Unable to fix a typo LOST over $500

by Travelman mile on Mar 30, 2024
1 out of 5 stars

Due to a typo, hotel check in needed to be changed 1 day!
9 months out, rewards centre would not accommodate the change, called hotel they said no problem whatsoever but had to be fixed by the booking provider.
The rewards centre said simply beyond there control and would not let me contact the booking agent?
Lost my points.
Do Not Get Cibc Adventura
This program is stealing from people all their points!!!!!

If you are looking for a card with free lounge access, look elsewhere

by Sam on Oct 19, 2022
2 out of 5 stars

After spending 2 hours on the phone with numerous staff, downloading the Dragon Pass app, and researching lounge locations, I discovered that this card no longer provides free access to lounges in most major international cities, as it did in the past. CIBC was not transparent about these changes. Dragon Pass became their new service provider in July 2022, (they appear to be located in Taiwan and do not have a 1 800 # for contact). If CIBC is deceptive about this change to the card, what does this mean for other important benefits?

Price not competitive for air fare

by Alain Vo on Jul 24, 2022
2 out of 5 stars

I compared one ticket YUL-HAN/SGN-YUL via NRT on Oct.05 and return on Oct.29 with Air Canada and ANA and CIBC rewards offer to me for +1800 Cad and with the same flights, I check with expedia.ca the price is +1300 so there is different of 500 for the same ticket! Something wrong with CIBC rewards. Also, the system offers me to pay +1200 plus approx. 60,000 points or pay +1800 for the ticket. Crazy!

Right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing

In total, I have spent 4 - 5 hours over two days trying to get a hold of someone to take advantage of their promotion on travel redemption points. I have transferred between two numbers, each representative offloading to the other - repeatedly!
After a number of phone calls, and requests to escalate to managers who never get back to you that day (2-4 business days which tells me they have a lot of customer complaints), one person tells me I am not eligible because somewhere in the fine print, it only for Canadian travel! Regardless of the fact, that I had redeemed points previously for US travel on the promotion or so I thought I did. They then went on to tell me that the promotion wasn't applied in that instance, and it was the regular redemption program - even though they left me believing I qualified and they had rectified it. This of course is all news to me... after repeated conversations and discussions with various representatives.
You cannot escalate, you cannot be provided with an explanation, you cannot reason with them.... it is truly a nightmare. I will not be using any of their products again! I would switch credit cards immediately if I didn't have all my banking with CIBC.

Don't waste you money

The visa card is not worth the money. You can accumulate points, but good luck using them or even getting them back if you wish to cancel. Wait times are insanely high, I doubt they have anyone working on a help desk.
In hindsight, I would never wish to use an Aventura points card. You basically cannot get a hold of anyone to do anything, and their user interface is pathetic! Feels like you have gone back to the late '90s in terms of UI and speed.

Wait times are unbelievable

Wait times with CIBC Rewards center are absolutely embarrassing. I’ve called twice now and am currently on hold for over 2 hours. It’s a complete joke. I requested a points refund over 3 months ago. Was supposed to take 4-6 weeks and never heard anything back. Their “callback” feature, if you even want to call it that, doesn’t work and they never called me back. Emailed them 4 times in the last 2 months and never even got an automated response. TERRIBLE

Terrible customer experience

by Maria P. on Sep 3, 2021
2 out of 5 stars

My experience with CIBC Rewards Centre has been horrible. To book a trip on the phone, the waiting time is 1,5h or more and you still don't get on hold of anyone to help you.
Another problem I had is when I exchanged my points for some Save on Food gift cards. I realized this chain of supermarkets is not available in Toronto, so I called the Rewards Centre the right way to cancel the order. They said they would try to help, but it wasn't guaranteed. How come? I called only 1 hour later after my purchase. It doesn't make sense the operator can't do anything. I don't know why, but I do believe the system should be more flexible when it comes to orders and cancellations. My overall experience with the CIBC Rewards Centre has been terrible. Don't recommend it to anyone.
