Fraudulent Transaction Resolution

by Shaw on Dec 31, 2023
1 out of 5 stars

My wife's card had a few fraudulent transactions and she raised the issue immediately, after the card was canceled my wife called several times for the resolution and their response was very different each time. The first time they told it would take 45 days to resolve then they said afterward, it would take 3 months. Besides the customer service was very rude, I wonder how they recruit their customer service agents most are an arrogant and worthless bunch of people. If you ask something they will give you a scripted answer and no decency to speak politely with clients as if we are to blame for any issues and trying to judge. I had faced similar issues with a card from a proper bank and within 15 days they resolved the issue and have been very supportive never trying to imply anything or judge us. I would suggest you would be better off without this card and save a lot of headaches if you face any issues.

Hello Customer Service, learn a bit of arithmetics because it wouldn't hurt...

Called Customer Service 4 times because my card was stolen and I was very worried about any potential fraud. Besides the fact, that some agents were out of the line, during the last call the lady checked my ID with the usual questions, DOB, my age, address, and account transactions (even if I don't have the statements and she knew it). At the end of the call, she confessed she couldn't check my ID because I didn't know my age. So my DOB was right but she wasn't able to subtract correctly TODAY date-DOB and come up with the same answer as I told her. Hello Canadian Tire Bank, hire some qualified people in charge of your clients' finances.

Avoid this card/company

by JSp on Nov 25, 2021

When I went to pay for groceries today I found out my card was on hold... why? Because I made a payment! The associates on the phone (they don't have a chat function- another reason to avoid this stone-age company) told me that Canadian Tire Bank randomly places holds on accounts as a security feature. I am not sure how this gives better security, especially when the hold was placed after making a $900 payment. They told me the hold will last 10-14 business days, and they will not remove the hold. I asked how this was communicated to me (email, notification, the legal paperwork) and they said that this information is not communicated to customers, this is just their practice. Please understand that I am the type of customer who always pays her full balance each month- so perhaps I am being punished because they are not getting a bunch of interest payments from me. Please avoid this shady company unless you enjoy having random holds placed on your account every 6-8 weeks.

BEWARE OF THE HARASSMENT

by Thomas C on Apr 10, 2021

I applied for a card around the first week of November 2020 and was approved for $500 instant credit on a triangle card. I used the card and made a fairly high payment way before the due date, for no default reason Canadian Tire suspended the card. Then continuous have called up to 5 - 6 times a day looking for payments. It's harassment and they refuse to stop even after being told to by a lawyer. The law says no more than 3 calls a week yet they do as they please. I'm filing a breach of contract suit against them for cancellation while the card was in good standing. They also put negative things against my credit without taking into consideration COVID. They also lied saying I requested the account closed and the number of my payments to the credit bureau. Will not tolerate the harassment anymore and will be contacting the government to file a complaint against them as well.
