Will increase your rates without notice

Raised the rate on my second mortgage by 2% within 9 months despite my broker advising the rate was fixed. Poor customer service and agents will absolutely hang up on you if you ask for copies of your signed documents. Would not use unless you were desperate, and even then I wouldn't recommend. This should be a zero star review.

I have credit cards with other bank & don’t receive this kind of service, so several times I have used this HTP Visa & the service is excellent!!!
I use this card a lot when I’m travelling due to no fees!

Abnormal and unethical business practices

We got this card for use outside Canada, because they charge no more than Visa's fee for currency conversion. We are in the top 2% to 3% for both income and assets, we have no debt, and we have never caused a hint of trouble when decades ago we did, yet they refused to give us a limit higher than $4000. For travelling this is often inadequate, but we could prepay some of our charges. Now, however, they are ignoring our prepayment when calculating our credit limit. They no longer tell us that we may not exceed $4000 of charges at any time, they tell us that we may not exceed $4000 throughout any month, even if the prepayment means we actually owe nothing.

This change contravenes standard commercial practice and was either unannounced or announced so obscurely that a normally assiduous customer would not see it. None of this is ethical business practice. Beware!

Application Denied

My husband and I just applied for a Home Trust Preferred Credit Card that we would like to use on vacation in the States. Our application was refused and when I phoned their helpline, they couldn't help me or provide another number to call. We own our own house and vehicles, have a household income ten times the required limit for this card, and have no debt. I have heard that this was a great card but I guess it's not for us!

They call customers liers

Well if you run it to tuff times like covid 19 or a slow down at work and start making half-payments good luck with you... The first thing is they lock the online account so you can check the account balance to pay them... and then you call them over and over and they say you are still locked out because you are still over .. and of course...
I went to paperless billing in April. They sent me an email on my balance which went... your right!!! It was locked out over and over this went on and on got sick of it really... and know this is a collection issue? Of over 10 years of prompted (my )service? Got my cell phone cut off so I could not call them that's how bad this lockdown has been but now I am up and running it was down only for 2 weeks.
