Going Elsewhere!

by Not pleased on Sep 21, 2015
1 out of 5 stars

I recently switched banks and gave notice of this to Gore a little late so I expected to be charged and NSF. Fine. Then they tried to take the insurance money out of the old account again (8 days later). I got hit with more NSF fees because of their error. To top it off, they charged me NSF fees on top of my policy! After corresponding with 3 different representatives from the insurance company, not one of them admitted to their fault. First they blamed me for not giving a weeks notice (which I did when the second attempt to remove funds was made) then the second representative blamed the bank after acknowledging that they DID receive my new account information in time. It truly shows they do not care about their clients, nor do they take the time to understand what I was trying to explain to them. Safe to say we are cancelling our insurance and going with a new company. Terrible insurance company!

Terrible Consumer Position

I was involved in an motor vehicle accident with a Gore Mutual Ins. Company insured and I called them to file a report. They asked if I was the insured?, I said No but I wanted to report the accident. They said they wouldn’t take the information?, and that the insured must call them? I said what if the insured doesn’t call? The reply was I have to notify my insurance company which would require me to pay a deductible expense? I restated that the fault was assigned to their insured by the investigating officer and Gore Mutual Insurance Co. was the responsible party for paying the claim! They said that Company policy was that they will not take my report or claim!

I’m so glad that I don’t have them as my Insurance company, they sure have a user and business friendly response team that I wouldn’t want representing me!!!

Scumbags Ripped Off My Gramma!

by Canadaguy on Dec 22, 2014
1 out of 5 stars

My gramma added me (a 30 year old man with clean record) to her Insurance policy as a second driver. She was told by the broker that her rate would not increase. When she received the bill a month later, it had increased to over $250 per month from $104. She inquired about the increase and was told I (with no claims or tickets) am a high risked driver and must pay high risk rates. I was unable to get in touch with the broker during regular business hours. I called the company I was previously covered with and got a quote. What a surprise!! $138 a month for the exact same car and none of this "high risk" malarky! My gramma promptly called to cancel her plan. Well all of a sudden they were able to pull some strings and come up with a new rate... $138 a month! Obviously we severed ties with these people. My Gramma is in her 80's and very innocent. I would compare Gore insurance to the kind of people that steal the poppy donation box. If you have an elderly family member insured with this company, please make sure they are not being taken advantage of.

Did you know that on average Ontario drivers with good driving records pay $1,805/year in auto insurance? Is your insurance rate higher? Get a free car insurance quote and start saving today.

Worst Experience Ever !
Because of this company, They are still costing me money even though I no longer insure with them.
When I purchased another vehicle I decided to Stay with Gore, having insured my previous vehicle with them for so long it seemed convenient.
BIG MISTAKE
My vehicle was hit with hail and after it was appraised the damage was close to 14 grand - the insurance decided they wanted their own appraiser to look at it, which they then decided it was only 12 grand to repair. My vehile is a base bmw 128i with no sunroof and 100,000kms - They also appraised my vehicle which they deemed worth $21,000 therefor it would be repaired and not written off -my car was barely worth 10 grand ! I know this beccause 1. I have been working in the auto industry all my life and 2. auto trader confirmed there were others like mine a lot less than 21 grand. I went back and asked them to re-appraise because the "appraiser" submitted his "proof" which was the same model but with 50,000kms less than mine - that is a big difference when were talking german vehicles ! The Strangest thing of this so called appraisal was that it was complete bull as I bought my vehicle for 21 grand over 2 years ago ! I must have the only non-depriciating vehicle in the world !
Garbage company - THANK GOD - my insurance was up around the same time that all happened- Took their chq and had the vehicle repaired and canceled my insurance !
BUYER BEWARE ! ! ! ! ! !

Worst experience ever!

After paying premiums for several years for multiple vehicles and house insurance, I had the misfortune to be involved in a "not at fault" accident. From the first time Nathan in claims contacted me he was rude and abrupt. Their appraiser valued my older model car at 3,500. the body repairs were going to be 3,600, so they wrote the vehicle off. I was notified on a Tuesday, then told they would only cover the rental car I was using until Thursday. I disagreed with the appraised value so was told I could submit repair bills to possibly increase the value. I asked my mechanics to do so and they complied. One of the bills was for replacing the motor previously. I and my mechanics looked up values for my car online. The values ranged from 4,245. to 6,900. depending on whether it was average price, wholesale or retail. I was then informed that even though my vehicle was sitting at a body shop, because I did not immediately accept their offer, I was still being charged insurance on it. Next, Nathan told me that I was also going to be charged a "storage fee". This was 1 1/2 weeks after the accident occurred. In my opinion, strong arm tactics to get me to accept their low offer. Tonight, Nathan called me and said the three invoices sent from my mechanics did not affect the value of the car, nor did the mechanics print out of the value of the car because it wasn't "Mitchell's" or "Black book". He then went on to say that they couldn't even be sure the invoices sent were authentic because they were hand written, and next told me my mechanics were overcharging me for work they did. Finally, he out right lied and claimed that he had told me I could hire my own appraiser when we first spoke. I guarantee he said no such thing. Overall disgusting treatment from a company that has taken thousands of dollars in premiums from me. I did look up the Canadian Black Book value after I told him very clearly what I thought of both him and the company. That is the 4,245 value. This company has not one ounce of caring or compassion for their clients. Their only interest is to take as much money from you as possible. I tried to rate them as 0, but it doesn't allow that.

