I had 2 cars insured with La Capital, but recently sold one of them to lease a new one. When I was looking for insurance for the new car, I found a MUCH better rate (~2/3 of the price), with another company, to insure both of my cars. When I cancelled my insurance with La Capitale, however, I was charged a fee of $15 for one car, which was near the end of its contract, and $115 for the other, which was ~6 months from the end of its contract (that's almost 1/4 of the annual premium). The one that I was charged more for had been insured with La Capitale for 8 years, but apparently every time the insurance was renewed, it was for a new 2-year policy (fine print?). The idea of being charged a cancellation fee after insuring my 2 cars for 8 and 14 years respectively strikes me as a ridiculous cash grab. La Capital now has $130 more of my money than I would have liked... but I will NEVER insure anything else with them. That $130 has cost them what could have amounted to thousands/tens of thousands of dollars in car/home insurance premiums in the future. That's not just bad customer service... it's bad business.
