Hidden fees and constant scams

I got a quote online for Johnson Insurance. I was quoted 1392$ Canadian per annum. When I called in and spoke to a representative, I gave him my VIN number 3 times. I was told I was to provide a safety certificate which I paid 180 $. When I sent the safety in, the rep called me and said after putting in the VIN, my quote was higher even though my quote was valid for 60 days. When asked how come, I was told that I gave a different VIN over the phone. Impossible as I gave it to him 3 times after him telling me that the car did not show up. I verified 3 times. He then said he was sure the mistake was mine. I then asked him to go and listen to the so-called recorded conversation. He had no explanation and was rude and told me if I wanted to go ahead with the new quote, I was to let him know. I felt totally lied to and cheated. Never again would I deal with Johnson Insurance or refer them. Real scoundrels.
Other than a 40-minute wait on the phone to get through to them once, I had an overall good experience with them. A car backed into my car when I was parked, and the entire claim process went pretty smoothly. They gave me 4 options on where I can bring my car, I went with the best-looking place that had the best reviews. They got me a rental when I brought my car to the auto body shop. It took 3 days to fix my bumper and everything went smoothly. Overall, I have to say I had a pretty good experience dealing with Johnson. :-) Also, the accident was deemed that I wasn't at fault. I have seen all the bad reviews and figured I should share my experience with them since they were pretty good to me. I guess people only feel the need to share their bad experiences and not the good ones. I'd recommend this insurance company to friends or family.
Wouldn’t give me a quote because I haven’t had insurance for more than 6 years. Women laughed when I had asked for a quote and told me to call somewhere else
They are so hard to reach and can we say they have a service for French clients? It's almost a joke. 8 days trying to reach someone and get proper info in the other official language. I made a complaint to an upper level, most inefficient answers by that supervisor, same formatted responses that I heard 3 years ago and NO improvement as they don't care about us BUT they want our money, this is for sure! So Why support them?! Think to consider too other real CDN Ins. companies that really care!!
I was rear-ended, the accident was deemed the fault of the other driver, I hurt my back, head etc and dealing with this adjuster is hell. She sent me to their doctor who determined my injuries as minor, this is against the views on my MD, a pain specialist and my physiotherapist. Even when you are approved for further treatment, you have to jump through hoops. Forget your lawyers as they are waste of time. If I pay a doctor to do a surgery and he refused to do it, then it’s proven that what he says he is he isn’t, then that doctor's license is revoked, however, insurance can make the world of promises and you pay the premium, yet they don’t have to deliver. I don’t understand how Canadians sit back and allow this fraud to take place, stand up and fight back, as to the politicians who sit in parliamentary fighting... shame on you. The real issue here is us as people that are too accepting. I cancelled my policy
I have had the worst experience ever with Unifund and Johnson on my auto claim. Their communication process is the worst I have ever seen. I have been told to pick up my belongings from the car before it has been towed, when I arrived to the location, my car was already towed, and no one took the responsibility. I left my winter tires on the car, no compensation is given for that. My adjuster did not walk me through the process, and when I contacted the supervisor in charge to get a response, she did not even pick up her phone, I left messages several times for the adjuster and supervisor. In the end, it seems that you as a customer are serving them and there is no sense of customer service in them. They kept sending emails whenever they want to only collect records of communications for themselves, not effective and helpful communication from the beginning to the end of the process. When they sent the cheque at the end, they put the wrong name on it and it took a week to be delivered, no follow-up happened from the insurance side, until I personally asked for tracking number and called Purolator, and I found out they put a wrong name on the envelope. Some staff are being helpful in this process, but the adjuster and her supervisor were the worst experience with this insurance. I sent an email to claim line and explained the situation to them, I have got no response back till now.
I have been dealing with this specific insurance company thousand times and each time I call, literally speaking, I always had and probably will always have a horrible experience. In my 30 years of expertise in auto industry, I have never encountered such uncompetitive and ghastly company like Johnson. From frontline to management to legals, this company is such a failure. One time, I had an argument with one of the reps to clarify a document that their company has sent us. And she replied to me by saying she can't give and she won't give an answer because she doesn't wanna risk her license. Their company goes on their policy which is supposed to be but the policy is against the law. I asked one of the supervisors about it and she can't answer me then she hanged up on me. I am affiliated with different lenders and lessors and I advised them not to accept any services from this company. FOR ALL INDIVIDUALS WHO WISH TO CONSIDER THIS COMPANY, A FRIENDLY REMINDER. JOHNSON IS HIGHLY UNRECOMMENDED.
I hit a deer a night on the HWY, which totalled our car. I limped the car (before it lost all coolant) to a nearby business parking lot. It sat there for nearly TWO weeks before being towed to an auto body shop, despite repeated phone calls (which went unanswered!) to Johnson/Unifund. It was as if I didn't exist as their customer. The business wasn't too happy to have a wrecked car in their parking lot either. When the car was finally towed to THEIR chosen auto body shop, the shop had no paperwork or info from Johnson/Unifund to even proceed with an estimate. It was over a week before they had some direction from the insurance company. To top it all off, after over a month of stress and not returned calls, they lowballed me on the value of the car, despite me sending them a bunch of receipts and photos of the car (it was absolutely mint cond with very low kms). Horrible, horrible company to deal with. STAY AWAY!
Did you know that on average Ontario drivers with good driving records pay $1,805/year in auto insurance? Is your insurance rate higher? Get a free car insurance quote and start saving today.
My daughter tapped a vehicle in a parking lot. That same evening, hours later that other person went and totalled their rental vehicle stunting and drifting. They were not supposed to be driving that vehicle. There is actual video of his driving the vehicle after he claimed my daughter broke the axle on his vehicle. (Which you should know a vehicle can’t drive with a broken axle) The police are involved and investigating his fraudulent claim but my insurance company decided to go ahead and say my daughter was at fault and they paid out the claim. No questions asked! They didn’t even send an adjuster to look at my vehicle as I insisted, as common sense will tell you that my vehicle did not damage that other vehicle. If my vehicle damaged another vehicle to include breaking its axle, perhaps my vehicle should be in a museum somewhere with its “special powers”. What does an insurance company care because they will get all that money back from you and me anyway by increasing all our rates 10 fold. No one has any morals or common sense.

Feel like being completely scammed? This insurance company might be right for you! They’ll offer extremely high insurance with lots of fine print additional costs that won’t be mentioned over the phone when you additionally sign up! Feel like escaping the hell hole that you made the mistake of falling into? You can’t! They’ll charge you for the next month’s insurance (even though you won’t be covered that month) and then return SOME* of it back after 3-4 WEEKS (*ofc this is after the penalty fee they never mentioned will be deducted!—mine was $140 for cancelling it ONE MONTH before my policy expired). These losers just can’t wait to steal your money, especially if you tell them over the phone you’re a student and the money they’re taking away from you is going towards the food you need to eat that month!
