ICBC is the worst company

by Jimmy604 on Mar 7, 2017
1.5 out of 5 stars

They are very expensive, especially if you are a new driver. ( Typically $3000 for full insurance for a new driver.)
They have outrageous surcharges for a person with a collision history.
The autoplan brokers are not very knowledgeable and not very helpful, I have to call in at the ICBC centre to reassess my discount history and claim history in order to get a proper discount rate.

(I'm fed up with ICBC being a monopoly in the car insurance industry and it's time we allowed a competitor into BC.)

Very expensive company

by Sukh on Mar 6, 2017

ICBC has had its monopoly for too long now. Its about time we allow private insurance companies to operate in BC. I would like to highlight the problems of monopoly and how the BC residents are taken for a ride by this monster called ICBC. First of all, the most expensive insurance in the world is ICBC - there is no insurance in the world that charges 4000$ for a new driver except ICBC. The sad part is that they are getting away with it since no one apparently in BC is doing anything to end this mockery.

Did you know that on average Ontario drivers with good driving records pay $1,805/year in auto insurance? Is your insurance rate higher? Get a free car insurance quote and start saving today.

Awful service

Called to make a claim and the adjustor I spoke to was condescending and rude. Laughed and called me dumb for asking questions. Seeing as it was my first accident and I had already been quite shaken up over the whole ordeal, she only made the process much more unbearable. I'm not sure what is required to work at ICBC but if these are the sorts of people the company has representing them, it's not a surprise why the ratings are so low. She was easily the most unpleasant person I have ever spoken to. Refused to answer questions and was outright disrespectful and unhelpful. Overall unpleasant experience.

ICBC tried to scam me!

by Priscilla Carter on Jan 23, 2017
1 out of 5 stars

I had a car accident and it wasn't my fault. I had a call from the adjuster cause my car was total loss. She called and told me that she'll give me less money for my car and told me that I'm lucky. Lucky? I injured my back and lost my beautiful car and she's telling me that I'm lucky. I got so frustrated so i hired an ICBC lawyer called Nirwan Law Corporation. Harpreet already knew my problem and after only a month I got my money from the car and in 6 months from injury. Thank you Harpreet for all your hard work. I simply recommend Harpreet to anyone who struggles with ICBC SCAMMERS!

the worst insurance company

This is the worst company I have worked with. In my over 20 years driving this is the worst company and we do not have any other alternative in BC. Why there is a monopoly of car insurance in BC?

Thanks for this spot to express my feelings about the insurance company of BC.

If you have a good driving record in AB, you should pay around $110/month (women - $105/month and men - $113/month). Do you overpay? Get an Alberta car insurance quote to start saving.

ICBC terrible

ICBC does not have your interest in sight...deny deny deny claims until you are so torqued you seek legal help, and then deny deny deny until court. Would love another choice, another option, and well freedom...to choose. Wouldn't wish ICBC on my enemies, unless they were ICBC, and then they would deserve each other. Is there another option? Insuring out of province?

Well over a month, no replacement windshield for my 1994 Chevrolet Z28.

Replacement supplier is providing ICBC and other insured with distorted replacement glass.

ICBC is horrible

by Donna on Sep 20, 2016
1 out of 5 stars

ICBC yells and screams that it always has to raise rates because everyone is defrauding them. In reality, they run well into the black, and thier policies on handling accidents where the insurer is severely injured, backed by many doctors, is causing people to become permanently disabled. They are the biggest legal scam going. When you have no competition, you can do whatever you want, it seems

Still in pain after 27 years.

I was rear ended by a motor home while stopped at a light in May of 1989. I suffered a whiplash injury. I went through the typical assessment of different doctors and adjusters. I called a lawyer at the the time because I felt I would be better served. The claim took under a year (was paid in Feb. of '90) and got a total settlement of just under 15k. However that injury has never healed properly as it is mostly soft tissue. As I am aging this condition is getting worse. It doesn't really matter if ICBC is the scam of the century (which clearly it is), without a properly functioning body that is in pain, what's the difference? The people that administrate these places are the types that permeate this dysfunctional, exploitive society of juvenilized people. It is time to bring back the rule of law on this land.
