Please do not insure your car with this company. They are absolutely horrendous. I filled a claim and they low balled the price of my car way below market value. The adjuster was an absolute nightmare and the service I received was terrible. When I asked to speak with a supervisor I received the run around. Please choose your insurance provider wisely...Statefarm is NOT a wise choice. I wish they had the option to add negative stars. I was not at fault, I cant image them treating me any worst then they did.....
My name is Martin W. I live in Fort McMurray. I have an impeccable driving record. I have been with State Farm for over five years and never had a claim or speeding ticket. My vehicle was hit while I was parked in the Peter Pond Mall in Fort McMurray. There was NO liability on my part. It was only minor bumper damage. The other driver went out of his way to find me and admitted liability. His company (the Cooperators) were more customer oriented and accommodating to me than my own insurer, and I was more than accommodating as a client of State Farm than they have been to me. State Farm recommended Londonderry Collision in Edmonton, which was a drive and hotel stay away for me (450 km one way!) I had to go down twice on my own dime because State Farm had the quote for the damage in hand, and assured me that it would be approved by the time I got to Edmonton, but it wasn't. So I had to drive to Edmonton from Fort McMurray TWICE! When I booked the rental car for the duration of the repairs, I told the State Farm claims office that I would not be able to get down to pick up my car on the day it would be fixed because I work rotating 6 on 6 off shifts, and I'm WAY UP NORTH. The claims adjuster for State Farm, even after hearing my explanation of my particular situation and WHY I couldn't just leave my job on a whim and drive 450 km, said she wouldn't approve the additional days. Guess where we are with this now? Its going to our respective lawyers...for a measly two or three hundred dollars of car rental fees!! I would not recommend State Farm and am in the process of finding another insurance company.
If you have a good driving record in AB, you should pay around $110/month (women - $105/month and men - $113/month). Do you overpay? Get an Alberta car insurance quote to start saving.
It is very disappointing that I was told I would get part of my car insurance back when in fact State Farm pocketed all the money. They are a very dishonest company. If they had bothered to explain about the new policy it wouldn't have made sense for me to just asked for an extra 5 day coverage. How disappointing to have been a client for years to have such poor customer service in the end. They lied and then simply didn't care.
My daughter was involved in a collsion when a piece of a transport truck broke away and flew into her car while on the highway. we had difficulty with State Farm from the onset. There is no customer service with this company and the adjusters we had to deal with were rude. When this claim closes we will be moving onto a different company. Anyone can be better then State Farm.
I have been with State Farm since 1987 and now they tell me because of the postal code my policy will double. How do they come up with these numbers? I'm going to call the BBB today I'm that upset with them. I am supposed to get the super premium discount. Now when I run my profile on other sites my rates are half of what State Farm is charging... so much for loyalty. I'm disgusted with this company. The insurance board mandated lower rates not gouging your loyal customers.
Did you know that on average Ontario drivers with good driving records pay $1,805/year in auto insurance? Is your insurance rate higher? Get a free car insurance quote and start saving today.
State Farm used to be great that is until they were sold to Desjardins. Now they are the worst out there! Customer service has noticeably been affected and is now terrible, they literally don't care how long you been with them or anything. Myself and my entire family were with them until my rates went up $40 a month even though I just turned 25 and use winter tires. My parents' insurance went up $30 a month and they put another vehicle on, a 2006 Honda Civic and they're paying $170 for it but were only paying $80 for a 1992 Civic last year (when it was still State Farm.) State Farm now claims it is more expensive to insure an older vehicle!!! 2006 is considered old but not just that, how are older cars more expensive to insure when there is less to them, parts are way cheaper and a lot of the safety is still on par to today's standards. This company is going under soon (at least I hope) and I have talked to people and read and you will see people everywhere are leaving State Farm. Do not make the mistake of joining a policy with them.
