If you are getting this card any month other than November, don't. If you cancel your card you will lose your cashback amount earned. I got the card in May and wanted to cancel before the annual renewal fee ($120/year). They said the only way for me to get my reward dollars is to pay the annual fee and wait until November when the payment comes. In my case, I have to pay $120 just to get my $300 in rewards. It doesn't matter if you have a bank account with them or another Visa.
I also found that the annual fee was quite high for the amount of rewards I earned.
When I signed up for this visa card I was told that I will receive an extra 10% cashback on all purchases within the first 3 months up to $2,000. I even called the bank to confirm that regardless of the amount I spend within the first 3 months I will still receive the 10% cashback and anything that goes over the $2,000 amount the promo will not apply. After 8 months I had yet to see my 10% cashback. I called multiple times and received a different message every time, but was always told that it will show up on my statement soon. The last lady I spoke to told me I would see it on my Feb 19th statement. I did not. When I called back again today, I ended up finding out that I did not qualify for the 10% extra cashback because you need to spend a MINIMUM of $2,000 in the first 3 months to qualify NOT up to $2,000!!!!! The wording is so sneaky, I am so frustrated and angry with this service and all the mixed messages I have received from them. DO NOT RECOMMEND.

I have set up quite a few of my recurring bills with this card thinking I would receive 4% off. However, upon reviewing my end-of-year cashback balance I noticed that they conveniently left off $720 in rewards. I have been calling from November to January trying to connect with someone to fix this "error". However, after being on hold well over 2 hours and being transferred 5 times and then ultimately hung upon. I am about to cancel this card and leave Scotiabank altogether. STAY AWAY!!!
It appears this company will use deceptive marketing to trick customers to sign up for their products. I received a pre-approved offer for this card with a prominent 10% cashback for the first $2,000 spent. I called to follow up and the responses I received changed from one person to the next. They are: (1) you will get it in November, (2) the promotion is paid partially 25% within 6 months and in full within 1 year, (3) there is no such promotion and (4) you will get it within 7 months. Four different responses after 4 calls. At this point, I am not confident that I will see any of the 10% promotion reward and feel strongly that the 10% cashback is a scam... I will cancel the Scotiabank VISA.
I signed up. Then the changed the rewards from 4% to 2%. When I cancelled the card they reneged on the $300+ cashback. Never again and Scotia Bank products.

I had a very bad experience when I tried cancelling this Momentum Visa Infinite card with Scotiabank, when I was told that I need to keep the card active until November 30, 2017, before I can get the cashback back. I was offered a No Fee Momentum Visa card; however, my existing cashback dividends was automatically reduced by 75% when the card got downgraded. I did mention that I don’t want to keep the credit card but it appears that I have no choice but to downgrade. I wanted to dispute the way the Bank’s system has re-calculated then waited more than a year and no one followed up to refund me the greatly decreased cashback. Not until I received in the mail a letter notifying me of the $10 charge being posted due to an inactive account. This is like a year and a half after I was forced to downgrade the visa card, when no one followed up back then to refund me the cashback after that year’s November 30, 2017. Upon calling customer service line at the Bank recently, I was told that they could only reverse the $10 charge, but nothing they could do to reinstate the original cashback dividends which were earned during the duration of the Momentum Visa Infinite Card. That representative even hung up on me before she was able to come to a resolution. Upon receipt of the current visa card statement showing the credit balance last week, being January 2019, I tried logging on to check and see what I could do but I was locked out of the account. Being unable to go anywhere, I called customer service again trying to see what’s going on with my account. I spoke with a man at customer service for almost an hour. He responded with lots of patience, but his hands are tied and his manager could only refund me the greatly reduced amount of cashback and close the account. I tried asking for a refund cheque but have no choice but to accept the small refund of 25% of the original amount. It is sad when what I have expected did not turn out to be what it should be. If you are looking for a cashback credit card, stay away from this one, unless you keep paying annual fee forever, and look somewhere else for one which will not scam you.
It was very easy to get the card, the card offers great features and cashback. However, I got an equivalent card from another bank with no annual fee. I called in to cancel this card and told again and again how at this time "it just doesn't make sense to cancel it". When I called in after my annual fee was deducted, the representative confirmed that I would get a refund for the annual fee and I should wait till my cashback is released in November. When I called back, I was informed there was no prorated refund and as it is over 90 days, I will not get any refund. Now that I've paid for the whole year, I might as well keep it, insisted the representative. I understand they will make an effort to ensure people don't cancel their cards, but they are not being genuine and will use shady methods to insist you on keeping the card. I am gladly done with this bank!
Don't how they define "subscription" and "recurring payment". At least they didn't see my Amazon Prime membership and Apple subscription as "recurring payments". Which were all working fine as recurring payments with my another Mastercard. I switched to this card because of the 4% cashback they claim, turned out, that it's not like that at all!
Haven't used it in grocery stores yet. Some reviews commented that they are narrow on "grocery stores". OMG. What can I expect?
And they give you the cashback after a year (every year in November) not like other cashback cards that let you redeem on their apps whenever you want.
