Thank you for coming out and doing such a great job. Got my tires topped up and a boost. Couldn’t have asked for better service. You’re the best.

Inconsistent quotes

by Alastair on Mar 18, 2024

I have been an customer of AMA for many years and it is now time to leave. I am in process of buying a new car and wanted to insure it through AMA. I got several quotes over the course of a few days and they were always changing. Finally I got a quote that I could live with only to have them tell me that they needed to increase it. This is after spending hours on the phone with them.

To be fair the last agent that I had did a great job. Ultimately the company let both her and me down.

DO NOT USE AMA

Please, Please go with another insurance Company. This Company was the most scummy Insurance company I have ever had and honestly if I could have afforded a lawyer to sue the crap out of them I would have. Insanely long story over the course of 5+ years but TLDR:
I had a loan for a $60,000 car and took it on and off parking insurance for the winter ( it was a nice car and I only drove it in the summer )
When you have a loan it is REQUIRED you have full insurance if you drive it.
Spring time I had requested them to put my car back on full insurance in person.
The person who assisted me made an error and gave me BASIC INSURANCE.
(I STILL TO THIS DAY DON'T EVEN KNOW HOW THAT IS POSSIBLE ON A CAR WITH A LOAN)
I obviously have an accident a short while after that (within the month) and I go to claim my insurance (cause I obviously thought I was on full insurance, they denied because I only had basic).
They stole MY documents with my signature on them when I went in person to talk to them about this to try and hide the evidence. They kicked me out and refused to give me my documents (WHICH HAD MY WRITING ON IT AND I HAD BROUGHT IN)
A short while later they Emailed the documents to me which were clearly crumpled up and thrown in the trash.
An absolute unbelievable experience dealing with them regardless of the outcome. To take documents that I BROUGHT IN and KICK ME OUT without giving me my stuff back is INSANE.
And to also not take the fault for messing up and giving me the wrong insurance is just insanity, I obviously was out all the money I put into the car, and also out all the money I paid for FULL INSURANCE UP UNTIL THAT POINT.
(Which I have proof of obviously)
I have brushed over a lot of other stuff that occurred but I HIGHLY suggest you look elsewhere for insurance. :)

Did you know that on average Ontario drivers with good driving records pay $1,805/year in auto insurance? Is your insurance rate higher? Get a free car insurance quote and start saving today.

Privacy Concerns

by AMA Not so good on Dec 19, 2023
1.5 out of 5 stars

I recently phoned AMA to let them know I wouldn’t be renewing my auto insurance. I did this because when I didn’t renew my home insurance I was plagued with email messages, phone calls, and letters about renewing my home insurance. I wanted to avoid that.

The representative kept saying I was cancelling my policy. I clarified that I was not cancelling it - I wanted it to continue until the policy’s end date in December.

This week I received a letter confirming that I asked them to ‘cancel’ my automobile policy. I would have ignored this except at the bottom of the letter it indicated they had CC’d the company that I have a loan with for my vehicle.

Why did they violate my privacy? Do they own shares in that finance company! Even so wouldn’t that be an inappropriate conflict of interest?

If they were concerned I was going to break the law by not having insurance, why write to a company that can’t enforce that law?
It seems to me this was a kind of juvenile petulant tactic to show their displeasure that I wasn’t renewing with them.

I had insurance with another company which took effect a day before my AMA policy expired before even advising them I was not going to renew with them. That really isn’t their business and I feel it’s a breach of my privacy. Not professional or appropriate.

Y’all aren’t ready for this one
Okay, so one day I decide I don’t wanna be with AMA anymore so I call and cancel my insurance, and pay whatever I need to pay so that they can finalize my cancellation I think I’m in there clear, the same day I sign up with a completely different insurance company. A couple of weeks pass by and to my surprise, AMA was still taking money but it was completely within their rights too because of the insurance term BUT another month goes by and AMA was still taking money from me, so I called them and was just disrespected from the beginning of the phone call to the end. But this dispute went one for days, and I was only able to get less than $300 but I was paying insurance over $400.

WORST COMPANY EVER TO DEAL

by Honest Reviewer on Oct 5, 2020

Phone customer service -10000000000/10 This is my third time calling on the phone and they treat their customers terrible. Absolutely no sense of customer service. Called 3 times, 3 different answers and the way they talk is awful. A representative talking to me like she is doing me a favor when I’m the one taking my business to you. SOO RUDE. Can’t imagine people like her still stay at the job. Need some serious auditing for customer service. My money with them for a full year so I can’t do anything about it. I’m practically STUCK with them. All other insurance companies are so much better. WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE. I haven’t been this frustrated in some time a company.

Loyalty means nothing to AMA

by T.S. on Aug 9, 2020

During COVID times, my father was in and out of the hospital and I was in an air cast for almost 6 months. My daughter and I worked together to become a multigenerational household to reduce expenses. Unfortunately, by doing this, the AMA decided that by having my daughter and son-in-law in the same home, I have to put them as full-time drivers on my policy changing my insurance payments from ~233$ per month to~550$ per month. Resetting my policy back to day 1. They then demanded that I pay the first 3 months immediately as a new client/policy, not even taking into account the 15 interrupted years as a client. It’s heartbreaking to be treated so poorly. There was some miscommunication during the move, but it was not necessary to be so aggressive and threatening in their response. I guess this is just an invitation for me to leave and look for a different insurance company that cares about loyalty, history and compassion during difficult times.

Good, but expensive

I was insured with AMA for 3 years. Satisfied with their service, but they always raise monthly payments, does not matter if a customer had a collision, or not. Too expensive!

Great customer service

My son needed auto insurance. We are with Canadian Direct but they are merging or being bought out by Belair Insurance. I would have gone with our existing auto insurer but they are no longer taking any new clients due to the merger with Belair. I received just mediocre customer service while trying to sign up with Belair. I decided to try AMA and was very happy with their service. They were about $280 per year more but the young lady who handled our insurance paperwork was amazing and exceptional in customer service. She explained everything to us and my son. We are very happy with the customer service and already like AMA's other services. I wanted this to be a great first experience for my son and was very pleased. I recommend the Crowfoot AMA. Great people and very professional service. Keep up the good work. Kudos the the nice lady for her genuine care and caring attitude. I will surely be seriously considering switching our other vehicle insurance to AMA coming renewal date. Thank you!
