AVOID

by Appalled on Jun 4, 2015

Our car was hit in our condo parking lot while it was parked. The offenders had personal. Their inability to return phone calls and relay information back to the victims caused massive delays in repairs, and we wound up getting charged insurance for the rental vehicle while ours was being repaired. Now in the process of disputing that charge, but not holding out much hope. Avoid at all costs!

That made a huge mistake!

They took off the insurance on the car that was in circulation! I was driving thé car without collision and responsibility for 5 months! They just told me that "we made a mistake and we would have covered you in case of a claim" i can imagine the hassle that I would have gone through if ever I had a big claim! I wanted some sort of a rebate or a credit for their mistake too keep me as a satisfied customer but they did not want anything! I will take find another company and cut them loose! Stay away from them and their parent company Desjardins!

Did you know that on average Ontario drivers with good driving records pay $1,805/year in auto insurance? Is your insurance rate higher? Get a free car insurance quote and start saving today.

There is nothing good to say, in fact if I could give no stars I would. This is quite literally the most deceptive, dishonest, & corrupt insurance company. The insurance company of the person at fault was better at helping us than our own company, and yes you read that correctly, we were not even at fault for the accident!!!!! Not to mention the many times we caught their errors and informed them they had enrolled us incorrectly for insurance, prior to the accident even happening. DO NOT USE this insurance company, their lower rates are NOT worth it!!!

Irresponsible Company

This is one of the worst companies in existence. When I screw up I pay, when they screw up I still ended up paying.

I had home and auto insurance with them, but somehow the addresses for the two were different and I never got my insurance card. They were sending it next door constantly and I kept calling and saying "I don't have it, I don't have it". None of them looked at THEIR FILES to see that the two unit numbers were different. I got ticketed 2 times for not having my insurance card, but when I confronted them they blamed me for it. How is it MY FAULT that THEIR FILES are incorrect? I guess I should have gone by and inputted my own information. As well someone put a false claim through after they tried to scam money from me for an "accident" and they wanted $2000 out of my pocket, when I told them to drop dead, they filed a claim, when I told the insurance what happened, they put an at fault accident on my record for something where there was NO PAYOUT AND NO DAMAGE. Amazing how I am now treated by the insurance industry like a criminal when I have paid my insurance for 12 years and have never had a pay out against me.

Never use this horrible company, they are rotten. I would give them negative stars if I could. They are one of the most unreliable people and you will be sorry for using their services because they will screw you on purpose.

Don't Insure With Them!

ZERO Stars! Someone hit my parked vehicle and left the scene - witnesses recorded all info and called police - driver located and ticketed and police obtained all of her insurance info. Should be cut and dry for me but isn't - claims person originally told me (via a voice mail message) we would still have to pay deductable and for replacement rental - now won't return calls - appears to have zero interest in having another insurance company pay the claim. Now have been waiting for 30 mins on general line, waiting to speak with another claims person. Horrible experience - will be changing to another company as soon as I can.

If you have a good driving record in AB, you should pay around $110/month (women - $105/month and men - $113/month). Do you overpay? Get an Alberta car insurance quote to start saving.

Auto claim collision with deer

The first claims advisor did explain everything to me on the phone, and I was pleasantly surprised to discover that for a deer strike the comprehensive deductible of $100 is paid instead of the $500 deductible if a collision with a car or other object. Took the car to the bodyshop. A few days later received a letter from a different claims advisor with her phone number. She was not very responsive to voicemail but I did speak to her once during the start of the initial 5 weeks the car was in the body shop for very minor front bumper damage. Then there was another 4 week wait for a back ordered part, not the fault of the insurance company, but they sure don't do anything to try to get the bodyshop to speed up. I was dissatisfied with a couple of minor issues with the car at the bodyshop, I left messages for the claims advisor and never did hear back from her. I did receive another letter from the Personal with a survey asking me to rate my experience at the bodyshop and with the claims advisor. Overall I'm glad my car is back and it only cost me $100.

is anyone listening?

It has been hard to get to my actual adjuster.... many people step forward claiming to be from the insurance Co but are really subs or vendors the Insurance Co would like you to deal with. Once I twigged to this... and started speaking directly with my adjuster... promises began being made re appointments that were not lived up to. When I ask to speak with a supervisor I was told "paperwork has been initiated to have a supervisor contact you".... one week later and I'm still waiting. I don't think the Personal is the way to go if you like responsiveness in a service provider.

Submitted a claim for a no fault accident after being a customer for 13 years. Gave me the run around, very unprofessional. I feel they went out of their way to make things difficult. Horrible, awful, experience.

No details!!

I was shopping for car insurance, as my former insurer was getting too pricey. The agent at The Personal seemed nice enough, and the rate was oddly much lower than any company I had called, including brokers, esp for the area I live in and the car I drive. However, when asked if he could send me a copy of the quote detailing the premium along with the principle amount I would be paying for each type of coverage, he stated,

"Sorry, we can't do that. You need to sign up first, then we'll send you all the paperwork to review."

Shouldn't you send me everything first so I can REVIEW it and THEN sign off on the documents? Why would anyone sign up for insurance first and then look over the documents? That makes NO sense! Even with the lowest premium, their conduct of business seemed odd and when I inquired with another company, they said that what they asked of me was ILLEGAL!

I felt the agent rushed me just to sign me up.
Needless to say, I had to go with the 2nd best option I had.