They have me a quote for $115 and were supposed to take it on monthly basis but instead they charged me $195 and took 6 months in one shot...I was shocked when I saw my statement. The didn't even bother notifying about any of this! Brutal....

Horrible Service, Moving On

After 15 years of paying Gore Mutual over $70,000, I got a very low appraisal for my car that was written off after I was rear ended ($14,900 which should have been over $17,000).

I was initially given 3 days on a rental vehicle to find a new one and had numerous expenses after my accident which was not my fault.

If you want an Insurance company that will help you in the event that you have an accident, Keep Looking, very BAD service.

Insurances Rates 2023

by Kara on Nov 4, 2023
1 out of 5 stars

I’m appalled that my car insurance has risen from 164 a month to 234 a month as a 34 year old female with 0 convictions. It has risen 38% percent. What a complete scam and greed. Shame on you Gore Mutual. You have lost a customer.

Stay far away from this company.

After 35 years of never filing a claim, I filed for a small dent in my door. After a long lecture from the agent about what wasn't available to me in my policy I went ahead with a claim. After two weeks I heard nothing so took my own photos and submitted them. Again I heard nothing and went to the repair service who again took photos. He submitted them to the company and after another two weeks of emails and phone calls that were never returned, I decided to cancel the claim. This company is a scam. I was completely ignored as a customer but they were happy to take my money, raise the rate and give me nothing for a covid rebate. You get what you pay for. With Gore Mutual, a lower rate equals ZERO services.

If you have a good driving record in AB, you should pay around $110/month (women - $105/month and men - $113/month). Do you overpay? Get an Alberta car insurance quote to start saving.

The Worst Company Ever!

by remi on Sep 20, 2019
1 out of 5 stars

They’re absolutely terrible. The worst company I have ever witnessed. Ok, so where to start... I’m 20 years old and I’m from Jersey (natural-born American citizen) and I recently moved to Ontario to be with my fiance (natural-born Canadian citizen). I needed to get my car registered ASAP so I wound up looking for the cheapest auto insurance I could, seeing as my fiancé and I already had a lot to pay for and things were/are tight. I go through a broker who shows me a list of quotes, with Gore being the cheapest at $185. I went with it, sent the broker all my info (including all of my New Jersey information) and my application was processed and approved. There was never an issue until the weeks/months following. My broker gives me temporary slips over email so I can get my car registered and drive legally while I wait for my official documents. (Keep in mind that yes, I do have an Ontario driver’s license). And boy do I wait. And wait. And wait. The temporary slips are good for a month, in which I should receive my documents in the mail within that time. But I never did. I emailed the broker who told me she didn’t know what was going on and would email me a new set of temporary slips while I waited (again). The next month goes by and my broker tells me that my rate went up and neither she nor I was ever informed! It was around the end of August of 2019. My fiancé and I then come to find out that the rate went up from $185 a month to $309! It’s completely unaffordable for us. All because they “didn’t want to honour my Jersey license”. They knew about it. They processed and approved my application with my Jersey license and my Ontario license and yet, somehow it was an issue? So, within the two months of waiting, this is what I get dropped on me. My partner and I called Gore themselves a few times, but each time, they shot us down saying that we couldn’t talk to them and that we have to talk to our broker. But our broker was lost as well, seeing as she had no idea what was going on either. So... no communication from Gore to neither me nor the broker. Needless to say, we cancelled on the spot. We were told that there would be no cancellation fee and that we were cancelled a pro-rata rather than a short rate. They were playing at being compassionate. I would’ve accepted had I not seen a tiny little detail. They were trying to charge us $139 for God knows what and attempted to make us pay the first month of September (this month) on August 28th. We cancelled our policy on the 23rd of August. So, they tried to take an early payment for a cancelled policy and to make it worse, it was at a rate that was not agreed upon initially. So now, they want us to pay $448, yet in reality, I should be only paying for the two months that I was insured. So around $370 or their pro-rata amount $309. Not the extra $139 I’d never seen or heard about. And besides... if my insurance was fully legal and official, why wasn’t I making any payments during July and August? Did they expect me to pay the $185/309 along with the two months all in one pop in September? Then I would’ve paid close to $700 which is nowhere near affordable! TL;DR Went with Gore because they were affordable initially. Because of scarce communication and constantly being screwed over(raised rate without notice, no emails or calls, and not giving me any official documentation), I cancelled. Now they want money they aren’t owed and are trying to scam me. This company is borderline fraudulent. STAY AWAY!
