Incompetent customer service

by Fed up...!!! on Jan 22, 2022
2 out of 5 stars

Recently I received a credit to my PC MasterCard from an airline company.
The corresponding credit card had been compromised so another had been issued in July 2021.
The credit balance is NOT automatically transferred to the new card & I had to phone repeatedly to request the credit of over $1500.00 to be credited to my account.
After 7 phone calls & 7 weeks of speaking with multiple people this issue was finally resolved just yesterday Jan 21/22 ( they could all see the credit was there from Dec. 12/21
This customer service is absolutely horrible. The wait times on hold are terrible. At least 1 hour or more every time you try to get through.
As soon as my credit is used up... This card will only be used for grocery items that need not be returned.
This is the 3rd time my card has been compromised & I am extremely careful with it. I expect the high credit limit has something to do with it as my wife's card has never had a problem.
Also, my card is expiring & they told me my new card was mailed out over a month ago but I have yet to receive it. When I mention this ... they don't care! Just wait!

Very long phone wait times for customer service

by Sarah on Jan 16, 2022

I spent over an hour on hold yesterday and an hour and a half again today with customer service for a blocked transaction and restricted access to my account online. Customer service is pleasant and helpful once you manage to speak with someone, but you are then transferred to security for another long hold time.

Fraudulent & Worst Customer Service

Tried on numerous attempts to call…. Spent over 2 hours waiting for an agent to answer and née got through.
Never received the 100000 points with my PC Financial Mastercard. Fraudulent...
Their self-serve managing account is a joke.

MWE not living up to its name

by Ida T on Mar 15, 2021
2.3 out of 5 stars

I usually use my other cards for higher-value purchases for better benefits. The only benefit Master World Elite (MWE) is for a few groceries from buying at your store.

I am a long-standing customer of PC Financial which offered to me this Master World Elite (MWE) card that I did not even apply for.

I just got a letter saying that MWE put in a new rule to downgrade cards when a minimum of $15k/year spending is not met. If I want to get another MWE, I have to reapply. I use my other cards at other stores that offer personal shopping, deliveries, better reward points and exceptional customer services that help during this pandemic. Why would I subject myself to apply for another card especially when it's really only good for your store?

Avoid at any cost

by Carl on Aug 20, 2020
2 out of 5 stars

I got this card for my daughter, so she wasn't always borrowing mine to order things online. My daughter was not working because of the COVID stuff so I have been making her payments, every 2 weeks I put money on her card, I got this months statement saying I didn't pay enough last month, so the card was suspended and the credit limit lowered, when I phoned to find out what was going on they told me I didn't make the full payment for the month before, and then they told me they had taken the payment I made on July 9th and applied it to June's bill, so it looks like I didn't pay my bill on time when I complain I was informed that they can apply the money to whichever month they want to and the only way to avoid this is to make 1 monthly payment on the 15th of every month...

no longer my favorite

by FreddieSaxon on Nov 16, 2018

This was one of my favourite credit cards until they did this to me. I hadn't received a statement in a while, so decided to log in and check, but I couldn't log in...I got something about fraud prevention and that I need to re-certify my login by doing some reset of password and them sending me an authentication id. Tried this, failed, got locked out, told to try in 10 mins, 2 hours, and then 2 days...that's when I asked to speak to a supervisor or manager. Turns out they have switched something over, said they sent me an Email about it, which I never received...in this switchover they also reset all notification settings to blank, and that's why I never received a reminder that my balance was due on Nov 7...but it was on Nov 15 that this nightmare began for me. So I paid my bill and was told that after interest rate charges show up on my account that I should call them back about it. A few mistakes they made here...number 1. They say they sent an Email, but because this is MONEY, they should have put a CLICK TO CONFIRM in that Email to ensure two-way communication was achieved successfully...number 2. Zapping notifications was a mistake that could have been avoided if a seamless transition and true customer care was a concern in their switchover. Even if they remove interest charges, this episode makes me rethink who I am doing business with. On the subject to money, I have a zero tolerance for incompetence, which I think was demonstrated here. Customer service is the one and only way that I evaluate a company, 'nuff said.

You get what you pay for

Just recently got rid of my annual fee World Elite BMO card in favour of the no fee World Elite PC card.
I've been using credit cards for everything as we live quite remote and rely on online shopping. Also I need a "large" card because I need to travel for work alot and require features like the included car insurance.
The PC card arrived in the mail with no problem. The issues started when we tried linking our existing PC account to this card. It just simply would not work. Also many time I did not get points a PC store as the cashiers don't know how to run this cards to give you the points. (They need to swipe them twice apparently).
The worst part was, that my new PC card become compromised after about three weeks of using it. Someone, somehow spent $3,000 before this fraud was detected by myself. I've received a fraud detection text message from PC after the damage had occurred. PC opened a fraud case and most of the money has been refunded except one larger charge. It has been over ten days and I still haven't received a new replacement card yet. Once this fraud case has been resolved I will most likely cancel this card and return to an annual fee BMO or RBC Mastercard.

Save your mental health and do not use!

by Ellen Hodnett on Sep 26, 2022

I fully agree with other reviews that their customer service and fraud departments are horrible. Two weeks after I reported that clearly fraudulent purchases were made on my card, and I was assured (after 5 hours of wait on the phone and inane conversations) that the charges were reversed and the card cancelled, new fraudulent charges were posted (which I reported), and I am still getting repeats of the same fraudulent charges. We love the free groceries, but this is not worth the aggravation. My new card took a week to arrive. Needless to say, I will not be using it.

I closed my account years ago but still shows on my credit report as open

by Underhsh on Aug 15, 2022
2 out of 5 stars

I used to have this card many years ago. This was before the Loblaws and Shoppers Drug Mart points programs were combined. I paid off the card and closed the account at my request because of very poor customer service. The small rewards I received were not worth the frustration. Today, in 2022, my credit report still shows that my account with a status of Open, an available credit limit, but no activity. I have no confidence in the accuracy of the data they send to credit bureaus. Ironically, I just received an email invitation offering me a pre-approved account. No thanks. I checked the other reviews here and it appears things have got much worse with this company. My advice is to stay away. There are much better credit cards out there where you can get more value in rewards compared to the stingy 1000 points for 1$ standard offer from the current PC Optimum program. I still collect Optimum points when I happen to be in a store, but I use a different credit card than this one.
