What a bunch of scammers. I have had this card for 3 months and have been paying off the balance each month. The last payment of 300$ I just found out is being held for two weeks for no reason whatsoever, now I found out I overpaid by 2 dollars and I could spend that in the meantime customer service is rude... When I was transferred to a manager I was lectured about how to make payments...
Had an issue receiving my card. Made numerous calls and was misinformed every time. The new agent would just say that “they shouldn’t have told you that” or “sorry we can’t honor that”, even while all this is documented in the notes, even promises made. They claimed they will review those calls, however, no concessions or accommodations were made. The supervisors took condescending and belittling tones throughout the interaction, passing on blame and not once admitting any responsibility. Overall... the worst customer service experience ever!

I applied for a card around the first week of November 2020 and was approved for $500 instant credit on a triangle card. I used the card and made a fairly high payment way before the due date, for no default reason Canadian Tire suspended the card. Then continuous have called up to 5 - 6 times a day looking for payments. It's harassment and they refuse to stop even after being told to by a lawyer. The law says no more than 3 calls a week yet they do as they please. I'm filing a breach of contract suit against them for cancellation while the card was in good standing. They also put negative things against my credit without taking into consideration COVID. They also lied saying I requested the account closed and the number of my payments to the credit bureau. Will not tolerate the harassment anymore and will be contacting the government to file a complaint against them as well.
My older Dad who does not speak a lot of English was tricked into signing up for this credit card in the store. Given his limited language understanding, he thought that he is signing up for a simple rewards card and not for a credit card. He already has a credit card with RBC and does not want another one to manage. I don't like these sales tricks of selling stuff to people who do not understand what they are getting. I have cancelled the card for him.
When I went to pay for groceries today I found out my card was on hold... why? Because I made a payment! The associates on the phone (they don't have a chat function- another reason to avoid this stone-age company) told me that Canadian Tire Bank randomly places holds on accounts as a security feature. I am not sure how this gives better security, especially when the hold was placed after making a $900 payment. They told me the hold will last 10-14 business days, and they will not remove the hold. I asked how this was communicated to me (email, notification, the legal paperwork) and they said that this information is not communicated to customers, this is just their practice. Please understand that I am the type of customer who always pays her full balance each month- so perhaps I am being punished because they are not getting a bunch of interest payments from me. Please avoid this shady company unless you enjoy having random holds placed on your account every 6-8 weeks.
