Warning: no transaction can exceed the credit limit, even if pre-funded

by morbinson on Apr 15, 2022
2.7 out of 5 stars

My first credit card had a nominal credit limit of 35$ (this was 1995, so probably like 100$ in today’s funds), and I could make purchases in any amount, as long as the card was adequately funded ahead of time. I tried pre-funding the PC Financial MasterCard, yet a purchase still declined, and, after being on hold for over an hour, asking for the solution, the situation is still impossible to resolve, or even workaround. I expected more from this 21st century, but with this kind of devolution in service and features, I cannot be honestly optimistic about the progress of civilization.

Worst credit card for customer service

by Melissa on Mar 26, 2022
2 out of 5 stars

Beware of signing up with this company if you expect you will ever require customer service... they have none!!! They spontaneously lowered my credit limit for no reason, and when I called them I waited on hold for about two hours at which point they hang up on me. You can't get ahold of them online either!!! Worst customer service from a company that I've ever had!!!

Incompetent customer service

Recently I received a credit to my PC MasterCard from an airline company.
The corresponding credit card had been compromised so another had been issued in July 2021.
The credit balance is NOT automatically transferred to the new card & I had to phone repeatedly to request the credit of over $1500.00 to be credited to my account.
After 7 phone calls & 7 weeks of speaking with multiple people this issue was finally resolved just yesterday Jan 21/22 ( they could all see the credit was there from Dec. 12/21
This customer service is absolutely horrible. The wait times on hold are terrible. At least 1 hour or more every time you try to get through.
As soon as my credit is used up... This card will only be used for grocery items that need not be returned.
This is the 3rd time my card has been compromised & I am extremely careful with it. I expect the high credit limit has something to do with it as my wife's card has never had a problem.
Also, my card is expiring & they told me my new card was mailed out over a month ago but I have yet to receive it. When I mention this ... they don't care! Just wait!

Good card, but bad integration with other services!

I had a card with them for a long time. Multiple times they changed my credit limit without my knowledge. One time, they closed my account without my knowledge and I had to figure out why and fix it.
Then when they introduced their World Elite Mastercard, I wanted to go for that card but they did not let me. I closed my account and applied for the World Elite card directly and got it. But all of this shows the hassle they create for you.
They also do not allow any third party to your account, say if you want to sync your transactions with Mint or with your bank which is another minus.
The only redeeming quality are the PC points at Loblaws group of stores, so only get this if you shop at Loblaws, superstore or the like very often.

The oddest credit card experience-stay away

by rusti36 on Dec 10, 2021

About two or three years ago missed two payments in a year. They increased interest which was fine. The problem is they do not reduce it even though things are back to normal. Just noticed the credit limit was decreased. Still use it occasionally. Was planning on getting rid of this card anyway. Will do just that. Just the oddest credit card experience.

Avoid at any cost

I got this card for my daughter, so she wasn't always borrowing mine to order things online. My daughter was not working because of the COVID stuff so I have been making her payments, every 2 weeks I put money on her card, I got this months statement saying I didn't pay enough last month, so the card was suspended and the credit limit lowered, when I phoned to find out what was going on they told me I didn't make the full payment for the month before, and then they told me they had taken the payment I made on July 9th and applied it to June's bill, so it looks like I didn't pay my bill on time when I complain I was informed that they can apply the money to whichever month they want to and the only way to avoid this is to make 1 monthly payment on the 15th of every month...
