Disappointed!!!!!,

We have been customers of State Farm for 20+ years and never had a claim.....Nothing.....until recently......I was parked on the street in designated parking.....out of my car.....in a nearby office.....when a lady backed into my car. I didn't witness it but another person did and watched the lady pull in front of my car.....exit her car and walk over to bend down and have a good look at the damage she caused.....look around to see if anyone saw her....walked back to her car and proceed to leave the scene of the accident. Fortunately, I was alerted to this and ran out of the office builds ding.....down the street and stopped the lady. She pulls over and puts her car in park and puts down the window and says...."I backed into your car!" So I told her to come back with me I to the office where I could get her information and because of her insistence to not call the police.....I did.....The officer came out.....took our statements.....and informed me that she didn't have a valid drivers' license and she admitted she backed into my car but she wasn't leaving....she was going to park....Sure she was a block down the road!!!!! My car is new......hers was 12 yr old pile of junk.....I called State Farm when I got home and my agent said that since they have sold to Dejardins that I have to call a claim centre.....the lady who I initially took my call told me that since I wasn't in the car I didn't have to play the deductible......ok.....but I would need at least 45 minutes for her to file the claim.....unfortunately, we had plans for that night so,she said she would start the claim and I should call back the next day.....so I did....and that's when the Royal runaround started.....I was put over to two different claims agents.....finally sent back to the first agent after 20 minutes of wasted time....them the interview (interrogation)......I honestly was made feel like the guilty party instead of the victim of a hit and run!!!! Example of questions asked......*where you in the car? no I told you I wasn't.....*Ok....where were you.....I asked "How is this even relevant to this claim?" Agent....We need to know where you were..".Where you in a store or restaurant"......why would that even be important? Who called the police? Why? What's the lady's phone number who hit you? How many people where in her car? I asked why this was important and she said in case they had injuries and tried to sue me!!!!!! What was she charged with? How would I know that?????? I told her the OPP officer gave me his name, badge number, accident report number and email address and she says we don't use that because it takes 4-6 weeks to get the report and sometimes the OPP won't release them!!! Did I have any rust on any part of my NEW car? Because if I did they won't pay to fix the rust.....so finally after so many stupid questions I askd her if Desjardines feel that every insurance claim are the same and she said yes.....so whether you're at fault or not State Farm/Desjardines treats everyone the same.....clean 20 year record or not!!!! All accident claim reports are exactly the same......45+ Minutes long......the last blow was when I asked her if we had a rental car on our policy and she said......why can't you drive your car.....and I said....the drivers door is completely smashed in and the glass shattered.....the door does t fit properly....and it wouldn't be too good taking it anywhere w/o glass or a door that's hanging by the hinge......so she says yes you have rental coverage.....Hallelujah!!!! Lucky me.....bottom line is don't but your insurance from State Farm.....their once personal attention has been sold to the highest bidder and Desjardins are only interested in the dollars....

Client's nightmare came true

I had a car accident, (not at fault) on near end of April 2019. I called for a claim which took about 30mins, filling up all the information. My car had 4 panels and some parts inside the engine bay to repair. I had a talk with claim advisor saying that I was 100% not at fault because I had a dashcam which saved me a lot of trouble. Also, I was informed that my insurance rate should not go up after this. Some of the coworkers were friendly but somewhat confusing... My personal claim advisor who was named on my file wasn't available because he was on vacation. So, I asked if another one could work with me through this file and they literally said: "you have to ask this person that's in charge of your file". Sadly, they took literally almost 2 months to process on the insurance stuff such as "photos for confirmation", and additional photos before confirming the estimate... I had to chase them down every week and my patience ran so thin. After almost a month and a half of chasing them, the autobody shop decided to preorder the parts without insurance company giving them go-go because they were simply taking forever. It literally took less than a week for bodyshop to repair and after the car was fully repaired, the insurance gave bodyshop "good to go". I got my car back on June 21th 2019. But the nightmare doesn't end there. A month later, I looked over the policy papers from the insurance. To my surprise, the rate did go up by $100. (Monthly rate). I simply don't understand anymore about this insurance company. This insurance company is literally a massive money grab. They will literally "take your $$" by wasting your time 1-2 months before you get your car back. And then raise your rate up afterwards.

Do not deal with State Farm

My name is Martin W. I live in Fort McMurray. I have an impeccable driving record. I have been with State Farm for over five years and never had a claim or speeding ticket. My vehicle was hit while I was parked in the Peter Pond Mall in Fort McMurray. There was NO liability on my part. It was only minor bumper damage. The other driver went out of his way to find me and admitted liability. His company (the Cooperators) were more customer oriented and accommodating to me than my own insurer, and I was more than accommodating as a client of State Farm than they have been to me. State Farm recommended Londonderry Collision in Edmonton, which was a drive and hotel stay away for me (450 km one way!) I had to go down twice on my own dime because State Farm had the quote for the damage in hand, and assured me that it would be approved by the time I got to Edmonton, but it wasn't. So I had to drive to Edmonton from Fort McMurray TWICE! When I booked the rental car for the duration of the repairs, I told the State Farm claims office that I would not be able to get down to pick up my car on the day it would be fixed because I work rotating 6 on 6 off shifts, and I'm WAY UP NORTH. The claims adjuster for State Farm, even after hearing my explanation of my particular situation and WHY I couldn't just leave my job on a whim and drive 450 km, said she wouldn't approve the additional days. Guess where we are with this now? Its going to our respective lawyers...for a measly two or three hundred dollars of car rental fees!! I would not recommend State Farm and am in the process of finding another insurance company.
