I was rear ended resulting in a minor dent in December 2012. It is now four months later and despite numerous attempts to contact the assigned agent by phone and email by both myself and my broker I have yet to make a claim. This was after 8 phone calls and seventeen emails that I initiated. The system of reporting an accident requires a verbal presence with the adjuster on the phone. Sending written cdetails under one's signature is not acceptable. The adjuster refuses to set a phone time but calls randomly. Even with thus random calling he only made an attempt to call twice in this whole period of time. My return calls and detailed emails went unanswered. I would NEVER insure with Wawanesa again.
Wawanesa and it's actually "hub international" is very deceptive insurance they will go to your bank account and steal from you without notifying you. If this doesn't scare you then I don't know what would. These are thugs with a license to steal. Stay away, advise your family and friends to stay away. This is the most dishonest broker that I've ever dealt with in my life... Once you sign up with them you are in for a long miserable year with plenty of surprises. From doubling your rates by 50% without notifying you to withdraw double the monthly rate. They were charging me for 2 cars instead of 1 for years. We demand the RCMP to investigate this broker in Windsor Ontario. For fraud and unauthorized transactions and a lot more!

Short story, I'm a good driver for 20 years now. No accidents in a decade. 2019, il receive a small rock on my windshield. I made a repair in a local shop, and after the repair, a huge crack appears in the windshield (straight for the repair). I need to change my windshield under a reclamation. Next year, 2020, I hurt a fire pit in a SEPAQ national park. My bumper needed a replacement (+/- 2000$). That's it, NOTHING ELSE. They refuse to renew my contract, and now I'm not insurable anymore. Had my Truck Stolen recently. The claims process was an absolute nightmare, the adjuster felt her only role was to watch from the sidelines and deny expenses, not helping me through the process, no consultation, no helping deal with the Autobody shop, could not even reach her by phone. Always had to e-mail. My truck was gone for 3 months for repair and came back with a list of issues that I needed to "deal with through the Autobody shop" or fix myself. I was paying insurance for 2 specific reasons 1)to get me back to the place I was before the event 2)to have a helping hand when I did have an issue Instead I got a distant accountant. When I asked to dispute claims items that decided by her with no agreement or consultation with me, I was told here's our dispute mechanism- hire your own appraiser and they can fight it out with ours. Good luck making that work for you. By the way the Appraiser was also terrible, the shop evaluated that my truck needed a batch of Front end work that it did not need (have pics to prove), instead of maybe actually taking a look he just reported to the adjuster only and they agreed to disallow the work meaning no mechanical work was done at all. I got back a truck with a large list of repairs and less functionality. On top of that, I have to deal with the shop warranty process with no help. Stay away from this company!
Over the past 16 years I've had my auto insurance with Wawanesa. I've had two hail claims and two accident claims in this time. I've always been treated with fairness and the rate I pay is better than anywhere else I've ever looked into.
rates are good but when it comes to claims the adjusters talk back at you yell at you…
The cost to value ratio is excellent.
I am a little disappointed because my driving record is clean but my premiums are going up every year, instead of going down.
My biggest problem is paying the premium. I always get the renewal late and it is difficult to pay them. I cannot send to the agent - the agent says that I must pay Wawanesa directly. I don't understand this requirement.
Dont let this company fool you. Most if not all the reviews are based on people who have not been in an accident or who have not submitted a claim. Steer absolutely clear of this company. Their rates are the only thing going for them. Don't wait to find out what its really like to submit a claim to this company. Adjusters that talk down to you and haven't got a clue whats going on because they just follow policies and procedures.
Run down walk away from this company. Do your self a favor and go with the best. Western! Skip this company all together. Horrible communication skills. If Wawanesa was the only insurance company left in the world, I would drive without insurance and take my chances.
Guys don't let the figures sway you, they are the absolute worst insurance company ever. They are at the top of the worst.
Don't fool yourself I've been with them for many years too, and everything was fine. Until I needed them.
