Terrible CSR experience

by Mirmidona Achillis on Dec 13, 2022
1 out of 5 stars

Called this insurance company to have another family member added to the original insurance.

Asked for a quote, and after being put on hold several times and the call moving from a quote to an escalation call, that lasted over 45 minutes of my time, I was told, that a manager will call or email me back at a later time.

More time is taken from my normal day with no satisfactory results to show, just more aggravation to be continued for me.

Canada’s Worst Auto Insurance Company

by Hem on Dec 13, 2022
1 out of 5 stars

I've had auto insurance since 2015. Almost every auto insurer in Canada has contacted me. Unfortunately, I have contacted Belairdirect this year for renewal. I wasted my time thinking Belairdirect was cheap. Belairdirect appears to have no regard for its customers. I believe that these strategies are employed with clients who fail to conduct adequate research and follow-up. I've only had stress since working with them for the reasons listed below.

1. The auto premium was raised by $330 (18.21%): When I spoke with Certified Insurance Agent, I forgot to mention that I had a one-month auto insurance gap; later, they discovered it and raised the premium by $330 (18.21%) from the finalized premium amount with Certified Insurance Agent, which is unjustifiable.

2. Policy coverage and premium details were NOT provided in writing via email: Belair is aware that oral testimony about policy coverage and premiums is inadmissible. As a result, Belair dislikes providing detailed policy coverage and premium information by email in written format, as other insurance agents and brokers do, so that customers have written proof for future reference.

3. Different Premium Amount: After receiving an online auto quote, I spoke with three different Certified Insurance Agents. However, they provided me with a different premium for the same coverages and deductions. I believe that regardless of the number of certified insurance agents involved in the quote, the premium amount for the same coverage and deductions should be the same.

An absolute rip-off, scam company

by Robert Jones on Oct 18, 2022
1 out of 5 stars

1.7 stars out of 5 stars the same as hundreds of others. Even 1 star is too much. I made a claim on July 29 for a not-at-fault accident. After the initial report, I heard nothing from my adjuster. He said he would call back on August 2, but didn't. I emailed him on Aug 9, and he called me for the first time on Aug 10, 12 days after the collision. He made me a lowball offer on my car, which I refused. I called Belair Direct on Aug 17, 19 days after the accident. The customer service hung up on me. How dare I expect Belair to pay a claim after paying them for 10 years? Evidently, all those payments were for a piece of paper that gave the illusion that I was insured when really, I have no coverage. If you think you are insured by Belair, do yourself a favor and call a lawyer. You will need it dealing with these thieves. 70 days have passed since my NOT AT FAULT ACCIDENT, and to date, the only thing this company has given me is $45 for the ambulance. I have sent the adjuster 24 emails but nothing happens. The adjuster does not answer my calls or emails. Unbelievably bad service.
Their final offer for my car was about $3,000 short of what I thought it should be. The adjuster told me to get an independent appraisal done which I did. That showed the value of my car to be $3,000 to $5,000 more than their offer. They raised their offer by $1,000. They said they don't count independent appraisals because the appraiser always favors the client. They seem to have an answer to everything except the question of when will I get a settlement for my car. Being with Belair Direct feels like I've been caught in a scam!

Did you know that on average Ontario drivers with good driving records pay $1,805/year in auto insurance? Is your insurance rate higher? Get a free car insurance quote and start saving today.

You think you have coverage but you don't

I had a not-at-fault collision on July 29 involving my car and utility trailer. Despite assurances from the claims reporting office that the claim would be settled within a week, I found that Belairdirect is in no hurry to settle a claim. 70 days post-collision, I had received only $45 for ambulance reimbursement. 77 days post-collision, I receive $3100 for my trailer which cost me $5500 for an identical one. What kind of appraisal is this? After 77 days, the storage yard is making more money from storage than I'll get for my trailer. As for my car, they offered me about $5000 less than I thought it was worth. The adjuster told me to get an independent appraisal, which I did. The appraisal showed the value of my car to be $5000 more than Bellair's original offer. After 77 days, their best and final offer is still $2,000 lower than the lowest range of the independent appraisal. I have entered into their progressive complaint procedure, which has done nothing. The only thing this company does efficiently is collect its premiums. Belair is great at making you feel good until you make a claim, only then you'll realize that you are screwed.

