Someone on the other side of the country was using my card so I called Tangerine to be put on hold for hours and transferred. They didn't refund all the money so I call and hold for hours and transferred again. A month later someone at Tangerine started my card number up again and the thieves got to steal more so hold again fo the next 4 days they still won't take off the interest. They told me to wait for my next bill so I would know what to pay and when I received the bill I've got $150 of interest.
Customer Service is abysmal. I tried customer service to get my damaged card replaced for 2 months during various times of the day. Waited no less than 30 minutes on the phone each time, yet couldn't reach customer service. Anytime you call standard message would be "due to high call volume wait times are longer". Horrible customer service.

I always pay my balance for any bill on the due date using my online banking. Only Tangerine charged me interests for 5 times over the past 2 years of usage. The reason they told me they need at least 3 days to receive the money, but why not set up due day earlier if you slow on receiving money? If you have a Tangerine card, you have to mark your calendar at least 3 days ahead of the due date, but what's the point of the due date in that case? I know it may not be an issue for someone, but I never had any issue paying the balance on a due day with any billing, only with Tangerine!!! And they blame me for not sending payment sooner, said they only care when they receive money instead of when I send payment. Can't deal with them anymore!
I have used my tangerine Mastercard for a few years and never carried a balance. First time I inadvertently paid $100 less than my statement balance and was surprised to see $46.50 in purchase interest. I called and was told it is charged on the daily balance, not a closing balance and would not be waived. I have never had such poor customer service with any other cards and will no longer use this one. I’ll be closing my accounts with them also.

Customer service is non-existent at Tangerine. Many people select this credit card for its cashback features but they make it very difficult to ensure all cashback is properly claimed. I had an adjustment awarded once but now I've been told policy is not to adjust more than that when issues are encountered with the MasterCard category setup by the vendor. For example, if somewhere operates as a fast food place, and your 2% cashback category is "eating places", you will only get 0.5% as that is not a restaurant. Strange, because the category is "eating places" and not "restaurant". Also, if the category isn't properly set up from the vendor's end - Tangerine refuses to allow adjustments. They are rude and put you on hold for 45 minutes. I asked to speak to a manager and never got one, only was apparently relayed a message from a manager that they would not adjust for any issues. If you spend enough money on credit cards, go with a major bank, their customer service actually exists and they will try to take care of you. I'll gladly pay a fee for a credit card to avoid this kind of treatment. The frustration with Tangerine isn't worth anyone's time.
Contacting Customer Service is absolutely ridiculous. Constant voice prompts and then wait; wait; wait! This last experience was with a telephone representative that appeared to not care less about my enquiry. Even when I mentioned stopping the use of the Tangerine card, it did not matter to him. I will pay the next statement, which should have the "final" total owing, and that will be the end of my experience with Tangerine! Anyone that asks me of my opinion, I will tell them to "DEFINITELY" "DO NOT" use Tangerine.
Worst experience ever. Deceptive marketing on its 2% cash rebate. Refuse to recognize recurring bill payment category setup for 2%. Give nonsense story, blah blah blah. Avoid this card like the plague. Have to wait forever for customer service. Don't even allow me to close the account. Imagine that!!!

One of my three choice for the 2% cashback was for Reno and each time i use it for Reno project they give me only 0.50 % because Master card not Tangerine doesn't not recognize the store where i buy my stuff as a Reno store to complicated back with BMO Master card and happy..
I selected groceries as one of my 2% cashback categories - the first month of using this card. I ordered groceries through Costco insta-cart 3 times. The first time I got 2% cashback, the second time 0.5% cashback and the third time 2% cash back. I can't really understand why there would be differences in amount back considering it's the same vendor. After reading the other reviews, I'm not going to bother phoning to fight with their customer service and wasting my time. I'll go back to my other credit cards and keep this one on hand for use once in a while. Smaller banks like Tangerine are free to fight for market share, but they need to be honest about their cash back incentives and improve customer service. The online chatbot is useless too.
