Screwed by Security National

by About to be ex TD client on Jun 25, 2016

Three years ago, I cancelled my auto insurance on car "A" when I obtained car "B". Or at least that's what I requested. Three years later, I discovered that TD had continued to withdraw payments from my account every month. When I called to have TD address this, and even though I have been a TD Insurance customer for 30 years for my home and two cars, they said that they would reimburse me in the total amount of....$0!
Not very smart TD. I will gladly sue (and seek interest and cost), use every social media outlet available, and cancel my TD insurance accounts (for which I have paid TD over $100K in my lifetime).

Awful customer service

Recently I was in an accident and it took TD 5 days to get in touch with me! So I could not even get a rental. The advisor was untraceable as was his supervisor (I left over 20 messages). Then he wanted me to return rental before the settlement was even reached for my car. Rude advisor!!! Then he freaked out because I contacted his supervisor directly. Rates are great but that’s all that this company has going for them. I still have an open claim with them now and it has been 2 weeks since my injury adjuster has responded to my calls or emails. Very stressful to say the least as 6 weeks after my collision I still have not received any wage loss compensation.

Liars to save money.

My wife had to deal with this company because of a car accident right after she got fired because they told her company she settled and that's what they were waiting for. Also told us that the MSP BC medical would cover the cost of the pain clinic, well that's true if your 30+ because they won't give anyone else young the corazon shots as they wreck your bones. And she lost $3500 depreciation value of her car and they said that's not their problem, oh really how the driver that hit us was insured through you. If you ever have experience with a claim with these people don't settle with what they offer you they are just lucky I don't have money for a lawyer to sue for misleading also reveals personal info. This company is terrible and I hope I never have to deal with them again and I hope nobody else does either.

Did you know that on average Ontario drivers with good driving records pay $1,805/year in auto insurance? Is your insurance rate higher? Get a free car insurance quote and start saving today.

Argued for 3 weeks

I was rear ended at a high rate of speed on the Gardiner, my car needed a new bumper, trunk, and gas tank. They bullied me into going to a 'recommended' shop (carstar), where carstar originally quoted me at 1600. When I contested the price, they came back in sheer spite and said 2400 for repairs. After 3 weeks of back and forth arguing with them to repair my truck, they refused to even touch it, and nothing was done at Carstar. This is after 3 weeks people.
They offered me 1600 to go get it repaired wherever I wanted to, but I would take on the responsibility for my own repairs. Hello? Who was at fault here? I was rear ended. They didn't even respond to my message about the massage therapy and the chiropractor. My adjustor refused to write anything in an email, and just wanted me to sign for a cheque. Obviously she knew she was violating my rights as a claimant and didn't want me to go to a lawyer with evidence.
Eventually, after 10+ phone calls, a manager approved the repairs at the mechanic of MY choice. Except it was my responsibility to organize a tow truck to take it there at MY expense. Luckily I had CAA roadside assistance to help.
My recommendation when dealing with them is to have everything done via email, so you have a paper trail when you require your own lawyer and appraiser to get out there and give you the true value of your vehicle. Stay away from TD, they do not have your back even when you are the victim.

Unethical CallCentre Practices

by bee_smart2020 on Feb 10, 2015

I called in further to an online quote and spoke to a live agent. The call took some 20 minutes, going through scroutneous details. The agent then provided me with an impressive quote, beating most competitors.

Being a cautious shopper, I told the agent that I'll think about the offer and will call back. He insisted on calling me instead as he was "most aware of (my) situation and would offer (me) the best deal".

Long story short, I called back in a few days to move forward with the deal, only to go through the same process and get a substantially higher quote. I had the original call reviewed by a manager for accuracy, and he was able to confirm I gave them accurate information and the discrepancy was a result of "keying error".

I suspect the first agent was trying to do anything to close the deal by processing an inaccurate quote. I was advised, by the manager that called me back, that insurance companies have 60 days to change their premium, even after you've bought their insurance services.

I'm pleased to have gone through this experience at the quoting stage, as this company will fail you at every level of your dealings with them.

Escalation process took a week. The written letter confirming the initial quote is not worth the paper it's printed on.

Be extremely cautious in doing business with this company.

Dishonest and Unethical Company

I have had auto insurance with them for 15+ years. No claims. I was hit from behind and have an injury that has not healed for 2 years now. Although money will not eliminate my pain, I lost a lot of money after the accident due to being unable to stand or sit for long periods. They are not paying anything out, and they have made me attend 3 medical exams, taking several hours of my time.

If you have a good driving record in AB, you should pay around $110/month (women - $105/month and men - $113/month). Do you overpay? Get an Alberta car insurance quote to start saving.

First class customer service

I've had several bang-ups over the years, and in each case the staff made sure the paperwork was filed with my preferred body shop within an hour of the call, including having a rental car ready for me. The turnaround time has always impressed me.

Then, several years ago, I had the misfortune of being in an at fault accident that resulted in someone being injured. When I was sued, the company took the time to make sure I was okay, then retained a law firm that specialized in accident defence claims. The lawyer talked me through the lawsuit, clause by clause. I did not dispute I was responsible for the accident, but I contradicted nearly the entirety of the plaintiff's version of events. When the claimant was confronted with the truth, she dropped her claim entirely. I couldn't thank the firm enough, and the best part was I was not charged the deductible. I am glad I had this company in my corner.

They may not be the cheapest, but I trust them with home and auto. I would recommend them to anyone who asked.

You'd think that these people would appreciate their clients, but they do not. They are a scam, do not use this company if you value your money or mind. They will put an accident as your fault when you have all the evidence to say otherwise.

TD Insurance Meloche Monnex very bad experience with them

by unknown on Mar 18, 2022
1 out of 5 stars

I had an unpleasant and fraudulent TD Meloche Monnex Insurance incident. My car was parked next to my house on the street and another car crashed into my car the moment I went to my car for my reading glasses? I was hit by another car and he was dragging me with his car to the other side of the street there was a big black line visible on the road from the tires when he pushed me with his car I found myself in the hospital with a head concussion. For 4 years I was afraid to drive the car because the guy almost wanted to kill me... It looked like someone paid him to do it because he was driving on the road where is a speed limit of 45 km per hour he was driving 80km per hour at a speed of 80 km per hour also when he drugged me on the road and he already had a false witness prepared. The insurance said it was 100% my fault! I had to repair my car at my own expense I couldn't function like a normal person for almost 4 years after this accident. People this is the worst insurance you can get! A bunch of liars and thieves who steal people's money for a living, avoid this company!

Do not miss a payment

by zachery on Feb 4, 2022

Had a payment bounce (my own fault sadly). Money was not an issue, had it sitting in my savings rather than a chequing account. I immediately noticed after payment was attempted, and put the money into the account. (Usually, if it is less than a 12 hour period, they will make a second attempt before completely writing you off)... Well not with these folks, they cancelled me immediately and requested the rest of the year of my insurance must be paid in full in order to remain insured. So I did. They put this on my record as a non-payment and screwed me really bad. Here I am over a year later trying to get myself a truck, or even a full-size SUV, because of them, I am not able to get insurance for less than 4500 per year.
Horrible attitude when I called about this, and not helpful at all. I felt like I was being treated like a criminal.
