The payment due date on my statement was October 2.
Made full payment (EFT) through my bank on October 2.
Was charged interest for two days because it took Canadian Tire two days to process my payment.
Never experienced this with any other company when making electronic payments.
I made a few purchases in April, including having my car brakes installed, but the bill was quite high.
I paid off the balance of the brakes on April 26th and then I guess I made an additional purchase for around $60, but I honestly did not remember.
Saturday, June 24 I get a text message saying I have a balance outstanding. I pay $150 because I know I don't owe that much but I don't want this to continue accruing interest.
On June 26th, I call and find out my credit available is $0 (all I owe is $57.00). I explain I made a payment on June 24th, but she didn't care, it needs to be posted, can't do anything. I ask why the available credit is 0, she says the account is locked until I pay the balance in full. She says this happens after 2 statement periods without a payment.
Complaint 1 - I'm not sure how two statement periods could have elapsed if I paid on April 26th, and paid again on June 24th.
Complaint 2 - Any other bank or FI would call you after the first payment date is missed- CTFS does not make calls
Complaint 3 - The agent was uncaring, unsympathetic and argumentative.
As soon as my payment is applied, I will be calling them back to send back the credit and cancel the card. I refuse to deal with a company like this.

I have had my Canadian Tire Mastercards (2) for over ten years and I have never had a problem reaching customer service and arranging payments, being a small business owner if I have been caught without a payment. The agents have always been civil and take care of things immediately.
I was buying Christmas gifts and got the offer of a Canadian Tire card. Halfway through I said I didn’t want it anymore and I would pay full price for everything. The salesperson said there was just one more step, I felt coerced so finished the transaction. I activated the card and paid the amount owing and immediately deactivated the account. Customer service was horrible from the counter to the banking service. I would never recommend this service ever.
Recently our amount due has hiked up considerably. In order to avoid interest charges we always pay what is owed. In the last two months, the amount due is over $2,000. Many of our purchases have been on no interest equal installment payments, yet the monies they say we owe are far over the amounts financed this way. I get the feeling we are being punished for being long-term customers. It has been unreasonable and onerous to have to pay this much each month. We do not even owe that much. Is this company in trouble financially? Are they doing some creative accounting on their customers' backs? It is so totally weird. IE: we bought a fireplace for about $1800. We returned it five days later without even picking it up as we decided that spending that money was not in our best interests. It was put on the no-interest/interest-free installment payments. Even though we returned this item we still owe on the payment schedule for this purchase that was not even picked up, and it was added to the total amount owing last month!!! Again we ask is there some creative accounting being done? Are long-term customers being punished, or is it because we are getting to retirement age? Is this ageism discrimination?

I have been a long-time customer. I used their credit card for more than 5 years. I spent most of my income with my credit card. I never ever had a late payment or an interest charge. They offered me a balance transfer promotion. It was 0% interest rate with 1,5% fee. I used it for 4000$ and they charge me a 60$ fee which is normal. Next month I saw an 85$ interest charge in my bill. When I asked them, they told me that I needed to pay it off. I told them that I still have 3 months to pay. They said, no it doesn't work like that. I had to pay my balance off. I got ripped off by this credit card. I cancelled my credit card right away and moved my business somewhere else. I suggest you work with a bank which is more trustworthy.
Canadian Tire offered a $250 bonus if the card was used within 30 days of approval, but the card never arrived until after 30 days rendering the offer void, customer service was no help whatsoever in rectifying the situation, total run around. If you only have their reward card, you get literally pennies on purchases so you are "encouraged" to get their credit card. This offer was doomed to fail from the beginning - after applying online, the application had a glitch and had to be redone, then you wait for the letter and have to take your identification into a store and finish the application process, once approved, you have to wait for the card to arrive, this all takes time. One customer service representative said 30 days from the activation date, but it is actually 30 days from the approval, however, the card did not arrive until after 30 days, so the offer expired. If I could give less than 1 star or negative stars, I would give -5 stars for the entire experience.
Right from the beginning, I had negative experiences. Limited options to pay bills, harassing phone calls constantly from multiple agents when your late making payments sometimes at inappropriate hours, frequently had a transaction declined and had to verify an account, paid insurance that was useless and only puts money in their pocket and unless you die does nothing for the cardholder, when speaking with agents they ask too many personal questions and demand answers when it’s inappropriate or questionably any of their business. They harass you even after telling them when the earliest time you can pay bill sometimes up to 20+ times a day. On one occasion during a shopping trip at their downtown Vancouver location I had a gorilla of a security officer (plainclothes) learning over the self-service checkout I was using in an intimidating manner making me feel extremely uncomfortable and not wanting to go back to that location again appearing to have no concern about whether I was doing something wrong or not and when I emailed them about my experience I received no response at all. There are better options for building credit than Canadian Tire. My experience was so bad I won’t even shop there anymore...

I just received this card & wanted to pay what I spent $300 before the due date so that I could use the card without issues while I travelled. The first time paying I went to their website and chose the option to pay online as it said the payment would be posted 2-3 business days later. I paid on Dec 8th the transaction was completed the knee was taken from my bank account two business days later, we’re now at Dec 27th & the payment still hasn’t been added to my credit card. When I spoke to a Manager on the phone she said the fine print reads it could take up to 16 business days to process a payment because we need to make sure that you have money in your bank account before we approve the payment…. Like whaaat? She then said talk to your bank. So I did! TD was all confused and as greased out as I was, they took the money it’s gone from my account and still not posted. Shady...
I have a simple question to ask that wouldn't even take 5 seconds to answer. I browsed the websites (Triangle and CTFS) for about 20 minutes and still couldn't find my answer. I then called and was put on hold for over an hour before I gave up. I guess phones are just too old-fashioned for their customer services reps. Hello? Is anybody home? Ridiculous waste of time! Not using this card anymore!
