Please, protect your family. Do not rely on them

Be careful: the company relay on third-party towing Trucks. If they don't find anything around, you will have to wait in the middle of the highway for 3 or 4 hours.

Customer Service experience

by Ms. Salazar on May 31, 2022
5 out of 5 stars

I had a great experience when I reported and needed help regarding a recent collision. The guy I talked to was really awesome. He was very calm and very nice to talk to. I hope all the customer service staff are like him. The action was very quick. I was able to have my car estimated for the damage right away and was able to book an appointment for repair.

Hire some staff!

Every time you try and call expect to be put on hold for at least an hour. The recorded message says "we are experiencing higher than normal call volumes" but this is every single call. It is just disrespectful of its clients, It sours the entire experience.

If you have a good driving record in AB, you should pay around $110/month (women - $105/month and men - $113/month). Do you overpay? Get an Alberta car insurance quote to start saving.

Do not get your auto insurance from this amateur outfit!

It took 6 weeks to fix my car after my car was hit by an RCMP ghost van doing a high-speed chase in a parking lot. The RCMP took full responsibility for the crash.
1) I called BCAA and they told me I had to talk to ICBC first.
2) I contacted Craftsman Collision to get my car repaired. They told me to bring in the car a week later.
3) The steering and front end were bent but Craftsman said seeing I only lived a mile away they would not give me a rental.
4) I told BCAA the car was not safe to drive but they refused to give me a safe car to commute with.
5)Two weeks later BCAA told me the car was a write-off and would not fix it.
6) One week later when they realized my car was worth more than they thought so they agreed to fix it.
7)Three weeks later the car was fixed but they refused to refund the $500 deductible until I got the RCMP to admit fault.
8)ICBC phoned BCAA twice to tell them they had contacted the RCMP and they were at fault.
9) ICBC arranged a conference call with me, ICBC and BCAA.
10) After that call BCAA said they would not take ICBC’s word for it and would have to investigate it themselves.
11) Two months later still no $500 rebate for the deductible.
One question - do you want BCAA auto insurance?

Not worth...

If you are hoping for any type of compassion or help from these people then you should look elsewhere. The appraiser we dealt with was extremely rude and forced my wife into a corner with settling an appraisal. This company is only in it for the money which you will never see used for your well-being.

Horrible company

Had car issues. They took over 3 hours to confirm they were coming. Left car with keys inside late at night. At 5 am the next morning I find out they never showed up to get the car. The next day was Nov.11th and they were closed. Never got a message or heard from them regarding the claim. First time using BCAA and the last time. Ridiculously unprofessional company.

Hard to deal with

I just recently had a total loss of my 2010 Santa Fe. The adjuster assigned to my claim has been curt and unprofessional thru emails. There are spelling and grammatical errors and zero pleasantries. It’s given me a feeling of being unwelcome. I did repairs and maintenance to my vehicle on July 10th of $2900 and in June spent $1400. On July 14th a deer totalled the vehicle. Prior to the knowledge of the work done which included four brand new tires costing $824 and two ball joints, brake callipers etc... the adjuster came up $500 from the original settlement offer. What a kick in the teeth. The entire time I have been hounded to send the signed registration. I had a great experience with them the entire time I’ve been forking out money with no claims, but the second I need to “cash in” I’m a nuisance.

Not trustworthy.

I needed a battery boost and when I called BCAA to request help, it was not disclosed over the phone that Immediate Access to Roadside Assistance costs and extra $50 + plus basic membership of $80. When the facts are not mentioned, it feels like I was scammed by BCAA, The facts were not fully disclosed. I had mentioned over the phone several times that I wanted the cheapest/best value membership but I was quoted $136. Had I known that I could have only paid $80 for membership, then I would have requested someone to give my car a boost instead. They also force automatic renewal at the end of the year! You don't have consent if you would like to renew or not! This is truly a scam BCAA! I would never buy Home Insurance from BCAA. I would never by Travel Insurance from BCAA. I would never recommend anyone to use BCAA. Buyer Beware!

Unknowledgable staff

I just purchased a vehicle and had the lady at the dealership doing my insurance called to update my policy. We were on hold for 45 minutes while she kept asking co-workers about our questions. Meanwhile, I was late for an appointment but couldn't leave until we got this done. The agent also said this is normal for them, and you usually have to call 5-10 times to actually get through. I will not be renewing with BCAA and will be phoning the branch to tell them they should have experienced agents answering the phone.

Optional Auto Insurance? NOT!

by Kyle (not impressed) on Aug 30, 2019
1 out of 5 stars

As a BCAA home insurance customer... I thought about purchasing BCAA optional Auto Insurance! As everyone knows... British Columbia has the highest auto insurance rates in the country. I am a person who owns three vehicles so I wanted to see what kind of discounts I would get by purchasing BCAA optional Auto Insurance! I saved approximately $200 per year per vehicle! One day I went outside to get into my truck in front of my house and the side window was smashed out... I made the call... BCAA gave me the number to the insurance provider that they use. Five phone calls later and an hour or so of my time... I really started to get frustrated! I eventually asked the glass company how much my bill was going to be! The total bill was $326... My deductible was $300... I decided that making a claim with this insurance company wasn't worth $26 and hours of my precious time! At renewal time I will not be purchasing optional insurance from BCAA... It even scares me about my home insurance!!! It's kind of scary!
