I wanted to refinance my house. Equitable put my mortgage payment on hold while negotiating refinance (I have 1 million equity in my home), after back and forth, an online document request portal that is not user-friendly came up with a solution that required me to pay out $68,000 to lenders FIRST. If I had that money, I wouldn’t refinance!!!! When I turned them down they then tried to charge my account, WITHOUT NOTICE for 3 MORTGAGE PAYMENTS ON 3 CONSECUTIVE DAYS!!!! Who has $4500 just laying around in their accounts? That costs me a $48 service fee each time AND they added $200 TO MY PRINCIPLE!!!! Crooks. Stay away, don’t get locked in. So glad I switched, (and for better financing).
Missed 2 closing dates because of their terrible customer service. Finally, sign the papers at the lawyers they had my name spelled wrong. They tried to charge me $1000, interest before I was even in the house and then put off the closing for another week. It seemed they did not understand English well and repeatedly asked for documents that had already been supplied. I would say stay away from this bank unless you have no other choice!

They even print out complaints form for you when you sign at the lawyer's office in advance.. keep in mind no other bank would do that.
Must be a lot of complaints. I called them one time and a representative said I hope I can answer your questions and she said ask your mortgage broker. I just wanted to ask why do I need an appraisal when I put more than 50%?
I only got 1 year fixed. In a few months, I will turn around and never look back... I felt like signing mortgage documents with crayons. Plus they didn't let us take ownership as tenants in common...
You have to contact them via email. The highest rates ever! I tried to renew early and by the time I had the right advice I was paying a couple of points more than I should have not to mention the $700 ‘renewal’ fee and another $200 ‘processing’ fee is pretty ridiculous. Especially if you renew each year! Can’t wait to move on to a new lender.