We have been customers of State Farm for 20+ years and never had a claim.....Nothing.....until recently......I was parked on the street in designated parking.....out of my car.....in a nearby office.....when a lady backed into my car. I didn't witness it but another person did and watched the lady pull in front of my car.....exit her car and walk over to bend down and have a good look at the damage she caused.....look around to see if anyone saw her....walked back to her car and proceed to leave the scene of the accident. Fortunately, I was alerted to this and ran out of the office builds ding.....down the street and stopped the lady. She pulls over and puts her car in park and puts down the window and says...."I backed into your car!" So I told her to come back with me I to the office where I could get her information and because of her insistence to not call the police.....I did.....The officer came out.....took our statements.....and informed me that she didn't have a valid drivers' license and she admitted she backed into my car but she wasn't leaving....she was going to park....Sure she was a block down the road!!!!! My car is new......hers was 12 yr old pile of junk.....I called State Farm when I got home and my agent said that since they have sold to Dejardins that I have to call a claim centre.....the lady who I initially took my call told me that since I wasn't in the car I didn't have to play the deductible......ok.....but I would need at least 45 minutes for her to file the claim.....unfortunately, we had plans for that night so,she said she would start the claim and I should call back the next day.....so I did....and that's when the Royal runaround started.....I was put over to two different claims agents.....finally sent back to the first agent after 20 minutes of wasted time....them the interview (interrogation)......I honestly was made feel like the guilty party instead of the victim of a hit and run!!!! Example of questions asked......*where you in the car? no I told you I wasn't.....*Ok....where were you.....I asked "How is this even relevant to this claim?" Agent....We need to know where you were..".Where you in a store or restaurant"......why would that even be important? Who called the police? Why? What's the lady's phone number who hit you? How many people where in her car? I asked why this was important and she said in case they had injuries and tried to sue me!!!!!! What was she charged with? How would I know that?????? I told her the OPP officer gave me his name, badge number, accident report number and email address and she says we don't use that because it takes 4-6 weeks to get the report and sometimes the OPP won't release them!!! Did I have any rust on any part of my NEW car? Because if I did they won't pay to fix the rust.....so finally after so many stupid questions I askd her if Desjardines feel that every insurance claim are the same and she said yes.....so whether you're at fault or not State Farm/Desjardines treats everyone the same.....clean 20 year record or not!!!! All accident claim reports are exactly the same......45+ Minutes long......the last blow was when I asked her if we had a rental car on our policy and she said......why can't you drive your car.....and I said....the drivers door is completely smashed in and the glass shattered.....the door does t fit properly....and it wouldn't be too good taking it anywhere w/o glass or a door that's hanging by the hinge......so she says yes you have rental coverage.....Hallelujah!!!! Lucky me.....bottom line is don't but your insurance from State Farm.....their once personal attention has been sold to the highest bidder and Desjardins are only interested in the dollars....
Insurance renewal with an increase of almost $100
Spoke with my agent her response was "that's the new rates"!!
I have been with them for over ten years ,never a ticket or a claim ...
Tao I began to shop around for a better price and was then informed that State Farm had a at falt code on my record for an accident for others to see but when I got in touch with the again they said "oops we made a mistake "it's been there for 6yrs!!!
Long story short I cancelled!!
I've never been treated so unfairly!!
I was involved in an accident in August 2015 that left my Ford Windstar totalled. The other driver said I should have seen them as they were right beside me when I turned, yet my van was t-boned: a clear impossibility that clearly showed the other driver was trying to get off the hook. And State Farm said I was 100% responsible.
Add to that, when I reported the accident to my agent, she gave me the wrong phone number for the claim office and said I shouldn't have admitted to being at fault, which I never did.
Then it became a royal runaround, chasing me all over the city on wild goose chases while I was trying to get to the hospital to visit my girl friend who was in ICU with viral meningitis, culminating with a snarky rep telling me I had to fax in my bus pass which I had bought to get me around town on their wild goose chases, because they needed a "start and stop date" (it's a monthly bus pass - good for the one month of September), which cost me more money to fax in - and I never received reimbursement for it. Sorry, rude and condescending staff and no fighting for a fair claim don't work for me.
Horrible adjusters, took forever to open a claim, gave way below market value for car. Rental wasn't given until 4 days after the accident and was taken away immediately after settlement. Wouldn't even reimburse for brand new tires and mechanical work that I had done a week before accident. All I got was a lame excuse as to why they can't reimburse and it was part of the total evaluation of the car. Please save yourself the hassle and get a better insurance company
