they happily take your money but use starve tactics when its their turn to pay

They will intentionally withhold wage replacement dispite severe injuries and found not at fault, until you repetitively call and beg them. Then they will act like they don't know why it didn't go thru. Scammers.

I have had brain injury, Back/spine injury and a wrist injury. 0 payout, and the wage replacement is 400$ less then what I was making before injury, which is NEVER on time. Also, don't bother calling them. They won't answer. If you miss their call, wait until next week.

No care for people injured

I was injured by a driver that was texting and driving with her 2 kids in the car. I am unable to work my 3 jobs and ICBC claims that they don’t have to pay me any income benefit replacement. I have had 3 different claims specialist and they have all been rude, lying, horrible employees with no morals. Terrible greedy company that needs to be taken away.

ICBC roles out truth and reconciliation rhetoric

by Brenda Camfferman on Sep 29, 2023
1 out of 5 stars

I have dealt with ICBC for most of my life with various cars and have found that dealing with them is a necessary evil. However, being Indigenous, I was shocked to see this truth and reconciliation nonsense being rolled out paying lip service to the Indigenous community. I come from a household of 7 and we have both cars and bicycles. My two sons and one daughter-in-law use bicycles to get to work on a daily basis. One of my sons was hit by a car on his e-bike on his way home from work in May 2023; the accident was through no fault of his. He was going through an intersection and a car was in a hurry and turned directly into him, totaling his bike. Instead of treating him as a cyclist ICBC is treating him as a vehicle and asking him to jump through so many hoops that it is months later with still no action of settling this simple and straightforward claim.
The woman who hit my son takes full responsibility for the accident.
How about reconciling with one Indigenous person by doing what you are supposed to do instead of spending probably thousands and making so-called action plans of reconciliation? Based on your track record, you are way off course on reconciliation!

A joke

Regardless of whether I should bear 100% responsibility for this car accident or not, ICBC's treatment of me has been highly inappropriate. Their actions subjected me to a distressing experience, leading to both mental stress and additional physical pain.

Throughout my interaction with ICBC during the claims process, there were concerning instances of wrongful treatment and unfair practices by ICBC staff. Initially, they altered my information to place the blame entirely on me for the accident. When I discovered these discrepancies and requested corrections, they did make adjustments but continued to assert that the fault lay entirely with me. They even provided reasons to support their decision, which appeared biased.

I also have particular concerns regarding the communication and responsiveness of ICBC staff members. Their communication with me has been notably lacking in terms of timeliness and accuracy. One sent me a few emails to which I responded, but regrettably, there was no subsequent reply. Furthermore, he has not engaged in effective phone communication, resorting only to leaving voicemail messages, and he has not responded when I attempted to return his calls. Another instance is other rep, who emailed me a report detailing ICBC's work on my claim case. However, the information in her email appeared to be inaccurate, suggesting that ICBC's record-keeping processes may be less than precise.

No more treatment and about adjuster

by Mihee on Jul 31, 2023

It was such a serious accident that a pickup truck hit my car in multiple collisions with more than four cars and the car was abandoned. Fortunately, there was no bleeding trauma, but I and my son were severely shocked as they hit the back and sides of my car hard. After about a year or so, my ICBC adjuster said I needed a doctor's note to receive more treatment, so I had a hard time getting a doctor's note as a walk-in. However, in the meantime, as the Adjuster changed, she said you can't take treatment without Kinesiology, and the Doctor's Note I received became useless.
I asked her shouldn't you give me permission to be treated at least once since I've been given a doctor's note as your former Adjuster told me to? I complained that I met a doctor and made my time spent on Doctors' notes useless, but she still said no.
I wanted acupuncture and massage treatment but I was rejected over and over again. I've even met a doctor and I'm so angry that he's handling it like this. Who can trust ICBC if I let my time go away and by any measure, it's like a light accident? I still have pain all over my body, but I'm so upset that I said I would get rid of the compensation treatment and provide treatment until the end, but I made it too difficult to get treatment after a year. The adjuster didn't consider my situation at all, and when I got the call from her at first, I felt very unfriendly throughout the phone call and sarcastically as if I were someone who offered to be treated when I was not sick. That happened earlier this year and just a few days ago she finally told me that I was not getting any more treatment.
How can an accident happen to anyone, but after a year, no more treatment? How can I solve this problem? Somebody tell me

Accident Claim

by Bianca on Aug 23, 2022

An absolute nightmare for a company to deal with. I was t-boned back in October making a left-hand turn. I was initially given 100% fault, which was then reversed to 0% since the cab driver who hit me was driving in the bus lane. My original adjustor, Shandi, was rude to my Dad and me. She told me I should feel bad for the driver I hit, even though I did not hit anyone. Even if this accident was my fault, what kind of adjustor says that to their client? She also failed to investigate properly; if she had simply taken the time to look up the HOV signs, she would have realized the cab was not allowed to drive in that lane. I even sent her photos of the signs, making her job 10x easier. She told me the person making a left-hand turn is always at fault, which is false. The only helpful person I spoke to was Desiree, a manager who reversed my fault. ICBC is a black hole of emailing just not to get a response or waiting 2 hours on hold to speak to someone who tries cutting you short. Not to mention, I went 2 months without a courtesy car because they told me I was not eligible to drive one since I was not 21 years old. Therefore, I spent 2 months taking Uber, public transit, and getting rides with friends; all things ICBC is supposed to reimburse you for. Since my adjustor never told me I could be reimbursed for these expenses, I didn't keep any of my receipts and now am being told I cannot be compensated. I am still dealing with this accident 10 months later, with a new adjustor who is just as bad as Shandi. I don't see this being resolved for a very long time. If I could give 0 stars on this review, I would.

Legally Criminal

Was rear ended at a red light, person at fault claimed i reversed into them - icbc sided with the claimant and denied my claim. I provided telemetry and gps data numerous times proving my vehicle was stationary and they continued to come up with new excuses to deny me.

The real reason is because my vehicle insurance is a 3rd party and icbc wanted to avoid paying anything whatsoever and sue my insurance instead. Best part, there’s no legal recourse I can take. They closed the claim while I was still mid-battle on providing the ever expanding “proof” they kept tacking on.

They are the worst auto insurance company and unfortunately have the monopoly so we don’t get a choice.
