Shame on AMA Insurance!

Half hour wait to connect, asked me personal question and told my insurance rate changes due to being single, hung up when I asked questions why.
Please, Please go with another insurance Company. This Company was the most scummy Insurance company I have ever had and honestly if I could have afforded a lawyer to sue the crap out of them I would have. Insanely long story over the course of 5+ years but TLDR:
I had a loan for a $60,000 car and took it on and off parking insurance for the winter ( it was a nice car and I only drove it in the summer )
When you have a loan it is REQUIRED you have full insurance if you drive it.
Spring time I had requested them to put my car back on full insurance in person.
The person who assisted me made an error and gave me BASIC INSURANCE.
(I STILL TO THIS DAY DON'T EVEN KNOW HOW THAT IS POSSIBLE ON A CAR WITH A LOAN)
I obviously have an accident a short while after that (within the month) and I go to claim my insurance (cause I obviously thought I was on full insurance, they denied because I only had basic).
They stole MY documents with my signature on them when I went in person to talk to them about this to try and hide the evidence. They kicked me out and refused to give me my documents (WHICH HAD MY WRITING ON IT AND I HAD BROUGHT IN)
A short while later they Emailed the documents to me which were clearly crumpled up and thrown in the trash.
An absolute unbelievable experience dealing with them regardless of the outcome. To take documents that I BROUGHT IN and KICK ME OUT without giving me my stuff back is INSANE.
And to also not take the fault for messing up and giving me the wrong insurance is just insanity, I obviously was out all the money I put into the car, and also out all the money I paid for FULL INSURANCE UP UNTIL THAT POINT.
(Which I have proof of obviously)
I have brushed over a lot of other stuff that occurred but I HIGHLY suggest you look elsewhere for insurance. :)
Did you know that on average Ontario drivers with good driving records pay $1,805/year in auto insurance? Is your insurance rate higher? Get a free car insurance quote and start saving today.
I’ve been with AMA for 2 years and after multiple gigantic price hikes I looked into switching and realized AMA charges over 3x more for even less coverage than ANYWHERE else. They also never take out payments on time so be aware they will access your bank whenever they feel like it. Also god forbid you have to make a claim or ask any questions because their workers don’t seem to know anything. Horrible company switching before the end of this month.
Phone customer service -10000000000/10 This is my third time calling on the phone and they treat their customers terrible. Absolutely no sense of customer service. Called 3 times, 3 different answers and the way they talk is awful. A representative talking to me like she is doing me a favor when I’m the one taking my business to you. SOO RUDE. Can’t imagine people like her still stay at the job. Need some serious auditing for customer service. My money with them for a full year so I can’t do anything about it. I’m practically STUCK with them. All other insurance companies are so much better. WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE. I haven’t been this frustrated in some time a company.
We have been with AMA for over 50 years. We have had quite a few claims over this time period. The agents are always very helpful, professional, and understanding. The agent processed our recent claim quickly. She provided us with a list of authorized body shops in our area. She advised of additional coverage such as a free rental car during the repairs. She even booked the rental for us. AMA always provides value for the money. We would not go any place else for our insurance needs.
If you have a good driving record in AB, you should pay around $110/month (women - $105/month and men - $113/month). Do you overpay? Get an Alberta car insurance quote to start saving.
I was insured with AMA for 3 years. Satisfied with their service, but they always raise monthly payments, does not matter if a customer had a collision, or not. Too expensive!
My son needed auto insurance. We are with Canadian Direct but they are merging or being bought out by Belair Insurance. I would have gone with our existing auto insurer but they are no longer taking any new clients due to the merger with Belair. I received just mediocre customer service while trying to sign up with Belair. I decided to try AMA and was very happy with their service. They were about $280 per year more but the young lady who handled our insurance paperwork was amazing and exceptional in customer service. She explained everything to us and my son. We are very happy with the customer service and already like AMA's other services. I wanted this to be a great first experience for my son and was very pleased. I recommend the Crowfoot AMA. Great people and very professional service. Keep up the good work. Kudos the the nice lady for her genuine care and caring attitude. I will surely be seriously considering switching our other vehicle insurance to AMA coming renewal date. Thank you!

DON'T BE FOOLED BY AMA INSURANCE!
I went in to get insurance on my 18 year old vehicle. My wife and I are senior citizens. We signed the paperwork presented to us, which included a statement about a $100 premium retention if we cancelled the policy within 30 days. We specifically asked the agent, before signing the paperwork what would happen if we sold the vehicle, and he clearly told us that there would be a $100 premium retention if we cancelled early. The quoted premium for 1 year was $2,267, which is fairly close to the value of the vehicle.
Less than 48 hours later, we found a national insurer who offered us exactly the same coverage for $450 for 1 year. So we went back in to the AMA office to cancel the policy (less than 48 hours of receiving it). The agent told us we would not only lose the $100 premium retention, but they would also be charging us a $100 penalty for early cancellation. This 'penalty' was not mentioned in any of the paperwork we signed, nor was it mentioned by the original issuing agent.
We spoke to a supervisor, but she didn't care. She just said we breached the contract and would have to suffer the penalty for it. She didn't care that we were long time members of AMA, and she didn't care that we are seniors on a fixed income. In the end, we had to leave without any satisfaction because it was clear that they were not going to do anything for us. Their ethical practice and behaviour in forcing us to accept a penalty that was not mentioned in any conversation or described in any contractual documentation for less than 48 hours is despicable. SHAME ON AMA INSURANCE!
