Worst company ever

Worst company ever, there’s a reason they have so many bed reviews. They lie and tell you something different every time you call. They over charge and over sell. Try to tell you have have to have life insurance so you buy more forgetting to tell you the true reason is they are on commission.

No communication, renewal dates consistently change with notice. Rates are higher then most companies. Went to cancel and magically my dates had changed, even tought I never moved or changed my policy.

I have very bad experience having claim with State Farm. They didn't pay the claim even I had the video of the accident and suggested me to go to the Court.

Bad customer service change of companies constantly and change your renewal dates every time so it’s almost impossible to change to another computer. I would never use it again or recommend it to anyone.

Agent rude & unprofessional

by State Farm in Peel on Apr 28, 2017
1 out of 5 stars

I had been a State Farm auto insurance customer for over 30 years. My agent retired in 2016 and was replaced by someone else, in another location office. When I called recently about possible reduction of my combined auto/home insurance, they had no information on file except my name and address. I may as well of just walked in off the sidewalk. All I got were excuses, "oh our system is being updated" ... you should call us when you got news your agent was retiring.." No mailed material indicated I should contact them at renewal time. When I indicated that I was the customer and they should contact me - they said "do you know how many customers that would be and how long that would take?" I was laying over $200/month and found another provider who'd save me $600 a year compared to State Farm. Then I made the mistake of contacting my agent again requesting HR amount charged if I were to cancel all of my policies before renewal. They told me to "contact our head office in Quebec", they gave me the underwriters contact information?! Even the underwriters said who told you to contact us? And they contacted my agent. State Farm never offers discounts even when you call them. Ask them to match a competitor and they will not. Given the amount of money I'd spent with State Farm for 3 decades, they couldn't have turned out worse. Go to any other insurance provider rather than State Farm.

Worst customer service

by Yol on Mar 18, 2017

Customer service on the phone is useless and rude.
I had to speak to someone from the head office regarding cancellation of my 3 auto policies that I was unaware of because my agent couldn't figure out how to update my address, despite the fact that I told them to update it multiple times (yet they kept mailing letters to my old address).
Customer service on the phone would just transfer me multiple times to another department just so they don't have to deal with it. Not until I posted something on social media that they had no other choice but to let the right person contacted me and honoured the corrective action, which they should've done months sooner.
What a painful process and a waste of my time. Awful company

Worst company

Had a bad experience when I tried to put my car in storage and keeping only fire and theft coverage. Since state farm is bought out by Certas insurance, their new guideline does not allow customers to delete collision and liability insurance when putting a car in storage. I was told that I would only save $12 off my $149 monthly premium. My friend is only paying $7/month for putting his car in storage with another insurance company. It makes no sense because my car sits in my garage at home and I am not driving it! The risk is reduced significantly but the premium is not. This is totally an unfair practice just to keep to make the insurance company money. I am forced to keep my collision and liability coverage because" if I get hit by another car as a pedestrian or passenger, I am covered by my auto policy"...that's complete BS. I will be covered first by my own health and disability insurance through work (it precedes my auto policy according to state farm's policy). I can also access the other driver's liability insurance. Why do I need to pay state farm to cover me? what risk are they covering? worst company ever. The agent's assistant even told me "no one will be able to help you. there is no phone number you can call". Will never recommend this company. I am going to recommend family and friends to switch company too if they are insured with state farm.

If you have a good driving record in AB, you should pay around $110/month (women - $105/month and men - $113/month). Do you overpay? Get an Alberta car insurance quote to start saving.

Not good at all

From the very beginning this company, sitting in person and on the phone, refused to answer my questions, gave me a quote that was not the actual monthly amount, and had the worst customer service when trying to clarify the increase in monthly charges. The paper statement with both vehicles on it was hard to understand. The agent ignored my questions repeatedly about why I need to be rated and why they need my current policy number and insurance company to remove me as a secondary driver. I'm so angry right now I can't even type well. DO NOT (and i ignored other peoples warnings because I thought maybe it was just them) Do NOT get your policies with State Farm! Stay away from the Barrie, ON branch!
