Knowledgeable in nothing

Tried to register a private vehicle purchased at auction, brought paid receipt in, the staff at SGI Swift Current never even looked at the invoice as the teller asked 3 questions that were directly stated on the invoice (1 is it paid for? How did you pay? Where is it?) then promptly told me that they can't help me and to bring the original invoice ( which I had brought in). They didn't look at the invoice, told me it needed a signature of the owner (me or the bank that repossessed it? No clarification). They just had no intention of doing work, the phone/fax number of the auction company was clearly written on the invoice if they needed confirmation. What a joke this company is, the staff has no clue, the managers less and they couldn't train a dog to sit. If my tax money went to that Nigerian prince who keeps emailing instead of SGI pensions, it would probably get more for your dollar, with just as much satisfaction. Tell me again how my heart should bleed over your unpaid ten days off.

SGI'S 50/50 fault scam

by EstevanSGI on Oct 7, 2016
2 out of 5 stars

I was recently in Sept, 2016, struck by an elderly 80+ year old driver at Reginas Cornwall Center. Opposing driver failed to yield to a designated turning arrow into the mall parkade. Since both vehicles appeared to be driveable by the looks of things, the police refrained from attending the scene. Shortly after driving my vehicle, I realize that the entire steering system and allignment was ruined due to opposing driver who hit my rear back tire. In a nutshell, I took a picture of the scene which I submitted to SGI. In the words of SGI, since both our statements varied and there were no independent witnesses, full fault could not be determined. Even if my evidence was fairly compelling, it was not without a doubt (how could it be?). Despite SGI knowing that one party is fully innocent, they imposed fault both ways, meaning I will be held responsible 50% for the collision in which I fully complied with the traffic laws. My 14-year old driving record is in jeopordey due to SGI's deplorable fault policy.

This is a cash grabbing scheme by SGI, which is also a government body and a business at the same time. SGI runs the entire driving industry here, from licensing to insurance- they cannot be avoided. Being found 50% at fault because SGI was unable to determine fault without a doubt to either party, will cost me points and tarnish my record. It also means I will be forced to pay one month of car rental and half the deductible of $700.

Saskatchewan needs better choices then SGI which is tantamount to a government mafia which needs to be dismantled in the name of privatization. As a crown corporation, they try to sell the idea they profited 45 million last year yet they did this on the backs and wallets of Saskatchewan residents, such as myself.

All I can say is that if you can avoid SGI it will be in your strongest benefit to do so, if you can't, continue to advocate and lobby your political representation for change which would permit private insurers to do business in Saskatchewan, allowing Sask residents to freedom of choice in whom they chose to do insurance business with.

Rude, compassionless, and unprofessional employees! Worst customer service I have ever experienced! I would think they would help victims?! We need something different in Saskatchewan!

I was in accident jan2 1900 hours another truck(ryder) hit me from behind and damaged the trailer and load restrainsts. I took the load to alberta delivered as per dispatch instruction with a damage front anddriver side window broken hood, hood hinge, electrical not working broken mirrows and vibration in the steering after the accident, On jan 6 I took the truck and trailer back to Saskatoon and phoned SGI. and had 3 sep shops look at the truck. the western star dealer told me the truck was a write off. I went back Ontario with the truck through mi with broken window no horn or broken hood hinge. I waited 2 weeks in Ontario for SGI. to look at the tractor both SGI. and my employer RSB knew wher the tractor was after 2 weeks RSB was wanting me to get some repairs done so I could bring the truck out to Saskatoon for SGI to look at it. the truck sat in sask atoon for 2 days waiting SGI to look ast it my uncle was very sick so they gave a load back to on. as my father brother had died. I took a week off for that and told SGI were the truck was. SGI. then waited a second week to tell me to bring the truck out to regina so that they could look at . I told the the truck might not make it they told me to limb the truck out or tow it out at my expense.

Worst people do deal with ever!

I’ve had multiple encounters with SGI and three separate claims all of which I had a very bad experience, the first claim I received atrocious customer service and the claim took nearly 3 months to get resolved while I was without a vehicle and would not receive a rental, the second claim SGI refused to reimburse me for over $3,000 of recently done work on my now totaled vehicle, and the third was made by someone making a fraudulent claim that never occurred with my vehicle however SGI refuses to take into account any of my words and are charging me over $500 for an accident I was not even involved in. They refused to look at my undamaged vehicle and refused to give me any information about the accident or the other vehicle in the accident. Wanting to share my experience on another site, seeing as SGI makes no effort to improve their customer service.

Kind and courteous claims process.

This company knows their business. I felt they were there every step of the way to guide me through the claims process. I never felt my concerns were deemed insignificant. They were efficient and never left me wondering where I stood. They were willing to accomodate my desire to patronize a business other than one they were accustomed to dealing with. I felt valued as a customer.

Horrific experience. I was expecting objectivity and fairness, not the opposite.

Someone hit me rushing a light. They were not paying attention and they went into my lane and hit me. After the accident, they admitted fault due to these reasons. Through the claim process that the business started, SGI instead sided with them and gave me full fault despite what occurred at the accident. When I inquired what I could have done to prevent the accident, they kept providing different answers that contradicted my personal written statement. Once this was found out, they changed their answer again. In short, do not trust SGI to go based on your written statement. If the other individual or company apart of the collision is well connected, that will be considered by SGI and their written statement will then be weighed more heavily than yours regardless of what occurred. Get a dashcam for your front and back of vehicle.

If you have a good driving record in AB, you should pay around $110/month (women - $105/month and men - $113/month). Do you overpay? Get an Alberta car insurance quote to start saving.

Amazing experience

I have had to make two sgi claims in my life thus far and I was dreading it as I had heard bad things however, both of my experiences were great! (minus the fact I had to make a claim of course) but both time the customer service was exceptional they made it as easy as possibly for me and were very quick, I unfortunately forget the name of the woman I dealt with last year on my first claim but they just made an awful experience so manageable and gave me an unexpected positive experience with SGI. Thank you to the main people who helped me with my claims 😊
