Sloppy insurance company.

They made a mistake which was unknown to me, I should have only had one at fault accident on my record. Chieftain kept raiding my insurance and I could not figure out why, well im trying to switch insurance companies come to find out chieftain kindly put two at fault accidents on my record within 10 days of another, for the same vehicle... which was so badly damaged after the accident as it rolled multiple times it was a total loss. They say "an honest mistake" I have been trying to get information on the issue and get it fixed because I can't get insurance right now because of their mistake...

it is really nice when someone has had 2 vehicles insured with a company
for 12 yrs, and payed over $ 28 000 and they cut your insurance off, unjustly of course, their screw up, they got their money every time, just a few days late. anyways good to know they are so loyal, lol i am glad they lost all of my business including vehicles, 2 houses, and other stuff, very bad customer service, you might want to consider another company which will gladly treat you nice to get your business, try the co-operators, very friendly

Absolutely worst experience! Ever!

Chieftain Insurance (Travellers Canada) is absolutely horrifying & terrible. Consumer BEWARE. They cancelled our insurance without even informing us, no letter or anything. Just a refund to our credit card. They should have sent out a cheque with a registered letter to make sure we receive & acknowledge it.

We were contacted by them in July 2021 saying that they did not receive a payment (this was automatically done through our credit card) & if we do not pay $769. by Aug 29th, they would cancel our insurance. As soon as we received the letter, we called & made a payment on August 9th, 2021 & got an authorization code (00573E - paid Aug 9, 2021 @ 12 pm). After a month or two we got a refund for $671 sent directly to the credit card, since there was no letter accompanying it we naturally assumed that it was a covid refund since we weren't driving as much.

Did you know that on average Ontario drivers with good driving records pay $1,805/year in auto insurance? Is your insurance rate higher? Get a free car insurance quote and start saving today.

First time forgiveness

What an amazing insurance company it is! My husband had first time accident since it was unprotected left turn, came to his full-fault. At first, everything was smooth, the car was sent to Garage, got a rental car which we even returned during Christmas break. After the new year, my husband called Chieftain about the first-time forgiveness policy. The person on the phone responded to talk to the broker. We wouldn't say it was a quite respectful response. And then, here letter came to cancel our policy without explaining any reason. Now we need to go through the painful process of finding new insurance company.
