Dishonest and Greedy

by mar1owe@telus.net on Jan 13, 2018
1 out of 5 stars

My experience with ICBC has been unspeakably horrible. Several years ago now, my mother was rear-ended in a car accident and suffered damage to her knee. ICBC was supposed to compensate her for her time lost from work, but they instead transferred her from one adjuster to another, over and over again, and eventually stopped answering her calls completely. By the time she actually got a hold of her adjuster, they told her that the file was too old, and she didn't receive a single penny. They are ridiculously expensive, far more so than insurance you can get in Alberta, Nova Scotia, etc. and they will do everything they can to avoid money under any circumstances. When I accidentally crashed my car, it wound up being cheaper to pay for the repairs myself, than to go through ICBC and deal with the increased rates.

forced pay $378 dispute claim

My father was involved in a motor vehicle accident that was staged. An east Indian male accused my father of rear-ending his red pickup truck. If you don't believe it, google my review title as the story was covered on CTV news. I went ahead and performed an FOI request to the city. The traffic footage showed a driver in a red pickup truck purposely reversing into my father's vehicle while waiting to make a left-hand turn at an intersection on a red light. I was furious and wasn't about to let the driver of the red pickup get away with it. I reached out to ICBC regarding the incident after I performed an FOI. The ICBC adjuster tried to accuse me of fabricating video evidence in my attempt to blame the other driver. I told the ICBC adjuster that he's on crack. I told the ICBC adjuster that he needs to do an FOI to obtain the video from the city or repay the $378 fee that the city charged my father for the video. The adjuster refused to do an FOI and to compensate my father for the video footage and then threatened to blame my father 100% for the accident. So I responded in kind. I reached out to CTV News and that is how the claim was eventually foiled. In the end, ICBC never performed an FOI but reimbursed my father for $378. ICBC is very lucky this did not happen to me as I was not the driver as I would have gotten a lawyer and sued ICBC for $10,000,000 for accusing me of fabricating video evidence and then trying to blame this on me without any evidence other than a word of some east Indian male driver. If I had an option for another insurance company, I would never insure my vehicle with ICBC. ICBC are legalized crooks!

ICBC tried to scam me!

I had a car accident and it wasn't my fault. I had a call from the adjuster cause my car was total loss. She called and told me that she'll give me less money for my car and told me that I'm lucky. Lucky? I injured my back and lost my beautiful car and she's telling me that I'm lucky. I got so frustrated so i hired an ICBC lawyer called Nirwan Law Corporation. Harpreet already knew my problem and after only a month I got my money from the car and in 6 months from injury. Thank you Harpreet for all your hard work. I simply recommend Harpreet to anyone who struggles with ICBC SCAMMERS!

Still in pain after 27 years.

I was rear ended by a motor home while stopped at a light in May of 1989. I suffered a whiplash injury. I went through the typical assessment of different doctors and adjusters. I called a lawyer at the the time because I felt I would be better served. The claim took under a year (was paid in Feb. of '90) and got a total settlement of just under 15k. However that injury has never healed properly as it is mostly soft tissue. As I am aging this condition is getting worse. It doesn't really matter if ICBC is the scam of the century (which clearly it is), without a properly functioning body that is in pain, what's the difference? The people that administrate these places are the types that permeate this dysfunctional, exploitive society of juvenilized people. It is time to bring back the rule of law on this land.

ICBC - Horrible!

NEVER ever deal with them if you can choose otherwise. This is the worst government company that was set up in the history of mankind. If you have the misfortune to have to deal with them, I'd say get ready for the worst experience of your life.
They will basically extort money from you in every possible way without showing anything from it. Any conversation with customer service or representatives is reduced to "You have to PAY us big, deal with it"
I know this is a bit generic, but I am summing up all my experiences I had along the years with them. I had fender benders (both my fault and 3rd party). Everytime I had to pay big money to ..., you guessed, ICBC.
Insurance company should not be forced upon and shoved down your throat like nazi Germany. Everybody should be able to choose their own insurance company. I totally agree that everyone should be insured, but not by money thirtsy, greedy zealots. Not only that, but they make you feel miserable on any and every occasion they get a chance.
HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE. Can't state enough how ICBC should just desist from doing any kind of business. If ICBC would have to compete with ANY insurance company they will be bankrupt within a few days.

If you have a good driving record in AB, you should pay around $110/month (women - $105/month and men - $113/month). Do you overpay? Get an Alberta car insurance quote to start saving.

Hit & run

my car was backed into my own driveway, i was hit and run. i pay for collision on my car. and someone smashed up all entire front bumper and grill, i called icbc and they said if it happens in a private driveway there is nothing i can do to fix this. i would have to pay for all the damage myself when someone else hit me. Why are we paying for collision when we still have to pay in the end.
I'm not happy with icbc an I'm glad ill be moving out of BC. I pay big money for what ???? Done with these stupid people that don't have the decency see to tell me they hit me. this has to come out of my own pocket, when i wasn't at fault.

Huge scam

by NSF on Jun 21, 2016

I'm grossly shameful about ICBC. They're a huge scam. I wonder how this company trying to rip off the their clients. They charged me for NSF and try to explain the situation between me and my bank but they don't even tried to hear me. And I don't even remember that I signed a specific terms pertaining to NSF. This people are evil. I hope they will be the first one in line going to hell. I'm puking myself for their evilness. I can't imagine how they can sleep well at night thinking they're trying to rip off their clients. What a shameful insurance company. They're evil.

Cindy rocks- Sechelt

by Andrea Tiffany on May 21, 2016
5 out of 5 stars

I needed to insure my brothers truck to clean out his home. He passed away last week and I am his executor. I brought in a copy of the will and a copy of the death certificate to Cindy, plus my own ID. Because she is forced to deal with computers and not human beings, the process got bogged down pretty quickly, but she persevered. It took an hour of diligent effort on her part and that of one of her co-workers on site, also, a (human) person on the phone but finally, I was able to walk out of there with the decals that I need to use the truck. Personally, I would have wanted to give up and tell me to go away, but she was friendly and encouraging and she won the day for me. So- brava Cindy and thank you.

Dictatorship

by Rockies on May 2, 2016

My first week moving to Vancouver I had out of province insurance. A BC resident hit my car, caused a lot of damage. ICBC would not take a look at both cars to compare and prove BC resident hit my car. They told me first to get it repaired under my insurance and then they would assess accident. After getting my car repaired under my insurance ICBC states they can not determine if BC resident was at fault. Unbelievable! I had to pay my deductible of $500 and I was not at fault.
