Very poor customer service

by Habib on Mar 1, 2021
1 out of 5 stars

I have had a very unfair and bad experience with them. Once I found the unknown charges in my account, I could not talk to the right person or a supervisor even after being stocked for 85 minutes on the phone. This has happened too many 4 times in a row and they don’t care at all.
Funny thing is that in the beginning, they advised me not to pay the balance and first check the unknown amounts with the vendor. It took me more than two months and still waiting for the vendor but Walmart Mastercard is charging the interest on a monthly basis telling me openly that we don’t care.
Every time they tell me that our supervisor will call you in 24-48 hours but they never do. I know they love to charge me with daily interest.
I am going to close my account with them and advise whoever I know to be careful with them.
Thank God everything is being recorded and they can’t hide it.

Terrible customer service

Extremely unhelpful customer service spent hours trying to resolve a simple issue with 7 different agents. When asked to speak to a supervisor, each of the 7 times was on hold for 41 min and then the connection hung up. Said there would be a customer service review survey after call..... ya no way do they provide that. The absolute worst experience I have ever had, cancelling my card nothing is worth this kind of hassle.

Gong Show

Applied for the Walmart Mastercard to get the $25 discount on our purchases and was told the application didn't go through. 2 weeks later, got the card in the mail. Spent 1.5 hours getting thrown from department to department just getting the card activated (barely able to understand the people on the phone). Went to the store to make a Christmas purchase for $560 and the card was declined. Didn't even prompt me for a PIN. Went home and spent another hour getting thrown from one department to the next and was finally transferred to the Security department. Was told that due to the high purchase amount and first purchase, the card was blocked. They requested that I fax pictures of my ID and utility bill to prove my identity. Firstly, who uses Fax anymore, secondly, why wasn't the PIN prompted to prove my identity, and finally, why would I fax my personal details somewhere that can be used for purposes of fraud. After reading reviews with similar experiences, I decided to cancel my card

Horrible Customer service

Tried to make a purchase and it was declined. By the time I spoke to the 4th agent after verifying my identity over and over and over again. I was steaming mad. Still declined the purchase. Looked like an idiot in front of people in the store. Worst clown show ever!

STAY AWAY

by SK on Oct 16, 2020

I went for the scam to save $25 on my purchase worst mistake in a long long time. I had no intention of activating this card thought not a bad idea to have it in case I ever need it. I have over an 800 credit rating and currently have a Visa and Mastercard from other banks. I bought a bbq at Walmart and scammed into the $25 off on the purchase. As soon as I got the statement I mailed a cheque for the full amount. My phone started ringing 1888 numbers 4-5 times every day the people phoning me were from somewhere in the world but could not be understood so I started ignoring these calls thinking they just wanted me to activate the card. 2 days ago I received another statement saying I was in arrears and they started adding interest. I phoned their customer service line about taking 1 hour and explained all and they said they never received the cheque and they would be sending it to collections soon then he told me that they don't accept cheques on the invoice it says make your cheque payable to... I told him this and he said he had to transfer me to a higher level of customer service back on hold for 45 minutes the next person I could only describe as possibly a french east Indian who was impossible to understand. I gave up all together about 2.5 hours later. I phoned the Walmart store and talked to the manager she said this is all a common story I cancelled my cheque costing me $13 and with another $6 interest charge I have no choice but to go to the store and pay it to save my plus 800 credit rating. The cheque has not been cashed. For your own peace of mind STAY AWAY DO NOY BITE NOTHING BUT A HUGE SCAM shame on Walmart and shame on Mastercard I learned a valuable lesson STAY AWAY AS FAR AS YOU CAN! It would only let me give 1 star I would rate them at least a MINUS 10

Unbelievably horrendous support

by Vinayak on Sep 10, 2022

Beware. Don't get misled by the various paid (fake) reviews about the Walmart rewards card. Look at the actual customer reviews which will open your eyes. Except for the 'rewards' that you can use only at Walmart, this is a very bad card with horrible customer support. If you have any dispute then God saves you. First, call customer support. They say 'you have to wait until the merchant charges your card, right now it is pending merchant action'. But I realized this is a fraudulent merchant with a fake website, can't you stop them from charging my card? 'No, we can't do that'. Ok, so you call 'after' the card is charged. you get transferred to their 'security' team. they waste 15-20 minutes of your time and then say that 'this should be handled by our dispute team' and they transfer you there. The 'dispute' team wastes another 15 minutes of your time and then says 'oh this is a 'world' master card so we have to transfer you to another dispute team'... 15-20 more minutes then they say 'ok we can create the dispute but you have to call the 'actual' dispute team who work only Monday to Friday 8 am to 5 pm'. Really? 'and we cannot provide you the direct number of that team, you have to go through support'. Really? So the time of their teams is important but the customer's time is not? Does a customer have to waste hours just to file a dispute for a fraudulent transaction? And why should the customer be thrown around between their various departments? None of their customer support seems to be empowered to do 'anything' other than say the same standard statements again and again like a parrot. worst ever.

Don't Opt! Extremely Bad Customer Service

I am trying to register my Walmart Mastercard online on their website. Unable to complete it every after trying 4 different times on different dates. Their customer call center is a joke. They don't solve any of your problems and keep transferring to the next department ultimately cutting the call. DON'T OPT.

Very Incompetent Security Department

by Chris on Sep 30, 2021
2.5 out of 5 stars

My card was compromised and it was a nightmare dealing with the security department. It took many calls to resolve. They were supposed to put a block on the card so that it can’t be used, but they didn’t and the scammers kept using it. I called so many times, kept getting transferred then disconnected. Long story, but in short they’re very incompetent and it was a terrible customer service experience

Horrible card stay away!

by SM on Sep 29, 2021
1.5 out of 5 stars

I do not understand why this card has so many security blocks. I go abroad and I left notes telling them was travelling and they still go ahead and block my card. Also to get unblocked was a disaster and the lady kept me online for an hour asking all kinds of stupid questions. For a small $3K limit card this is annoying and the service very bad as they kept transferring me between departments.
Horrible card - stay away!

Horrible experience

by browner on Jul 7, 2021
1 out of 5 stars

Had fraud on my card so, got a call about it and the guy asked me as well not normal questions. Some hours later we got a call from our bank and they needed our info because someone made a transfer. So, as well he needed our PIN # to fix the problem, after talking to him for a while he mentioned all this info that I gave this guy some hours before from Walmart MasterCard (the info we never used anywhere else)... The phone number was from New York so we knew it was not our bank. We called MasterCard and explained to them what had happened and we would like to close our account because we can’t trust them after this horrible experience... We tried 3 times and every single time they listen to our story and then put us on hold and after waiting for a long time it disconnected... Walmart MasterCard can’t be trusted!
