Best Credit Card I Own

by Jonathon on Nov 13, 2021
5 out of 5 stars

This card is honestly the best credit card I own. I have had it for 3 months and already have $175 cashback, and I rarely shop at Canadian Tire.
You get 5c back per litre at Husky gas stations and Canadian Tire+ gas stations. You also get 4% back on Canadian Tire purchases, and when you pair it up with weekly exclusive deals, it is awesome. Canadian Tire also regularly has 30x or 40x points days. For example, I bought a GPS for $190, and because I used a $15 cashback deal, and bought it on a 40x day, I got nearly $55 back. I should mention, you can also still get Husky points while getting gas. The weekly deals are curated towards your interests, but you can exchange any of your deals for different ones, meaning you have tons of weekly deals to choose from to find ways to maximize your earnings with this card. Sometimes the app will just stop working altogether, so you cannot view it on your phone for an hour or so that day. Paying it off also takes roughly 2-3 days, so plan in advance.

Payment on hold

by Regrets on Nov 4, 2021
1.5 out of 5 stars

What a bunch of scammers. I have had this card for 3 months and have been paying off the balance each month. The last payment of 300$ I just found out is being held for two weeks for no reason whatsoever, now I found out I overpaid by 2 dollars and I could spend that in the meantime customer service is rude... When I was transferred to a manager I was lectured about how to make payments...

Very Happy

Credit limit increase offer after about 1 year.
Frequent balance transfer offers at 0% interest with a 1.5% fee.
Note: if you make purchases after a balance transfer, the majority of any payments will be applied to the balance transfer resulting in a high interest charged for the purchases. Read the fine print on how payments are applied!
Option to make 24 equal payments with no fee or interest. (Including shop work)
Offer to select one category for increased rewards. (recurring bills, pharmacy or groceries.
I am happy to have this card. I use it wisely and to my benefit. I have redeemed a decent sum of Canadian Tire money. With the rewards and the 24 payment plan I have the means to make unexpected purchases that make sense but I would not consider if I did not have the benefits of this card.
With no annual fee, I have actually made money off of having this card.

Сondescending and rude staff

Had an issue receiving my card. Made numerous calls and was misinformed every time. The new agent would just say that “they shouldn’t have told you that” or “sorry we can’t honor that”, even while all this is documented in the notes, even promises made. They claimed they will review those calls, however, no concessions or accommodations were made. The supervisors took condescending and belittling tones throughout the interaction, passing on blame and not once admitting any responsibility. Overall... the worst customer service experience ever!

BEWARE OF THE HARASSMENT

by Thomas C on Apr 10, 2021
1 out of 5 stars

I applied for a card around the first week of November 2020 and was approved for $500 instant credit on a triangle card. I used the card and made a fairly high payment way before the due date, for no default reason Canadian Tire suspended the card. Then continuous have called up to 5 - 6 times a day looking for payments. It's harassment and they refuse to stop even after being told to by a lawyer. The law says no more than 3 calls a week yet they do as they please. I'm filing a breach of contract suit against them for cancellation while the card was in good standing. They also put negative things against my credit without taking into consideration COVID. They also lied saying I requested the account closed and the number of my payments to the credit bureau. Will not tolerate the harassment anymore and will be contacting the government to file a complaint against them as well.

Tricked into signing up...

by Serge on Feb 19, 2021
1 out of 5 stars

My older Dad who does not speak a lot of English was tricked into signing up for this credit card in the store. Given his limited language understanding, he thought that he is signing up for a simple rewards card and not for a credit card. He already has a credit card with RBC and does not want another one to manage. I don't like these sales tricks of selling stuff to people who do not understand what they are getting. I have cancelled the card for him.
