This is was happens with there is no competition

by Just another number on Apr 4, 2022
1 out of 5 stars

Dealing with ICBC has officially become a worse experience than my near-death car accident. It takes weeks to get an email response. I submitted my EI claim and all other info they needed to pay my lost wages from when I wasn’t able to work. They are supposed to top up EI to 90% of my earnings. It’s been almost a month since I’ve sent the information and still no response. I finally emailed the adjuster only to get an automatic response saying they are off work for another two weeks. This is the second time my adjuster has been gone from work for over two weeks. I started every time that I emailed them how important it is that I get my lost wages reimbursed. I nearly went bankrupt and had to borrow money from friends and family until I could start working again. If you get in a car accident you better have enough money to survive for several months without any financial reimbursement for your damaged/totalled car and for your loss of work. I feel like if insurance was privatized and there was competition in the market there would be an incentive to provide a proper service. I wish I could leave less than a one-star rating.

9 years of my life

by :( on Feb 12, 2022
1 out of 5 stars

I was seriously injured in 2013 through no fault of my own and didn’t receive fair compensation until 9 years later in 2022. They treated me horribly every step of the way. I hope I’m an anomaly but sadly I believe the horrible experience I had is typical of most human beings asking for fair support after being seriously injured on BC roads. I fought for the entire community of accident victims. Sadly this organization systematically bullies accident victims and people with disabilities.

Wait time to talk to human is too long

With a wait time of over 30 min to ask a simple question... Pathetic support service. Their website is the worse website I have come across.

Did you know that on average Ontario drivers with good driving records pay $1,805/year in auto insurance? Is your insurance rate higher? Get a free car insurance quote and start saving today.

ICBC unprofessional & rip-off rates

by Chris O'Connor on Jan 27, 2022

My recent dealings with ICBC were upsetting, to say the least!
They have no regard for customer service, you call them and it takes 2 to 3 hours to finally talk to someone there. They are extremely unprofessional. BC residents are forced to deal with them as its operated by the government with outrageously high fees.
I would not recommend them at all.

Mean uncaring people

by Disbelief/ not trust worthy on Jan 25, 2022
1.3 out of 5 stars

My wife and I were hit by a drunk driver, instead of the ICBC agent being kind and thoughtful they made her feel like she was lying about her injuries and it took two years or more to settle this. My wife was mentally fine after the accident but after dealing with ICBC for over two years she developed PTSD. She will probably never work again but minimal money they gave her. They are making money from other people's suffering. Shame on You!

Car unsafe

by Bopseek on Jan 4, 2022
2.3 out of 5 stars

It started when I hit a bear near Clinton BC.
First, it took 2 weeks to get it to the repair center then it 6 weeks to get parts which weren't anyone's fault.
But shortly after I got the car back my abs, traction control, service transmission, steering reduced, propulsion power were reduced. I have a record that all of this came up right after my accident. Now ICBC is saying that how can I prove that it's not a manufacturer's defect. Basically, the car is not safe to drive now because of the snow and icy weather. The NEW ICBC is no better than the old one.

I find Jackie in the North Vernon office to be very knowledgeable & accommodating. She is my “go-to” person when it comes to insurance. If she doesn’t know the answer to my question, she’ll always get the answer to me shortly.

Having an agent answer a call takes forever when they only work business hours only. How is anyone suppose to talk to anyone when they have the worst hours possible

They just take, take and take more of your already taxed money, 42$ for a transfer! 2 mins of printing papers=aweful, on top If you want to take insurance off your car or bike, you return the plates you paid for, no refund, then they charge you again for more plates next time.... absolute criminals...

If you have a good driving record in AB, you should pay around $110/month (women - $105/month and men - $113/month). Do you overpay? Get an Alberta car insurance quote to start saving.

Terrible Rates/service

My insurance is $4900 a year for an old VW. (Used to be over $5000), I have no accidents or tickets and I have been driving for 5 years. The price is the highest anywhere in the world and it seems to be completely arbitrary who gets the better prices and who gets completely robbed by ICBC. Then, when the time comes around for you to actually have to use your insurance from ICBC, it’s next-to-impossible to contact them at all, and they give you an abysmal compensation for lost wages and recovery fees. I know a person who couldn’t contact their adjuster for an entire year and had multiple months of lost income, plus physical therapy fees and a destroyed car (~$2000), and the best ICBC could muster up was $4000.