10 years plus and no help

by Rundle1 on Sep 29, 2022
1 out of 5 stars

I've been a loyal customer for over ten years, paying way more for a policy for years considering I work from home. 10 years and not one missed payment. Had a mishap in September which is 100% my fault however they will not extend the overdue payment for 10 days. Customer service basically said yep... it's the policy... if it is not paid on the repay day your insurance is subject to be cancelled. Nice to see how they treat longtime loyal customers. I have not shopped for auto insurance for over ten years... It is eye-opening the quotes I've been provided! Time to move on, thank you, Belair, I had no idea before this mishap how much money I'd be saving leaving!

Cancelled my insurance with no warning. I called in as my payment came back (bank's fault) and the guy said he'll get back to me no call no email just happened to look on my app it said cancelled. I will never tell anyone to use these guys what a joke I was a 10+ client with no accidents.

Policy Change

by Andrey on Sep 20, 2022
1.5 out of 5 stars

Was charged extra for insurance. $315 instead of $265. No big deal, called in, and the answer was that I stopped using the driving app... I haven't used the driving app in 10 months. I proceeded to explain that I haven't used the app in 10 months or so and so the $265 rate is the rate without the discount. Nope. Eventually gave up and told them either I'm getting my old rate back plus a credit for the difference or else I'm switching providers. Let's see what happens.

Car insurance claim process

by Abdul Wali Karimi on Sep 7, 2022
1 out of 5 stars

Since my claim is raised on July 12, 2022, no one is taken responsibility to resolve my claim process.

I have done all tasks on behalf of Belair, I sent the photos of my damaged car, I found the body shop, and I sent the claim estimation, but no one is taking any action to resolve the problem.

The reason is that I traveled to BC and they are not good in BC, even though I bought the out-of-QC premium to be in safe aid still no action is taken.

Thank God that I am safe out of the incident, else who would have paid for my self-treatment where it is my contract?

Totally frustrated.

Opposite of what an insurance company is supposed to be

by Belairdirect sucks on Aug 31, 2022
1 out of 5 stars

Never got into a single accident. Not one. Ever. I get one speeding ticket on one bad day. One single $95 dollar speeding ticket, and I get booted. I wasn’t being dangerous, just in a rush on a completely empty road. Absolutely mind-meltingly stupid. These people will throw you under the bus in a heartbeat. Absolutely horrible insurance company. Stay far away.

If you have a good driving record in AB, you should pay around $110/month (women - $105/month and men - $113/month). Do you overpay? Get an Alberta car insurance quote to start saving.

Automerit

by ACE on Aug 26, 2022
1 out of 5 stars

Awful app, awful company, and awful services been with this ridiculous insurance company for more than 5 years, and because the Belairdirect app turned off the automerit function by itself then I was charged 47 dollars from the day it stopped all the way to my next renewal, even I turned on the function by clicking one of the links they sent me afterward, they were still blaming on me to pay for that 47 dollars. Although 47 dollars is nothing, not a big deal. But the company is dumb indeed. This is the first time that was ever happening in 5 years and especially the automerit function was off by itself, not by me physically doing it! Belairdirect blame me who did not check it and insisted that I have to pay the outbalance of 47 dollars.
In fact, I have confirmed with the agent every time when I paid the renewal, I am not going to have the time to check the app or make sure the app is turned on or even turn on the app manually every single time, the agent even replied: "No, you don't have to, just make sure you download it and it worked, then it's all good".
Therefore, if for some reason the app wasn't working or stopped working by itself, the team should have FIND A WAY to contact me or MAKE SURE I am aware of the situation because it's not like I did it on purpose.
Instead of assisting an old customer like myself to solve one simple misunderstanding issue like this, they refused and mentioned "The back office has reviewed and replied it was not from their end, the apps work perfectly fine, so you will have to pay the outbalance of 47 dollars"
REALLY!? if the app is fine, why would the automerit function be turned off by itself, and why would you argue this 47 dollars with a loyal customer, WOW, what a GOOD service with a team that has NO BRAIN, Saying bye to this dumb insurance company never ever recommend to anyone AGAIN!
