Certas

(1.0 out of 5 stars)
by DG May 12, 2020
...After 43 years with State Farm was informed by Certas/Desjardins after they took over that if I didn’t consent to my information being shared with all Desjardins insurance companies my policy would be cancelled. Bought a new trailer last week and Certas software would not allow the agent to complete policy unless I provided my level of education and my job title prior to retiring. Also required my spouse’s info. Last year my credit card was hacked 4 times in one month and after switched Certas/Desjardins to direct bank withdrawal no more problems...

It was hard to dump

...Just managed to unload Dejardins which is a great relief. Arrogant, ignorant and conceited people to deal with. If you are not French, you don't count on them. Do not waste your time with them! Go elsewhere to avoid the stress of dealing with them...

Disgusting service

(1.0 out of 5 stars)
by Disgusting service Apr 29, 2020
...I was stopped for a school bus in November and a car rear-ended me. Took my truck to the body shop they recommend, I specifically requested they check for frame damage. However, they were too lazy to remove the rear bumper to check the frame. The quote they submitted to Desjardins insurance was approved but some parts were not available. My insurance adjuster was unable from mid-November until January 6. So finally I picked up my untouched truck and took it home. Removed the bumper to find the frame was indeed damaged. The next day took back to the body shop for more pictures, which they reluctantly did. Then I sent my own pictures to insurance. Because parts were not available all they offered was the price of new parts and that’s all. So I took it to another certified body shop that actually looked at the frame damage. They did up a quote to fix everything, however, they still can get some parts. So I did a third quote, frame repair, parts and a fabrication shop to make the parts that were unavailable. Now my adjuster was unreachable for 4 weeks. Finally, they sent an appraiser at the end of March. He said there was rust on my truck so they could replace it with a rusty used bumper. He did actually locate a bumper and hitch 2000 km away in Nova Scotia. I ordered the part and had it shipped. Now I was starting to lose patients with this whole performance so back to the second body shop for a new quote using the used parts. The new quote was $300 more than the original quote, this one included the frame repair. After a week or so the appraiser calls the body shop and basically yelled at them that they charge too much and the quote was too much. The quote was $3,800 to fix it, after this, I got feed up informed the body shop to proceed with the repair and bill me directly. The insurance appraiser sent an offer of $1,400 after another 2 weeks of waiting. They sent a big email patting themselves on the back about coming to a deal. The only problem is it’s off by $2,400. So I stopped contacting the insurance company and started talking to a lawyer. We are almost in May now, so 5 1/2 months and my no-fault accident cost me over $2,400 and I haven’t driven my truck since November. I was with them for about 20 years with no claims, this was my first one. So do not give your business to these crooks. They will try to screw you. They definitely don’t deserve any stars...

DON'T deal with DESJARDINS

(1.0 out of 5 stars)
by justwantairvalue Apr 23, 2020
...I have been with State Farm and now Desjardins for 54 years. They were a pleasure to deal with 3 agents in all that time. The agents are great. Recently, unfortunately, I submitted a claim in January for an accident that was not our fault. A car had just been certified and put on the road a Volkswagen Diesel. I have sent them information on cars going back as far as 2000 and they are more than what Desjardins is offering me. I used the guide from NADA North American Dealers Association. All Desjardins is offering is equivalent to Clean Trade-In Value/ I can not replace my car for this money. Claim Adjuster doesn't even know what an "AS IS" vehicle is compared to a "Certified Vehicle" I would give them a negative value but this app will not let me! Do Not deal with Desjardins they know you when they take your premiums but want nothing to do with you when you submit a claim...

Avoid Desjardin

(1.0 out of 5 stars)
by DD Apr 09, 2020
...Following an accident Desjardin Insurance refused to have the vehicle checked for hidden mechanical damages, clearly stating in the email 'we usually don't do it'. They only agreed to an alignment, which was NOT done as per vehicle specification. The car did not behave on the road the way it was supposed to. When I brought up the issue with Complaint Liaison Officer, after 6 months of phone calls and emails that were never replied to, I was flat said I should have asked to have the vehicle checked after the accident. Which I did. The Complaint Liaison Officer answer was - 'well, I would have not changed anything anyway'. What a joke!...

