Manulife Mortgage Protect

We signed up for Manulife Mortgage Protect product 8 years ago when we bought our first home. We received zero correspondence. Didn't even get a statement of coverage. Realized this month that they've been continuing to charge us despite the mortgage having concluded 3 years before. They were unwilling to accept any responsibility and blamed us for not having told them sooner.
They are taking advantage of people and hoping they won't notice the premiums being charged in perpetuity.
An absolute ripoff. Don't go anywhere near this insurance product. Reflects pretty poorly on Manulife as a whole.

Rip-off policy

A few years back I had a Mortgage Protection Plan from Benesure issued by Manulife. I was fairly new to Canada and did not understand well the concept of mortgage insurance when I was buying a townhouse. A mortgage advisor said it would be a great idea to get it so that the house is fully protected if something happens to me. Seemed a good idea that time but fast forward couple years - I was very surprised to find out that I could get much better Term Life policy with much higher coverage for half of a price I was paying. I felt like I was ripped off - this product helps banks and insurance companies really to take advantage of you since you are trusting your mortgage agent and think that this person is on your side. Such a scam.
