The worst insurance I’ve ever delt with

So we started with Sonnet back in 2022. We thought things were going well. In August 2023 we had a no-fault collision. It took over 2 weeks to submit our claim, and then we ended up having to tow the car to the shop ourselves. We had a rental car and the work took additional time, so we were left without a car. Then, our adjuster was let go, and so it took 4 months to get our $500 back. Now 1 year later and I receive an email stating that our policy was cancelled. After calling, I found out that they think one of our licenses expired. And the person on the phone said, “we should have sent you notification earlier”. Still haven’t heard back from the underwriting team, and now we have no insurance, and we are supposed to leave on a road trip…
Never seen such a unproffecional site or company in my life. Tried like 4 times to get a quote, the site is so cheap and unreliable. Tried to contact them, no customer service you can call, no option for new customers, asked the robot chat to speak to an agent. It keeps telling me to call during business hours. It's Friday 9am, and it still not redirecting me to an agent. I would never reccomend this to anybody. Worst insurance company ever!!!
Did you know that on average Ontario drivers with good driving records pay $1,805/year in auto insurance? Is your insurance rate higher? Get a free car insurance quote and start saving today.
My truck was stolen March 1st. It’s now April 25th and I still haven’t received any settlement. They’re saying it’s because the truck was found, which restarts the whole process. I gave them all the information regarding that on March 21st. April 12th no one picked up the truck or went to look at it. I still haven’t received any settlement from them. Even when calling the adjuster and leaving voicemails saying “please call me back” I get emails saying “sorry I missed your call”. Timelines they give are not accurate and you’re lucky to get the response of “I’ll keep you posted as soon as we can move forward”. I’ve had to take a loan to purchase another vehicle since their claim is taking so long, leaving me with interest I shouldn’t be dealing with.
Their rates are great. But if you have a claim, at least in my case, their rates reflect the service.
I made a claim for my car a while ago and customer service would always give vague answers on the progress of the claim, or they just don't give you an answer. There must be a reason why getting a policy from them was so easy; it's because they will absolutely make you pay for that later on when you have to make a claim. They will make sure to make the experience as slow and frustrating as possible.
My policy was up for renewal October 22. I received an email stating rate increase in September prior. I called sonnet on September 26th advising that I wouldn’t be renewing as increase in my policy had me shopping around. I received a better rate and insured my truck with a different company. My daughter’s car I reinsured with sonnet as it came in reasonable alone. On October 23, sonnet charged my credit card for the new policy I instructed not to initiate the month prior. When I called to rectify the situation, they recorded as if I canceled my policy on that day which was fraudulent as I instructed not to renew. Of the 715 dollars they took without permission, they refunded me 28. I was supposed to eat 687$ for one day of insurance when my vehicles were both insured elsewhere. I contacted the Better Business Bureau and reported my issue. Days later sonnet got in contact with me to resolve. I sent proof of insurance for my truck with slips for October 23 start date as well as their records of me paying first and last on my daughter’s car through them. Nothing refunded. Forcing me to dispute charges with my credit card provider. They refunded the illegitimate transaction after investigation within five days. Then I received an email from sonnet that they would be attempting to withdraw forcing me to cancel my credit card.
For sure I would say stay away.
To further my frustration. Sonnet reached out to rectify the situation requesting I contact them. Sonnet has not taken my calls and sent my fraudulent account to collections.
Recently emailed me with account renewal with chance to settle at the same time collection agency is trying to collect the old account. When I expressed concern about collection, they stopped taking my calls.
Worst customer relations ever.
4 days to respond after claim, tried to decide outcome from only other party info after 6 day's (never asked for any info from me like dashcam footage, testimony of events, etc). Stuck with towing and storage fees as a result of excessive time passed due to their disgusting response time (tried to use covid as excuse, as if no other adjuster could have been given the case). Premiums keep going up with clean driving record but when something happens you get this kind of service.
BEWARE and go with anyone else but this company. I am moving my business along with family and friends I recommend a few years back with me to a company that knows their industry and treats their paying customer's better.
Everything was all fine and dandy, I was happy with the rates. Soon as I missed a payment after three years of not missing one, they sent me cancelation warnings and I kept trying to email the same email they were emailing me from telling them to try to take the money out but it wasn't working. Finding the number for sonnet online was nearly impossible. My policy got canceled and the day of the cancelation they took the money they owed from me when they could have just kept the policy going by taking the payment I missed out of my account.
Trying to get a new policy was a nightmare. They kept sending back the application as incomplete and I got help from several representatives all saying okay its good now, just try re submitting it. Three weeks and 5 applications later they finally just ghosted me. Your the absolute worst. Wasted my time and treated me like shit after I was a faithful customer for three years grrr
Great example of "you get what you pay for". They have lower rates, but you pay for it in other ways if you have a claim. Having an adjuster that doesn't answer calls or emails made it impossible to get a rental car (even though it was included with the insurance) after being rear ended. Car is getting repaired, but having to miss several days of work and pay a deductible for a not-at-fault accident is ridiculous. Though friendly, the people who answer calls say they have no way of helping- it's up to the non-responsive adjuster to approve the rental car. Being left stranded without a vehicle for several days without an adjuster to help has made this experience much more stressful. Save yourself some money and go with a reputable company, even if it means paying a bit more in premiums. It will pay off in the end if you ever make a claim.
It's pretty much non-existent. Good luck trying to talk to someone when you need them.

I’m now going on over 4 weeks since the accident and the process is taking forever. I can’t ever get into contact with anyone. My agent now just went on vacation for the second time, so now I have to wait 5 days before I can get any answer. When I asked to speak to a supervisor, they said they’ll call me back, it’s been two days and haven’t heard anything. I’m so frustrated with this company it’s very unorganized, and I’ll be switching company’s once this claim is done/ if that ever happens.
