Concerned with a significant increase to our premiums, we decided to shop around, and also gave the Personal a chance to tender more competitive pricing. Their answer: they had no further discounts to apply to our policy. Our answer: say goodbye to customers who have been with you for close to 30 years; customers who will enjoy saving close to $1,000 with their new provider!
If you don't want to waste your money, go to a different insurance company. They have poor customer service and worst service. You file a claim they will ignore and won't even bother to defend their own clients. If you're looking for a CHEAP and IRRESPONSIBLE INSURANCE, GO WITH WESTERN DIRECT/THE PERSONAL INSURANCE.
Did you know that on average Ontario drivers with good driving records pay $1,805/year in auto insurance? Is your insurance rate higher? Get a free car insurance quote and start saving today.
I was deemed at fault for someone's ice coming off their windshield and hitting mine, causing me to lose control and spin into another vehicle at highway speed. I could have died - and they wrote my vehicle off despite it having less than $5000 of damage. The cheque they gave me was for $13,000. It made absolutely no sense and left me upside down on my auto loan and they refused to give me a single option other than writing it off. I am so angry, I am switching insurance companies.
We have been waiting for the settlement for more than 2 weeks since we claimed the accident. I was hit by the other party from behind on the tire. Since it's not safe to drive the vehicle anymore, we have been asking the adjuster many times in two weeks and keep on being told to wait for the other insurance company confirmation. We are frustrated and don't want to be their customers anymore.
I think they hire complete idiots. Let's assign you a Claims adjuster that DOESN'T call you or even call you back after 5 attempts. Oh wait, let me WORK FOR YOU and not the other way around. What kind of insurance company makes their clients chase them around for assistance? Am I on some strange planet where customer service is non-existent? One more thing...oh let's have your car towed to a Speedy Auto Glass that doesn't actually do glass repair. I'm simply annoyed. I am switching. Don't bother with THE PERSONAL - unless you wanna deal with idiots and spend half your day chasing them around.
If you have a good driving record in AB, you should pay around $110/month (women - $105/month and men - $113/month). Do you overpay? Get an Alberta car insurance quote to start saving.
Worst experience ever with having a claim, my adjuster spent more time out of the office, never returned phone calls, didn’t follow up! And because of this I have a storage balance of over 5000, did the BBB and looking into a lawsuit! Asked for supervisor/ manager to call me back and nothing! But you bet they take my payments out each and every month! The Personal is a scam! And I have started to look for new insurance!
A co-worker passenger left a dent in my door. I got all of her information, took pictures myself, started a claim against the co-worker. I had a terrible time with my claim. I had to fight with The Personal to not accept the poor work of the co-worker's insurance company. I essentially became an employee of The Personal forcing them to do their work. I elevated the claim, and with another set of pictures and a second inspection of the co-worker's car, the other insurance company finally accepted fault. This experience left me stressed, upset, in tears, and fuming mad. My insurance rates have doubled as well. I am DONE and going elsewhere!
No first accident forgiveness, very impersonal when dealing with claims. They send a lot of automated and confusing emails. My deductible was $250.00, when I went to pay it, the actual charge was $562.00 and their customer service had no idea why and the customer service couldn't tell me how much my rate would go up by when my renewal came up since I had an accident.
I had a Ford F-350 dually truck insured that belonged to my late father and when I purchased a RAM 3500 dually with a box on the back to perform renovations on my new home I decided that switching my insurance to the new truck was the best idea as I really have not driven dads truck a handful of times since insuring it. FIRST they couldn’t “find” the VIN that I provided to them even though it was read directly from the previous owners insurance card and valid Alberta registration (the registry found it in seconds) and now they refuse to insure it as it is “too big” for me and want to pull claim history etc on me to prove that I can drive such a big truck (they still can’t “find“ the VIN) I am a grown man with a clean record and the truck that I pulled insurance from was BIGGER! These guys are ridiculous and truthfully my broker is not much help either, now they have left me high and dry with no insurance and I need this truck on the road. Tomorrow I will be searching for a new broker and insurance company and will take all of my business elsewhere, I will keep one of my 3 vehicles with them so they don’t charge me their extortion tax and come renewal time they can stick their policy where the sun doesn’t shine. Keep up the “good work” and congratulations on having a 1.8 review hopefully with enough real reviews from actual customers it will go down further to offset the 5 stars that I am sure are FAKE
I was in a no-fault accident in June 2018. During the claims process, I dealt with a very efficient agent at The Personal, who was accessible by text as well as by email and phone. It was initially hard to reach the company via their toll-free line at the time of the accident, admittedly, but in the end, it did no harm. I felt that the claims process went fairly smoothly. They sent my vehicle to be assessed at a local body shop (in Etobicoke) that they trusted, and that body shop was also easy to deal with. They covered my rental vehicle, not for terribly long but without issue, at least. My own vehicle was determined to be a write-off. The value assessed for my vehicle wasn't unreasonable. I received payment in our bank account once I completed my end of things - the agent gave me clear instructions on what I needed to do. This is my recent take on their claims process. Can't comment on the cost of the policy, except to say that it may not be the cheapest.
