Had HBC card for years - as gives further discounts occasionally to cardholders. Husband had a card. And I eventually got one if I went to the store on my own. Last night online shopping I used my card and it declined, husband's card ok.
I called to see why my card declined - could not make sense by figured inactivity on my card. Saw also they had old phone numbers on file. Lady asked 3x for info and then had to transfer to an advisor who also asked the same 100 questions. Wanted to know who was phone provider on phone ????? I said maybe easier to cancel the card since nothing owing. He said need to ask more questions. Easter Canada does not trust us I guess.
Worst customer service. No one knows what they are doing. I called to find out why I hadn't received the package for fraudulent activity on my credit card and the representative said she there wasn't any report of it. I said that's funny because I have a reference number. Then she transfers me to no one and they hang up on me. Bunch of incompetent individuals. I will be cancelling my credit card once this is dealt with.

I use the HBC Capital One MasterCard weekly to buy groceries at one of 3 stores in my community. Today, my card was declined so I had to use another. Fearing it had been compromised, I immediately called Capital One and was told the block was automatic and based on unusual activity or amount. I explained I was using it at the same store I shop at every week, their history going back for years would bear that out, the amount was less than $85, and my account is in good standing. Security repeated that it was automatic based on unusual activity or amount, but could not clarify beyond that statement. The representative said she would unblock my card, and I told her that based on this I’m not sure I really want to use this card anymore; I have no confidence in their process. She had no response for me. HBC MasterCard was wonderful until it was taken over by Capital One. What a pity as I will miss getting the HBC Rewards.
I got a $2000 charge from China and Neo refused to protect me! I had to pay it back! Outrageous! Canadian from GVA. Why is there no theft protection?
