We were told that travel insurance was $15 per ticket but were charged $90 per ticket. After finding this out we called them and asked for a refund, they then said they would send our information to flighthub to get us our refund. They lied and never sent our information over. So not only did they lie to us about our insurance pricing, they lied to us about sending our information over to flighthub. In total they have wasted several hours of our time trying to get our insurance refund.
Had our school trip cancelled due to Covid, and submitted the letter of cancellation from the school board 6 months ago. I am now a university student and am currently missing $5k for a trip that I never got to go on. This is upsetting as there has been no feedback from Manulife until a week ago when the teacher in charge of our trip emailed their complaint liaison. They have withheld our money for 6 months. At least get back to us on where it stands.
Manulife insured a school trip well before COVID-19. The trip was cancelled just before departure. A claim was submitted with the exact required paperwork. The families were told it will take time to process. 6 months have passed. Parents getting extremely frustrated. Repeatedly Manulife said it was only delayed due to claim. They even told us the settlement would be in early September. Now they say they are waiting on additional request paperwork. This is the first anyone had heard of this. They are stalling. Some parents are going to the major media. Others are prepping to sue. The school districts should refrain from using Manulife moving forward.
My daughter purchased travel insurance from Manulife and now because all travel globally has been cancelled, they have denied her claim! 1. Purchased a trip south early this year prior to any knowledge of Covid-19 was in the media. Was pushed to purchase the "Premium" Travel insurance by the tour operator... more expensive. 2. COVID-19 hit and Canada along with every other country globally shut down borders. 3. Her airline along with every other airline cancelled all flights. 4. Submitted a claim to Manulife and waited months without any feedback. Months later go a basic email say claim denied! 5. She took it up with the dispute and they said she didn't submit all the data needed for the claim. She submitted EXACTLY everything they asked for. Then they told her she needs a trip cancellation invoice from the tour operator (that was not asked for prior). 6. Submitted again and still waiting a month later. So the end result, don't get any travel insurance through Manulife!!!
Don't see any reason to take Manulife travel insurance because do not cover almost any staff. Unaccompanied baggage; unattended personal property; any personal property left in an unattended vehicle or unlocked trunk; any jewellery or camera placed in the custody of a common carrier; any personal electronic device such as a mobile phone, laptop, tablet or iPod.
As mentioned by a previous post, it seems rather unlikely that everyone posting negative reviews here is a saint and Manulife the devil incarnate. My wife and I recently had to make a claim while out of Canada and were extremely pleased with the service and response that we received from Manulife. The representative was quick to act and put our mind at ease regarding the necessary treatment my wife needed. Filing the claim upon return was rather straightforward and so long as you’re candid and forthcoming from the beginning I don’t believe that they would turn down a legitimate claim. They kindly took the time to help us file all the appropriate documentation and the next time I heard from them was by mail with a cheque enclosed. I might add that we disclosed my wife’s prior cancer and all related treatments right from the start and truthfully had reservations doing so as we weren’t even certain they would approve our coverage let alone payout on a claim... Lo and behold, we were approved for their policy and were in fact reimbursed for every penny of our claim. Manulife and their products have, without a doubt, earned our trust and loyalty!
Do not get travel insurance with Manulife! We were going on a trip to Mexico. My father in law died before we left so we cancelled our trip. We had insurance with Manulife and they won't give our money back. My father in law died very quickly. When we paid for the insurance they said that we could cancel anytime and for any reason. What is the point of getting insurance cancellation if you can't use it? They told me that is because my father in law had an existing illness which is stated in their policy brochure, the one you get after you have paid. The brochure that no one reads.
I needed insurance coverage for out of country.
I already called 4 times and asked where is my coverage, I was promised would be send to me by email the day I called, 24 hours passed nothing, 48 hours passed nothing.
I called them today again and was told that a person is working (3 full days) on my out of country coverage and I should get it tomorrow.
I'm thinking how many more excuses, I will hear tomorrow.
I had a claim 2 months ago, and the company didn't do it, a month later I called them and they told me it just took 14 days, again after a month I called them and they said they were looking for my effective date during this whole month!
I confirmed the date and again they told me it takes 14 days!
What you were doing in these 2 months? Just verifying the effective date?
While it just takes 2 minutes not 2 months!
