TD Visa travel insurance

by Mac on Jun 8, 2018
1 out of 5 stars

TD Visa provides 21 days free travel insurance. Sounds great; however, their underwriter is Allianz Global Assistance. We had a simple claim for a lab test and prescription in the USA. We paid the prescription and the lab fee was direct billing. We received the runaround for 6 months - I paid both bills after 3 months but kept on pursuing the insurance just to see how bad they were. They have asked for 4 different letters from the lab for billing. All looking for information already provided e.g. "We require the Provider's name and designation to process", "We require a Federal Tax ID number to process". It was a good thing, it wasn't something major or I would be footing the bill.

Seriously pick something else.

Terrible card. I initially got this card to use for travel... because who doesn't like a credit card points vacation! Firstly, I accumulated such a little amount of points over a 2 year period. I make more money than the average person in Alberta and use my card for all purchases. I went to Europe right after I received the card and booked plenty of accommodations through Expedia, but I did not use the "expedia for TD" website, therefore I was not awarded my triple points (I even called customer service twice). Not using the right website was my fault, but the time it takes to get points is embarrassing. I switched to the Westjet card and in 4 months I already have half of the expedia dollars I did after 2 years. Second point, expedia is just awful. If you like paying full price and sometimes more, use expedia. They are terribly expensive for everything. I like to spend my money wisely and get the best deal, but expedia is a constant let down. I'm in SE Asia currently and have constantly been using Agoda, expedia is often twice as much. Lastly, the website for the TD rewards is horrific. Website is easy to use, but it only works half of the time and when it does work it's like you're using dial-up internet from 1999. Oh, and the online mall full of items that you'll never be able to afford. The financial advisor at TD recommends this card to me so much. I couldn't believe how much she said her family loved it.... good get. Seriously, skip this card.

I use my TD Infinite Via to get travel points to cover the cost of hotels when I travel. It's a great card.

I find it confusing and frustrating when using ExpediaforTD when trying to book all inclusive vacation packages.

Worst experience ever

To think that we pay to receive worst service that you would receive for free elsewhere is pretty amazing. I look forward to cancelling this card as soon as I am back home.

Expedia Customer Service is Completely Useless

by Disappointed Traveler on Nov 1, 2023

I booked a flight with them last week and then immediately realized that I needed to add my middle name to the booking as this was in my passport. I asked the airline carriers to inquire if the addition can be made and they all agreed to make the change but Expedia for TD need to make the request. After many phone holds and back-and-forth, they still insisted that the airlines are incorrect and refused to help me. Instead, they told me that the only way to resolve this is for me to cancel my initial booking and then re-book again. Of course, prices have already changed because it took them a week to figure this all out and obviously a penalty was also charged. More than $300 lost for a few letters added. I will never book through Expedia for TD again.

TD Expedia points were I redeemable

by Tracybz on Sep 27, 2022
1 out of 5 stars

I lost $772 credit because of the incompetence of the customer service representatives at TD EXPEDIA. I spoke to three different representatives, spent 3 hours on the phone, and asked to be referred to a manager three times. I was assured a supervisor would contact me in 24 hours. No one ever did. Ended up calling the credit card company which appeared helpful but when the call disconnected never heard back. Cancelled credit card.

Not worth the $120 fee

by Mc on Aug 24, 2022

I enjoyed this card until it came time to book a flight. The flights on the website aren't guaranteed. After I booked a customer service agent called me requesting $200 more so I told her to cancel the booking and I'll book on another cheaper site. The total transaction is still pending on my card, 7 days later. I called to check why it hasn't been released and have been back and forth with customer service agents for four hours between TD bank and TD rewards. Still hasn't been released.

Point Redemption isn't as good as it seems

by Unvalued customer on Aug 11, 2022
1.5 out of 5 stars

The only way to get the full redemption value that TD Visa advertises is to book through their TD Expedia website. Unfortunately for airlines, they charge a fee and for hotels, they don't have rates as good as if you directly to the hotel website, so you either pay more on the Expedia site for full redemption or you pay less on the hotel site and get less redemption. Either way, you lose. And you're limited by the partners Expedia has because they don't deal with all hotels and airlines.
The credit card used to be simple and all points and redemption were equal, but since they partnered with Expedia, TD gets money from Expedia for the deal, and Expedia gets your business at an inflated price, so everyone wins except the customer.

Customer service can't resolve problems

by ALAIN VO on Aug 8, 2022
1.7 out of 5 stars

I purchased one return AC Ticket to Asia with Expedia for TD and 8 of my friends purchased the same tickets with Expedia.ca, same price same class same day...
Originally we go to SGN with a stopover in NRT for 2 weeks but Japan is not open for individual travellers yet, we changed our ticket to go directly to SGN without a stopover in NRT.
Expedia for TD charged me $253 for the changed ticket and Expedia.ca charged all my 8 friends only $ 3 because the reservation agent change my ticket with a K higher class, without checking for available S class and all my friends with lower S class and I am the first one to call and my friends called Expedia for the same day to change their tickets after my 1st call, I called back much time explaining mistaken by an agent, even sent to Expedia for TD one of my friend itinerary ID as a proof. The answer is - "on investigation", and on my 5th call the agent said I will receive a refund in a maximum of 10 days, never received and I keep calling back without success and one night at 11 pm Montreal time, an agent with Asia accent called me probably from Vancouver telling me there is no mistake and did not accept his agent mistake and close the case very sharp. So no more Expedia for TD. Be aware to purchase from Expedia for TD!
