Worst experience

I'm shocked to see Costco actually picked this company for their CC. My credit score is 820, they offered me a $3000 credit limit and refused to check my credit report manually to see if they could offer a better limit. This limit is the lowest I have ever received for a credit card. I've never had any problems with credit..ever... I am 40 years old, not 19, and they tell me they don't know me..they need relationship history first... so they need to be careful. SERIOUSLY!? Great way to start that relationship.. Capital One...

Unreasonable denials

I have been denied 3 times by today with c.s. 730...I really don't think that anyone is checking the applicant credit score...Small advice: since it is only for Costco members, maybe you should check how much this Costco member is spending annually and calculate how much will you earn with your 19% interest rate. Anyway, thank you very much CO Canada, I won't be bothering you anymore

Hold true to their bad History

I agree with the reviews that state Costco should be ashamed of entering into an agreement with Capital One. I have always hated Capital One. However, after continuous pressure every time I went to Costco to sign up for this card, I finally bit. Despite the fact that I have an outstanding credit score they provided me with an initial credit limit that was far below my monthly expenditures. I pay my entire CC balances off every month and my other 5 cards carry quadruple the limit. When I called to ask for an increase explaining that this limit would not suffice I was told that it could not be done as it was a new account. I was told to wait one year and call back. After one year and the card being fully paid off on time every month, I called back. They still refused to increase my limit. I became quite angry and told them to cancel my account. This was mid-2017 and I was told that if I cancelled my account I would lose my refund amount which was sitting at approximately $500.00. I then decided that I would keep it until I received and cashed my refund cheque. This account has now been closed and RBC Westjet has my loyalty. Stay away from Capital One at all costs. It's not worth the hassle. I have also reduced my Costco shopping. I will spend my money at locations that don't make such stupid decisions.

They don't want new customers

by iBar on Mar 16, 2018

I'm new to Canada. I moved from the US where I had 820+ credit score (out of 850). This is the only credit card company that rejected my application for a card. I did have RBC, Canadian Tire, and Amex from Canada. I needed this card since I use Costco a lot. While RBC gave me the card based on my income, Amex transferred my US card, and Canadian Tire gave a card with a low card limit, these guys did not care even after I told them that I had an investment account with Capital One until I moved to Canada. I will never get a Capital One.

Better service, better rewards with RBC Westjet MasterCard
Capital one is the worst experience I have ever had with a credit card company. Very rude staff.

Ridiculously LOW credit limit!

by Mya Wren on Jan 4, 2018
1 out of 5 stars

Costco Mastercard NOT recommended! Good luck getting a reasonable level of credit. I have had mine for over a year and a half, have always paid it in full, use it regularly, and have a great credit score, yet they will not give me a credit limit increase. My other credit card has a limit of over 3 times what I have with the Costco Mastercard. Through reading online reviews it seems the norm that Capital One is keeping credit limits uselessly low on this card... I have a single Costco shop on my balance right now, and the limit is so low I can't even use this card to pay for today's car servicing and new tires. As soon as my rebate cheque arrives in the mail I will be cancelling this card. I am not posting this in hopes of getting my limit increased - I've already had that conversation this morning, but am posting it as an FYI for anyone interested in this card (and to let Capital One know this is an annoying game they're playing with this card!)

Not happy

by Katy on Nov 20, 2017

I have had nothing but problems with Capital One. I could not access online, then I could, now I can't once again, so I called Customer Service once again. First-round Customer Service was rude when I called for support, the second time I got the usual gobbly gook they are trained to say. I am happy to hear other cards can be used as I will not use Capital One.

Customer service terrible

Impossible to get thru to someone! They're always experiencing 'higher than normal' call volume. Online chat never works as all the agents are busy. What a joke! There should be an online queue. Will likely get rid of this cc

poor phone response, rude Csr

by yanku on Oct 6, 2017

Rude CSR
after waiting the total of 49 minutes to speak to a live agent
that is: getting cut off after 15 minutes, trying again and waiting additional 34minutes, the CSR hung up on me when I try to tell him
about the poor response

TERRIBLE, TERRIBLE, TERRIBLE

by Laura on Oct 5, 2017

I had a regular Capital One card & online account. Then I applied for this nightmare COSTCO card! WHAT A MISTAKE! It screwed up my online account, didn't recognize my phone number, and left me on hold for hours! Oh, and the card never arrived after ONE MONTH of waiting! After reading all these reviews, I realized that I had made a grave error by applying for this card, so I called my regular Capital One phone number, and told them to get my application CANCELLED. That has been done, and good-bye for good, Costco Capital One Card... Our relationship was short, and NOT sweet!
