Broker who lost a pro driver

2 out of 5 stars
Got my comprehensive private insurance from these guys and two weeks later got a phone call saying they wanted to cancel my policy because I didn't disclose that I was in an accident 3 years ago. The agent asked if I had been in an accident where I was at fault in the last three years and I had told them no. The accident was 3 years and one month ago. However they said I failed to disclose. I have no problem cancelling as they seem like the type of company I wouldn't want to do business with anyways. Can't imagine the service if I actually had a claim. Made me feel like I was some sort of criminal when I did nothing wrong. Just had to deal with the inconvenience of going back into the insurance company to cancel and get my comprehensive through a different company. Buyer beware!
Unless you plan on not claiming any accidents I would suggest staying away from CNS.
I was signed up for car insurance with CNS for 6 years. I have just had the most dissappointing experience with CNS. To be fair I will start by saying CNS was always professional and speedy with any claims I had.
Now for the really crap part which has pretty much erased all the stars I would normally have given. The other day a HUB agent (my broker) called me to tell me that CNS had decided to "quit" me and that I had a day or two to find new insurance. When I asked why, she said I had made too many claims (ie the amount of profit they were making off me wasn't as big as they liked).
I thought back to the last 6 years and don't believe I've made an abnormal amount of claims and the claims themselves I was also not at fault for. Two windshield cracks and two hit and runs in completely different locations while my car was parked in legitimate parking spots.
So why is this coming up now and why do I only have a couple days to find new insurance? Turns out CNS had wanted to quit me 6 months ago but it was never followed through and now they want to cancel my policy asap. I argued that I was working over the next two days and it was a bit rude of them to think I'd be happy and able to find new insurance in such a short time. I asked her to help me find new car insurance (seeing as she's a broker) and she said because I was denied from one company she couldn't help me with any other insurance company, it was their policy.
What a strange way to treat a client who has always paid premiums on time, has a perfect driving record and has only made claims that were no fault of their own whatsoever. I'm extremely disappointed and disgusted with the treatment and the abandonment I've experience from CNS as well as HUB.
Did you know that on average Ontario drivers with good driving records pay $1,805/year in auto insurance? Is your insurance rate higher? Get a free car insurance quote and start saving today.
I was unable to get CNS to pay for the damage the strata's roof cleaner did to my car, after fighting them for a year. I have seen their adjustors, and several other adjustors see the damage. I have found CNS manipulative and dishonest.
I wish Island Savings never sold me this insurance. I trusted Island Savings, but my trust has been seriously violated, and I will not be dealing with them or with CNS in the future.

This review is for CNS & its broker Coast Auto Insurance also fall under Coast Capital Credit Union in BC.
I have been driving for past 15 years with 0 at fault claims. I had been a loyal customer to Coast auto and its underwriters for optional premiums in BC until I was attracted through Coast Capital's auto insurance underwriter CNS policy for freebie grab of "free windshield repair". Now I had a minor windshield chip that I thought to take advantage of. I got my windshield repaired and in the same year there was vandalism claim (Comprehensive) ones. The next year broker Coast Auto decided to switch the underwriter to another provider and that was the time to put remarks on my comprehensive restrictions. It kinda upsetted for me despite a pro and defensive driver the broker lost a good customer just because they put a stupid remark on my comprehensive claim. Hope they find pro drivers like me where claim rate is only 3 out of 15 years with a Roadstar rate stamped by ICBC behind me.
