Do NOT go with this company, they will drag out a claim for as long as they want. I believe that the longer they drag out a claim, people will just give up or settle. This company is horrible and do not care about the people that they insure.!!!!Go with another company......... I speak from expiernce
Portage Mutual in St. Albert is an incredibly disrespectful, inconsiderate and unprofessional company. The claims adjuster from Canadian Claims starts out as your best friend, by the end of the claim was screaming at us on the phone and then hanging up on us. FYI, we were told that when your vehicle gets stolen, and is recovered, that the responsibility is on the owner to ensure that it gets fixed properly, and in a timely manner. So why exactly did we need that adjuster who outright lied to cover her own mistakes, yelled, and hung up on us? We were told "It's common sense that you would look after your own vehicle after a theft". Common sense says RUN AWAY from Portage Mutual, and if you get assigned Canadian Claims, plead for a new adjuster!
Recently I made a change, for years I had been planning on moving all the insurance needs under one broker, which is good for a whole host of reasons, one of which is discounts. At the end of October, it was time to retire our Dodge Charger, and we opted for a brand new Nissan Murano.. Very happy with it by the way, Highly recommended. So life is great with new wheels, but as with all material things in our life sometimes accidents happen. A nice gentlemen accidentally hit our unoccupied parked car. We swapped info and called our respected insurers. Now is the part that I would have thought would have been painless, however I was quite surprised to find out that my insurer was actually not interested in a complete repair on my two month old vehicle. At least not what I would consider a complete repair, not on a two month old car. So after two weeks of chasing adjusters trying to get them to pony up for a new fender instead of just patching the original one I am stuck with forking over the funds myself to get this repaired properly, oh to be fair they are covering some of the damages. I think at the end I hope I'll face a bill under a $1000 beside I only have to buy a new fender and get extra blending for the hood, but with this serious break in trust and confidence I find myself with serious buyers regret with this insurer. I am just thankful that it wasn't a more serious accident, If you can't trust em with the small stuff how can you be sure that when the chips are down these guys would be there for you?
