ICBC rates support budget

by Disgusted in Kelowna on Jul 25, 2019
1.5 out of 5 stars

The prices for automobile and motorcycle insurance in BC are at LEAST double Alberta (which has private auto insurance). An example is a Kawasaki motorcycle that cost $8000 (very fuel-efficient) costs $294 for 3 months for the most basic insurance you can purchase from ICBC. In Alberta, it would cost $120. It takes about 1 hour to renew a license at ICBC and at least 35 minutes to renew an insurance policy. Their computer system is redundant and not user-friendly so the amazing ICBC representatives are doing so much work for nothing but angry clients who have no say.

Garbage company and bad people

by Mark on Jul 23, 2019
1 out of 5 stars

They act nice talking to you, then when finally get into details they change into a money-hungry monster saying wrong accusations of what had happened even though a video was sent for them to see. Claim adjuster last words to me were talk to my manager because they can't make up enough stuff to say that I was wrong. After defending myself, the claim adjuster doesn't even email me back and just keep me in the cold. Horrible company.

Worst insurance company ever

by Kyliewystrach on Jul 21, 2019
1 out of 5 stars

One year my insurance is 251$ a month then it’s 785$ a month for one minor at-fault claim that there was no physical damage to either car, minor as they get. No one asked for photos of my car or anything. I’ve talked to at least 4 different brokers now and no one knows what is going on. ICBC are thieves and will do anything to screw you over. They are making it impossible for people to afford insurance in BC!

We need competitors

by Icbcsucks on Jul 13, 2019

Inefficient, ineffective, arrogant, rude, and that's just the employees. Don't get me started on the company. They want your thousands every year but treat you like a criminal when you make a claim even when it's not even your fault! Why don't we have more competitors?

low ball offer

by Karrma on Jul 11, 2019

It has been 2 weeks since my dad is without a vehicle and the estimator for ICBC came with a below-average (very low ball offer). After emailing him yesterday about what I am expecting for the vehicle, he still didn't respond.

Worst company ever

ICBC is the worst company ever I’ve seen. Poor customer service, no accurate procedure to identify fraud claims, and very expensive. Why we should have the ICBC monopoly in BC and no other insurance company is allowed to compete with them? That’s why they charge people whatever they want! They don’t have any competitor!

Monopolized scam

Every time I receive ICBC renewal notice I am reminded that this is one big monopolized scam in BC. The rates are so damn high and there are absolutely no options to go anywhere else.

We decided NOT to move to BC

by Try-to-move-there on May 11, 2019
1 out of 5 stars

We did our research about moving to BC and finally called the Insurance Company for a quote, the ICBC. They told us we have to use only the ICBC insurance if we want to settle in BC. They gave us a quote: few dollars shy $2000 after 28 years driving in Canada plus the home insurance at a different company. We have decided not to move BC. NO THANKS, we don’t need your services...

Worst without fairness!

by minbean on Apr 13, 2018

My 8-month new car got $9000+ repair damages at 100% fault to the other driver. ICBC is playing ugly tactics not to compensate market value depreciation and cost to trade for an accident-free car. Why should my property value deprived by an incident at 0% my fault? It's sad that such a large influential company is lacking sense of fairness. Monopoly gets things stink. I had exchanged many phone talks and mails with different representatives in ICBC. No one admitted the fact "A repaired and re-painted accident history of car has less value than an accident-free car." It's frustrating to talk with ICBC people who deny generally accepted facts or common senses. It ended up being waste of time. More pain on top of the original damages! I had to sue ICBC to bring it to the justice of law.

If you have a good driving record in AB, you should pay around $110/month (women - $105/month and men - $113/month). Do you overpay? Get an Alberta car insurance quote to start saving.

Water Considered Collision

by franknemes on Sep 6, 2017

Straight up story; backed my boat into the water with my QX60 SUV Hybrid and it stalled out wouldn't start again, the vehicle was by no means submerged and Infiniti doesn't want to stand up for their piece of crap, so started a claim but instead of saying it's under comprehensive they are calling it a collision with the water!!!!!! What a crooked company and it is government owned so I guess you know what that means, won't allow competition into BC cause they would go out of business and just charge ya to the poor house, a good old cash cow for them at our cost.
