I have had my Canadian Tire Mastercards (2) for over ten years and I have never had a problem reaching customer service and arranging payments, being a small business owner if I have been caught without a payment. The agents have always been civil and take care of things immediately.
Recently our amount due has hiked up considerably. In order to avoid interest charges we always pay what is owed. In the last two months, the amount due is over $2,000. Many of our purchases have been on no interest equal installment payments, yet the monies they say we owe are far over the amounts financed this way. I get the feeling we are being punished for being long-term customers. It has been unreasonable and onerous to have to pay this much each month. We do not even owe that much. Is this company in trouble financially? Are they doing some creative accounting on their customers' backs? It is so totally weird. IE: we bought a fireplace for about $1800. We returned it five days later without even picking it up as we decided that spending that money was not in our best interests. It was put on the no-interest/interest-free installment payments. Even though we returned this item we still owe on the payment schedule for this purchase that was not even picked up, and it was added to the total amount owing last month!!! Again we ask is there some creative accounting being done? Are long-term customers being punished, or is it because we are getting to retirement age? Is this ageism discrimination?

I have been a long-time customer. I used their credit card for more than 5 years. I spent most of my income with my credit card. I never ever had a late payment or an interest charge. They offered me a balance transfer promotion. It was 0% interest rate with 1,5% fee. I used it for 4000$ and they charge me a 60$ fee which is normal. Next month I saw an 85$ interest charge in my bill. When I asked them, they told me that I needed to pay it off. I told them that I still have 3 months to pay. They said, no it doesn't work like that. I had to pay my balance off. I got ripped off by this credit card. I cancelled my credit card right away and moved my business somewhere else. I suggest you work with a bank which is more trustworthy.
I just received this card & wanted to pay what I spent $300 before the due date so that I could use the card without issues while I travelled. The first time paying I went to their website and chose the option to pay online as it said the payment would be posted 2-3 business days later. I paid on Dec 8th the transaction was completed the knee was taken from my bank account two business days later, we’re now at Dec 27th & the payment still hasn’t been added to my credit card. When I spoke to a Manager on the phone she said the fine print reads it could take up to 16 business days to process a payment because we need to make sure that you have money in your bank account before we approve the payment…. Like whaaat? She then said talk to your bank. So I did! TD was all confused and as greased out as I was, they took the money it’s gone from my account and still not posted. Shady...
Very upsetting, I only received my CT Mastercard a week ago, used it to get the promotional reward points they offered when you make a certain purchase after getting your new card, never used it after went to order something for my daughter for school, found out the card has a hold on it called found out they put a temporary hold on all new cards till you make your first payment and then its remove after two business days. I haven't even received a bill yet, and they call me consistently every day, I'm not in collects (only had the card a week), I still have a good chunk of credit available on my card, Makes me wonder if every time I use the card will they call me harassing me for payment. Really wish I had found this site before applying for this card.

I am currently fighting a charge that was applied to my card without me making a purchase. This credit card company keeps giving me the runaround about it. They can see the charge on the statement, they can see I did not receive the product and that the online order was cancelled. Each time I get on the phone they start the process over and I’m to wait another 5-7 business days. This time, I got close to the person that can actually help and the call “mysteriously” got dropped (he hung up).
This card company and Canadian tire seem to make money off people by charging your card for items you don’t buy and then give you the run around when you dispute it hoping you will forget about it. This is over a $500 charge, too bad for them I won’t go away. It’s not the money anymore, it’s the principle of it. Banks continuously get people's hard-earned money and get richer and richer off the backs of real working people.

I made a few purchases in April, including having my car brakes installed, but the bill was quite high.
I paid off the balance of the brakes on April 26th and then I guess I made an additional purchase for around $60, but I honestly did not remember.
Saturday, June 24 I get a text message saying I have a balance outstanding. I pay $150 because I know I don't owe that much but I don't want this to continue accruing interest.
On June 26th, I call and find out my credit available is $0 (all I owe is $57.00). I explain I made a payment on June 24th, but she didn't care, it needs to be posted, can't do anything. I ask why the available credit is 0, she says the account is locked until I pay the balance in full. She says this happens after 2 statement periods without a payment.
Complaint 1 - I'm not sure how two statement periods could have elapsed if I paid on April 26th, and paid again on June 24th.
Complaint 2 - Any other bank or FI would call you after the first payment date is missed- CTFS does not make calls
Complaint 3 - The agent was uncaring, unsympathetic and argumentative.
As soon as my payment is applied, I will be calling them back to send back the credit and cancel the card. I refuse to deal with a company like this.
