Liars to save money.

My wife had to deal with this company because of a car accident right after she got fired because they told her company she settled and that's what they were waiting for. Also told us that the MSP BC medical would cover the cost of the pain clinic, well that's true if your 30+ because they won't give anyone else young the corazon shots as they wreck your bones. And she lost $3500 depreciation value of her car and they said that's not their problem, oh really how the driver that hit us was insured through you. If you ever have experience with a claim with these people don't settle with what they offer you they are just lucky I don't have money for a lawyer to sue for misleading also reveals personal info. This company is terrible and I hope I never have to deal with them again and I hope nobody else does either.

While I am sometimes discouraged to know that cheaper insurance can be bought elsewhere, I am reminded often enough that my claims experiences have been 100% satisfactory. Most recently my 17-year-old daughter wrote off my mini cooper. As soon as I called in the claim, I was immediately provided with a rental car. A few days later the insurance was looking after physio and massage for the minor whiplash and concussion injury of the accident. (She walked away from a nasty collision). After a few more days I received a cheque to pay out the loan on the mini. It was as much as I paid for the used car which I'd bought only 5 months earlier. I had no arguments, and the rep called to ensure my daughter was receiving proper treatment. In other claims (there have been a few), all 100% fault to the other drivers, I have been given 100% satisfactory service. After the mini write-off, my daughter's car insurance soared through the roof, but a few months later she was off to University away from home. I was able to list her as living away, and while still insured as an occasional driver when home for holidays and the summer, my rates returned to pre-accident normal, since she was the primary driver on the mini but now removed. Wow, $4500.00 can buy a lot of uber rides for her while away.

Nightmare Claiming Experience

I got T-boned by someone who didn't stop at a stop sign. I am not at fault.

TD insisted on writing off my car, and the settlement they offered is way lower than the market price.

I tried to argue, despite my doctor's suggestion that I should avoid thinking too much due to my injury in the accident. But TD didn't care at all and they even lowered their settlement price. I also tried to complain and to talk to the ombudsman. But they are all bouncing me around between adjuster, manager, customer service etc... At one point they even thread me by saying that they have so many lawyers and welcome me to bring the case to court.

I have never had any issue with TD until I filed this claim. But is it the reason why I buy insurance?

Avoid this company, you had my suggestion.

Argued for 3 weeks

I was rear ended at a high rate of speed on the Gardiner, my car needed a new bumper, trunk, and gas tank. They bullied me into going to a 'recommended' shop (carstar), where carstar originally quoted me at 1600. When I contested the price, they came back in sheer spite and said 2400 for repairs. After 3 weeks of back and forth arguing with them to repair my truck, they refused to even touch it, and nothing was done at Carstar. This is after 3 weeks people.
They offered me 1600 to go get it repaired wherever I wanted to, but I would take on the responsibility for my own repairs. Hello? Who was at fault here? I was rear ended. They didn't even respond to my message about the massage therapy and the chiropractor. My adjustor refused to write anything in an email, and just wanted me to sign for a cheque. Obviously she knew she was violating my rights as a claimant and didn't want me to go to a lawyer with evidence.
Eventually, after 10+ phone calls, a manager approved the repairs at the mechanic of MY choice. Except it was my responsibility to organize a tow truck to take it there at MY expense. Luckily I had CAA roadside assistance to help.
My recommendation when dealing with them is to have everything done via email, so you have a paper trail when you require your own lawyer and appraiser to get out there and give you the true value of your vehicle. Stay away from TD, they do not have your back even when you are the victim.

Screwed by Security National

Three years ago, I cancelled my auto insurance on car "A" when I obtained car "B". Or at least that's what I requested. Three years later, I discovered that TD had continued to withdraw payments from my account every month. When I called to have TD address this, and even though I have been a TD Insurance customer for 30 years for my home and two cars, they said that they would reimburse me in the total amount of....$0!
Not very smart TD. I will gladly sue (and seek interest and cost), use every social media outlet available, and cancel my TD insurance accounts (for which I have paid TD over $100K in my lifetime).

Car written off - hail damage

by ericstewart22 on Aug 19, 2014

I live in Ottawa, Ontario and I've been with TD Meloche Monex / Security National Insurance Company for about 3 years now. My car suffered quite a bit of hail damage during a storm a few years ago and when I went to claim it, the process was quite straight-forward and no strings attached. The insurance company wrote off the car and refused to insure it without having significant superficial repairs done to the body work. This seems quite silly and wasteful to me, especially considering it's my premiums that pay for insurance pay-outs, to write-off a car because of superficial damage, but they weren't the only insurance company to tell me this. On the plus side, the adjuster gave me a great value for the car.