Worst Desjardin Insurance

(1.0 out of 5 stars)
by Monty Mar 19, 2020
...Desjardin agents looting money from their customers. I won’t take the name of an agent in Brampton but they first make a promise and after paying them first insurance they don’t care about their promise given to a customer. They are not loyal. Their main aim is to get money out of the customer’s pocket. Never go to them. They are the worst...

just plain aweful

by DoneWithDejardin Mar 16, 2020
...Incompetent, unfriendly, bad-customer - service experience. They don't give a hoot about their previous statements, your concerns/needs, or their industry standards. But they charge a hefty premium and are communicating in a way that I would characterize as unprofessional. How can this insurance still be in business...

by Tracy Mar 16, 2020
...The agents were very kind and great people to work with on my auto insurance! They provided optimal advice on whether you go with them or not and have positive attitudes. Would highly recommend their service. They made my auto insurance experience at Dejardins enjoyable! They were very patient, informative, gave me a better price and they have an auto program to give you a discount as well, thank you so much...

Accident claim mishandled

(1.0 out of 5 stars)
by Dasa T. Mar 07, 2020
...Following an accident, where I was at no fault, Desjardin Insurance refused to have my vehicle checked for mechanical issues. Finally, they agreed to perform alignment, which was not done as per my vehicle's manufacturer specification. The alignment was done by Desjardin authorized mechanic, who magically adjusted non-adjustable parameters. The car was sliding on the road and Desjardin Insurance ignores the vehicle's manufacturer specification and does not respond to my emails on time. Ombudsman doesn't respond at all. Additionally, during renewal, my insurance went significantly up...

Look elsewhere for insurance

(1.0 out of 5 stars)
by Edmonton Jan 14, 2020
...I was in a car accident 6 months ago. Their client hit my vehicle. Their client was ruled 100 percent at fault. Desjardins insurance has written off my vehicle. Here's the problem they want to settle with an amount that won't allow me to purchase the same year and model of vehicle. So basically I will need to downgrade. They get this appraisal report done on an online web-based program... they don't provide the location or contact information of where these comparable vehicles are. It's unbelievable. The appraisal is not worth the paper it's written on. No name of person no contact of this web-based appraisal. It's so Micky mouse you need to see it believe it. I have been in contact with the lady who hit me, she said her experience with them was a nightmare as well. Stay far away from this scam of an insurance company...

Poor Customer Service

(1.0 out of 5 stars)
by Neh Dec 03, 2019
...I have been with Desjardin auto insurance for as long I can remember. Yesterday I spoke with an agent, who messed up the relationship with this company. I recently bought a new car and called Desjardin to moved my insurance over. At the start, I told the agent I was in a new address but did not mention I was to be there temporally. The agent asked me to read the address I have on file and I did. He went ahead and processed my insurance based on the address I read to him. ( this address on file was different from the one I was in at that moment). He sent an email to me with my significantly lower monthly payment. I again reminded him I moved to a know address mention for a moment. The agent decided to recalculate my insurance based on the new address, and the amount was significantly higher, about $30 higher. I told the agent that was no problems at all and that he should allow the insurance at my old address given the fact I will just be in the present address for a month. The agent said it was because I heard that the insurance amount will be higher in my present address that I decided to ask him to keep it at my permanent address. Later, he kept me on hold for about 10 minutes and wasted my time just come and tell me they will need to move my address on file to the temporary address which the amount per month to pay is higher. I told the agent all my info and address on my driver's license is still in my permanent address which is not this address I am in. He asked me to provide a least agreement that I am in the old address. I told him I did not have the least agreement in both houses. I live with my friend who is helping me out to continue with my studies. The agent started telling me how I need a least because it will be for my protection in case they want to push me out of their house. I did not think it was he call to start telling me that. The agent was very sarcastic and could not allow me to explain myself. I was very disappointed with the services I received from him. According to me, he very unprofessional and inexperienced. In the past, I have had a very good relationship with formal agents I spoke with. I am not sure where this guy was from to spoil my relationship with Desjardin in this manner. I let him know I won't stay with them anymore. He was okay with it and behaved as if nothing happened...

Rip off

(1.0 out of 5 stars)
by Steve C Nov 29, 2019
...I canceled my policy 3 months ago to a professional provider Just this pas Monday they decided to take 3 months premium out of my account with zero notice I might add. I’ve been bounced around to 4 different people who have been useless to address this. Just short of being called a liar I’ve given up. They can keep the money it’s worth not having to being treated like a second class citizen. Purely pathetic and unprofessional from the very beginning...

