Extortioners DO NOT TRUST

by Angelz on Nov 14, 2016
1 out of 5 stars

I am currently suing Unifund for the money they claim to have paid me for claims that were withdrawn, paid under $300 for theft of a stereo system worth over 5000. i had additional coverage for this so by the time they took the 250 deductible i was left with a $47 cheque but they claim to have paid over $6897 and for my property loss they first declared it as fraud then i took them to court and settled out of court only to get a $2000 cheque that they cancelled when i cashed it. In total my insurance has went up 4000 a year for the next 6 years because the subtotal of your claims is divided into 6 years and when you never save over $23,000 and are paying for it, i do believe that is extortion.

Absolutely done with them

We have been a loyal customer of theirs for the last 20 years. In all that time our rates have always increased every year. It's absolutely ridiculous how much we pay today. Their customer service is atrocious. I recently put through a claim due to an accident that was not my fault. A spare time from an oncoming car rolled through the front end of my vehicle causing serious damage. After the car was repaired and the claim closed, my local service center discovered my front tie rod was loose. The exact point of impact from my accident. However, Johnsons refused to open the claim and re-evaluate it. And the claim adjuster never called me back after several attempts to reach her. We will be switching away immediately. And possibly take a penalty just to be done with it for good. Stay away from this company!!!

Payment Methods

I went to Johnson Offices today tried to pay my Bill 1 place being New Glasgow, Nova Scotia, Canada and the other place was Antigonish, Nova Scotia, Canada - they have a stupid Policy of not taking cash no more. Please do not deal with the them, they do have a poor service ...I last thought Money is legal tender in Canada - they did not want to take my cash payment. Johnson's what a joke I will go else where with better service even it cost more.

If you have a good driving record in AB, you should pay around $110/month (women - $105/month and men - $113/month). Do you overpay? Get an Alberta car insurance quote to start saving.

Insurance agent Joann L. at Johnson Inc in Richmond Hill, Ontario has got to be the biggest joke or excuse of an agent that has ever existed. She tries to belittle her customers just to make herself feel better.
If Johnson Inc is the company for you then do yourself a big huge favour and ask for any other agent within the company then to deal with this woman.
When asked for information she tells you to look it up yourself because "that's just not my job" she often replies. Well if selling insurance isn't your job then what the heck are you doing there, besides wasting everyone's time including your own? Crazy crazy woman. Beware!!!!

I had claimed recently and they decided to give me value of the car as it was not repairable. They gave me rental car just for 4 days, today is the last day and still I didn't receive cheque and when I call them to extend rental period , they don't pick up phone...no reply of email and finally they talked so rudely and denied for rental extension..........

Shame on you....you love just money but not customer service and your business.

Hidden Cancellation fees

by Adj on Mar 29, 2016

Beware dealing with this company. We tried to leave for another insurance co that offered the same auto coverage for lower rates and Johnson charged an additional $180 in cancellation fees in order for us to cancel (more than 1 month of payments with only 5 months left on the policy). Belair Ins was $45 / month cheaper right up front, so I would suggest avoiding this company and dealing directly with Belair instead.

Did you know that on average Ontario drivers with good driving records pay $1,805/year in auto insurance? Is your insurance rate higher? Get a free car insurance quote and start saving today.

Scammers!

I can't even bring myself to assign even one star to this fly by night company. I was in an automobile accident last year. The other driver -- insured by Unifund -- was at fault. My insurance carrier (StateFarm) got the run around when trying to get Unifund to cover the cost of the emergency vehicles that were called to the scene of the accident. Unifund doesn't answer the phone and they don't return calls from the State Farm claims adjusters. Now I'm personally on the hook for paying over $400 to the county to cover the cost of the firetrucks showing up. If I don't pay, the county will turn my case over to a collection agency and my credit standing will be compromised.

Johnson ins not trustworthy

by aleigh on Feb 13, 2016

I have been insured with Johnson insurance for well over 10 years now and have never had an issue until I actually needed their help.

Instance 1. My car was hit in a parking lot. I was not present, but the person left a phone # which I called for the info etc. Provide this to my adjuster who then tells me he can't get in touch with the insurance company. After him being unable to get me any info and being in a rental for weeks, I Email my adjuster asking what is going on and whether or not I should be thinking about getting the police involved. I receive no reply for months. Not to mention I was charged 1200$ for the rental even though I have loss of use up to 3000$ and have for 14 years

Instance 2. The same car was stolen from in front of the house. The police were in a car chase with the suspect which resulted in damage to my vehicle. The adjuster tried to send me to a shop at the other end of the city when he already knows it is undrivable. Similar to my last adjuster, i asked him to send someone to appraise the vehicle at my home and have not received a reply in a week.

The sales department and customer service are all very nice and polite but that is just to sell you a policy. When it comes time for them to provide you service for the money you've been paying them it is a different company.

Awful customer service.

Awful customer service.
They increase rate for no reason and refuse to be completive. I called 5 different insurance companies and all gave me lower rate, when I mentioned this to a Johnson rep she became rude and refused to lower my rate which was jacked up for no reason.
Never again.

Incompetent

The worst service ever.
A loyal, paying customer for 26 years is disgusted with the rude and dismissive behavior of their reps. Taking my business elsewhere.
