The worst insurance company

by The worst company on Sep 30, 2017
1 out of 5 stars

About a year ago someone that was insured by SGI hit my brand new car! It was approx $6800 damage, my insurance company paid for the repairs and also paid for my rental for 8 weeks. My rental was up and that’s when my rental company contacted SGI to see if they would pay for a 7-day rental for me, not a problem they sent all the paperwork approving that they were going to pay it! The company still has not paid for it, now the rental company is coming after me to pay for it! This happens to be the worst insurance company to deal with! When you send paperwork approving to pay for something do it! This is not fair to me or my credit now because I can’t afford to pay their insurance claims!

RE SGI is evil,
My advice to you is get on your computer and start finding comparable sales for your vehicle. I would also tell SGI you want to save your vehicle and you are not accepting their lame offer to write off your vehicle. (Oh sure you can buy it back and go thru inspections to re insure your vehicle but keep in mind this action could be a potential nightmare). Inform SGI you want to go to arbitration then hire an arbitrator! You will have to fill out a form in regards to what you think your vehicle is worth, your arbitrator should help you with this. Google vehicle appraisers or look in the yellow pages under auto appraisers/arbitrators. I went down this road last fall it was the best $250.00 I have ever spent. After winning my case my SGI adjuster calls me and acts like my best friend telling me how great it is that my vehicle is being fixed etc. Please! Hire an arbitrator!

SGI is evil

Two years ago someone hit me from behind when I was stopping at a red light and SGI said it was my fault as my story and the other drivers story didn't match. They told me to take the guy to a small cliam court. They took points of my license and made me pay for each point as well as my deductable.
To mak my life more misreable, last week someone hit my car when it was parked on the street and the driver ran away. It probably happened overnight as there are no witnesses. I took my car for assessment and the assessor started accussing me that this is not a hit a run. He is claiming that I hit my car with concrete. The assessor also was trying to make me change my statement threatening that if the truth doesn't come out SGI won't cover my claim. I told him why would I lie, I am paying for extended insurance and my deductables is only $100 and he started making face and he embaressed me infront of other people at the claim centre. I am not sure what to do, my car is supposed to be written off and now I will lose $16,000.00. Why are they so evil? The assessor was son of a Satan. What is he lying on his report?

I was in accident jan2 1900 hours another truck(ryder) hit me from behind and damaged the trailer and load restrainsts. I took the load to alberta delivered as per dispatch instruction with a damage front anddriver side window broken hood, hood hinge, electrical not working broken mirrows and vibration in the steering after the accident, On jan 6 I took the truck and trailer back to Saskatoon and phoned SGI. and had 3 sep shops look at the truck. the western star dealer told me the truck was a write off. I went back Ontario with the truck through mi with broken window no horn or broken hood hinge. I waited 2 weeks in Ontario for SGI. to look at the tractor both SGI. and my employer RSB knew wher the tractor was after 2 weeks RSB was wanting me to get some repairs done so I could bring the truck out to Saskatoon for SGI to look at it. the truck sat in sask atoon for 2 days waiting SGI to look ast it my uncle was very sick so they gave a load back to on. as my father brother had died. I took a week off for that and told SGI were the truck was. SGI. then waited a second week to tell me to bring the truck out to regina so that they could look at . I told the the truck might not make it they told me to limb the truck out or tow it out at my expense.

Worst Insurance Experience!!

I have lived in Alberta and in the United States and this is by far the worst insurance experience I've had. As it is a government owned insurance company and the only option available, you are forced to be insured by them while they do whatever they can to get themselves the most money. My parked vehicle was hit in a parking lot resulting in a dent on my rear passenger quarter panel. The man responsible called SGI to report the accident but it was deemed a "no-fault" collission. My car was still driveable (no structural damage) but the damage was extremely overvalued and my car was deemed a "total loss". I bought it back as advised by an autobody shop because the repairs wouldn't cost nearly what SGI claimed they would. SGI would not cover the cost of a rental vehicle while my car was in the shop even though the website says "The cost of a rental vehicle is covered if: You're not at fault for the collision and you require a replacement vehicle, providing the at-fault driver's insurance coverage is in order"
This clause does not apply to all vehicles or cases!!
In general, they do whatever they can to keep as much money for themselves even if you are not at fault, are slow at returning calls, and provide vauge information on your claim and their services unless you know specifically what to ask for. I was very disappointed with this whole experience and upset that this is the only option available to people living in Saskatchewan.
