RBC Avion Travel insurance changed and now provide 3rd party insurance coverage under Allianz Insurance and my experience in submitting delayed flight and delayed luggage has been horrible. I have been trying for over a year on a flight delay during the winter storm. The lack of Allianz support and communication has been horrendous on their claim submittal process. I Would not recommend RBC Avion Travel card nor their insurance!
It's been 7 months since my medical incident, and 5 months since I submitted all receipts (the hospital took 2 months to send invoices - as Allianz (RBC's provider) would not pay hospital directly.).
After no progress for months, I had an email today asking for a receipt that was previously submitted that was somehow misplace.
Trying to get an update via phone (with long holding times) was useless. Claim was always in progress. . .
Allianz is hugely understaffed.
I'll never buy RBC insurance again, as long as Allianz is the provider.
As a long-time RBC customer, I thought I could have confidence in purchasing this insurance product. Boy, was I wrong! My case was so simple. I fell and struck my chest. After three days of considerable pain, I felt it best to go to ER and have it checked. A few questions, a simple chest xray and the doctor confirmed to fracture or concerns. No medication, nothing else required. Good - easy. Yes, it is Florida so the bill for that was $1,600. I have been fighting with this insurer for six months. Still they have not paid and continue to get threatening emails and calls from the medical provider.
Folks, this can JEOPARDIZE YOUR CREDIT RATING. They take your money and then don't pay out their claims. I will also be formally filing a complaint with the Royal Bank.
RBC, SHAME ON YOU FOR USING THEM AND EVEN ALLOWING YOUR LOGO TO APPEAR ON THEIR DOCUMENTATION. I will be closing my bank accounts @ RBC as well.
Everything said in all of the previous reviews are 100 per cent accurate. We have been dealing with Allianz for over 6 months now trying to resolve a $200 claim and had nothing but a run around. They even went as far as wanting proof of our RBC travel health purchase as the told us that they had nothing on record. Pathetic and RBC should be ashamed for even being associated with Allianz Global ASSISTANCE! Joke of a name.
Rest assured that you won’t be able to contact them, no one answers their phones. It doesn’t matter what time of day you call, they are “always experiencing high call volumes”. When you submit a claim, be prepared for them to ask you for the same documents over and over again. It’s been a month and I’m still waiting. It’s obvious they don’t want to pay even though they should as per their policy. They are clearly trying to frustrate me so I don’t keep asking for reimbursement. Shocking defeat the whole purpose of having insurance when you get zero benefits from them!

Visa privilege infinity card: covered by Allianz travel
Card is good if you never claim
After you experience to claim a few dollars from Allianz Travel Insurance, you will modify the question to how bad it is?
After my wife developed recurrent shingles despite being vaccinated twice against shingles, we had to cancel a trip to China. Not merely did we have a doctor’s letter stipulating to abandon that trip, but the Canadian government specifically warned all Canadians to abort trips or refrain from travelling to that area of the world. By that token, hotels, airline displacement had to be annulled. All receipts from the airlines, and travel online companies were garnered painstakingly. Those claimed specifically had limitations with no refund in case of cancellations. On a trip which was approaching a cost of 90,000$ dollars over a two month period
about 6000$ refund was claimed. After more than two years, and constant procrastination my claim was finally settled. The amount was cut to 1850$.
The task to claim is a labyrinth of formularies and a very arduous procedure. Phoning can waste your time by hanging ups or cut off after two hour wait. Allianz’s constant excuse or philosophy is that they are inundated with too many claims. They specifically state that yours will answered in timely continuity with the others on the waiting list.
They will do everything to avoid paying. I paid 3000$ with my RBC American account because the request was often in USA funds. Mistake, all had to be done with your Visa infinity travel card. A request for trip cancellation is a rare, unforeseen occurrence. In response to your claim request, the demands are so stringent that you get the impression you must be apologetic.
I thought there was security of travel with my Visa infinity card. No, if your ticket costs more than 1500$ too bad. Thus, no business class. Visa should reconsider having Allianz travel as insurer, since they are a misrepresentation of the quality of the Visa high standard.
If you haven’t made a claim, beware
If you make a claim, beware.
I shall try another company.
I have been with RBC for over 40 years, and it is my first travel claim for illness.
Best not be ill and avoid your benevolent Allianz travel insurance if you wish to be reimbursed what you consider an honest claim.