Horrible experience

(1.0 out of 5 stars)
by Appalled Nov 20, 2019
...Please do not choose this company. They make it their business to deny your claim. I was first contacted by an adjuster who came across as inexperienced and extremely judgemental. Firstly, she did not introduce herself or her job properly so I was confused around how much information I needed to disclose. Throughout our conversation, she cut me off, drew inferences that did not make sense and she was judgemental. She also kept speaking with this horrible rising intonation where everything sounded like a question. She did not even call me to tell me about the outcome and instead she sent me an email. Obviously distraught, I spoke with her supervisor. As I was crying, she treated me like I had mental health issues and I was incapable of holding a conversation. I told her that I would cry regardless of when I had the conversation. When I thought to say something, she raised her voice at me and told me to let her finish speaking. It was the first time I did that and I was really distraught, which would be understandable! Her method of management is to have control over any conversation and she goes from 0-100 real quick. Desjardins was the most horrible experience I’ve had with an insurance company. I’m not upset about my claim being denied as much as I’m upset by the way I was addressed by these two ladies. These two women exemplify lacking empathy...

by Stacey Nov 07, 2019
...I had my very first accident and was terribly sick over it. My adjuster made me feel so much better. She made the process quick, easy and friendly. I had read so many reviews of how horrible this insurance company was and was dreading my dealings with them regarding my claim. I was surprised by how she handled everything promptly and ever so efficiently. She is pleasant and understanding. I will be recommending this company to EVERYBODY! Thank you...

So far so....bad!

(2.0 out of 5 stars)
by Frustrated Fella Sep 27, 2019
...I was with State Farm for a good while and never had one problem with them, always helpful friendly people who weren't afraid to be in touch if something was amiss. Then came Desjardins... I decided to stay the course and give them a chance expecting to get similar good service and my rates stayed about the same. Yes they called and said they would like to arrange a meet and greet at their office, they were even quick to get me quotes on vehicles I was shopping around for but that's where the pleasantries ended! I've always owned cheap, used vehicles and have always insured them with liability and comprehensive ALWAYS AND ONLY. After a little chat with them recently it appears one of my vehicles for some reason has collision on it and the other is missing the comprehensive... I've never changed my policies (no reason to) and I'll admit maybe I haven't read every little word on every little piece of mail I've gotten from them but considering I brought to their attention that I wouldn't have changed my policies and some kind of error must have occurred during the changeover you would think that they would take some time to investigate the matter but no. I had an answer much too brief and quick to have been taken seriously. I shopped around and found better service at a much better price (saving $500+/year) with more flexibility and options! "We dont want to lose your business" I was told, well talk is cheap and actions speak volumes to me! Not only can they not even come close to matching another reputable company with a local office to keep my business but they won't take the time to investigate a potential internal error they may have made during the changeover, I can't say I feel as if I'm being very well taken care of. Oh, how I miss State Farm...

Desjardins Insurance

(1.0 out of 5 stars)
by AdamTO Sep 23, 2019
...Cancelled motorcycle insurance from about April-September 2019 after selling it, only to be explained that I’m being charged differently than a car (seasonal % premium) because I rode the riding season, even though I’m paying evenly monthly. $650.00 charge and no explanation anywhere on their website, setting up, quote emailed or letter... Managers only defence when I told them to stop the charge due to lack of explanation is “we just can’t... it’s not a fee, it’s part of the (hidden fee) premium and It was mentioned that it’s seasonally rated when you cancelled last year just after a month in October with no charge.” This is a completely hidden fee that they hide by sending you a monthly even quote and a scam to motorcycle riders making them pay the yearly premium. I told them again to stop the charge and clearly, the managers won’t let that happen even though it’s a hidden fee that is not explained unless you ask, ask about details you’ve never heard about that is nowhere on their site or mail. They are lying scammers with a lack of simple empathy because I know the charge could be stopped. I didn’t know that I would have to speak to someone above the managers that are more polite to customers which probably doesn't exist. I don’t understand the reason for this because they could have ripped off more money from me in the future as a customer but they would rather not and have bad representatives. It was already bad with the banning of certain bikes and ridiculously high quotes in Toronto, now this takes it further and I won’t be riding for some time let alone paying for anything related to this terrible company...
