Allianz is the WORST - SHAME ON RBC!!!

by J. A. Law, Port Coquitlam, BC. on Mar 23, 2022
1 out of 5 stars

I have used RBC TRAVEL INSURANCE many times with no problems whatsoever. Now that ALLIANZ has taken over you wait hours to get in touch with them. On the first day spent 3 hours trying to get through to them. The next day, I got up at 5 am BC time to get in touch with them on eastern time only to be told that there was no BC licensed agent that could handle my update on travel. Someone would call me back within 48 hours. 3rd day, Heading into 26 hours and still nothing. Am I to stop everything in my life waiting for service to extend my policy. My travel is in May. Guess I will have to write off my deposit and go to a live person and light insurer. SHAME ON RBC...

Very Difficult To Contact During Emergency

by Jasleen on Jan 15, 2022
1 out of 5 stars

Trying desperately to get some help abroad but the endless long hold does not help much. Why would you put someone on hold for hours when they are calling for help when dealing with an EMERGENCY. Expect so much more from RBC - very disappointed. Oh and forgot to mention - PATH app does not exist on the play store - best of luck finding it...

Not covered for covid

by Frank on Jan 15, 2022
2.5 out of 5 stars

When I bought travel insurance in November for travel from January 8 to April I was covered for covid. Now 1 week into my trip I learned that covid was taken off on December 23 due to a government non-essential travel advisory.
Rbc did not inform me of the changes, so now I'm on my trip without covid insurance. Fine if they want to make a change but need to tell me about it so I can make the necessary changes. I find their action rude and probably illegal. They broke our contract and kept my money.

As useful as not having any insurance

by Amanda on Nov 30, 2021

The worst travel insurance ever! RBC are using Allianz and you CANNOT contact them. They state you need to contact them as soon as you need medical assistance abroad. On hold for 2 HOURS while in the emergency department abroad and they NEVER answered. They have never responded to subsequent emails and attempts to make a claim online are so convoluted that you can never complete it. DO NOT recommend!

Waste of Money and Time

by RPhilli on Oct 1, 2021
1 out of 5 stars

I have called to file a claim on 4 different occasions and was on hold for 2+ hours each time. The email to file a claim said they're sorry if they can't meet their 15 WEEK promised email response time. Making an account with their online insurance provider doesn't allow you to file a claim even though they say it does and tell you to call (and never get through to a person) if it doesn't. Overall, it seems like they make the process of filing a claim so difficult in the hopes you'll just give up and not do it.

Worst insurer ever. Did not cover emergency treatment when was being flown back to home country. Left with thousands of dollars of medical expenses which RBC should have covered.

Travel and RBC Avion visa

by Bobinwaiting on Dec 10, 2015
1 out of 5 stars

Bought RBC travel insurance and also used my RBC Avion visa card insurance. Wife had an accident the day before diving trip 6500 US funds plus airfare. Thinking we were covered, called in the claim. Wife was in a full-length cast. Two months later, still no refund. The RBC Avion visa card insurance now say since he didn't pay exactly half of the trip on the card they refuse to pay anything! Have filled claim complaint with Canada insurance. RBC visa website falsely states it covers travel cancellation. No mention of a percentage or amount you have to spend.
