Sonnet is terrible!

Sonnet Insurance is a scam. I had been with them for 4 years all of a sudden, less than 30 days before my policy is supposed to be renewed, I log on to my account and they tell me my policy is being cancelled. I asked why they said they sent an email to manually send in an auto-renew form and this is a new policy of theirs. I checked my email and junk folder there was absolutely nothing there. They said it could have gone to spam and gotten deleted. Unacceptable if you are cancelling my policy and I need to be informed of the next steps. Then they proceeded to tell me if I want to continue my policy to pay first and last again and reapply. Then they quoted me $926 a month to renew my policy.
Introductory rate and ease to sign up, then they jack their rates.
Bought a new car and my rates shot up 200% for no clear reason.
Such bad service trying to figure it out.
If you have a good driving record in AB, you should pay around $110/month (women - $105/month and men - $113/month). Do you overpay? Get an Alberta car insurance quote to start saving.
Had 2 cars for 280$ per month.
Sold 1 and my policy went up to 286$.
They told me with 1 car I lost a multi-vehicle discount. They tell you ridiculous lies that make no sense. And again whose gonna make them stop. Not our politicians.
I cancelled my policy with them a month before my renewal date, however, they still took a payment, when I called them on it they reversed it, but 4 days later took the payment again. When I called them on it they tried to blame me, I said how is a month prior to renewal, not long enough. Crooks, stay away from them. They also raised my yearly rate by almost 1000 dollars, without reason or notice.
Jacked up my rate 90% in the second year with no claims or driving abstract change.
I have been with Sonnet since 26th October 2017. They have been increasing the monthly payments every year, even after that, I have been continuing with them. They sent me an email in August in which I had to submit my rent agreement which they already had from the beginning and was submitted to them again when I had a $1600 claim on my car last year. I got to know about that email when I received a letter that my policy will be cancelled this year. That email was in spam. I rarely check my spam box. I am ready to give them whatever they need from me but according to their norms I had to reply to them in August otherwise my police will be cancelled on 26th October 2020 which is their final decision.
I received notice my policy would be cancelled August 2nd as a result of them not having Proof of Active Status for my driver's license. I contacted them and provided this info, a week later I received a renewal notice and my rates had doubled to over 400$ a month, the same day I received a second cancellation notice with no reason stated. They then proceeded to cancel my policy on July 2nd with no notice to me, leaving me uninsured on a brand new $60k vehicle, for almost a month before I noticed. I have nothing positive to say about this company whatsoever, customer service is useless and knows about as much as the consumer, upper management plays phone/email tag with you for weeks on end with no resolution to any problems. Buyers beware. Avoid this company at all costs regardless of how good of a price they may offer, I'd been insured with Sonnet for 4 years at a very reasonable rate, no claims, no tickets, perfectly clean record, and they doubled my rates with no explanation.
Everything was going great tell I made a claim 10 months into my first year with Sonnet. My car got hit while it was parked so it wasn’t my fault. Cops came took a statement. I did everything I was supposed to do. It is March 28, 2020, I made my claim Nov 21, 2019, and I still never heard from Sonnet after many attempts to contact them. Every time I call the claims team they tell me they don’t have my file and give me an email of who does. This guy never gets back to me. I ended up paying for an accident out of my pocket. To top it off my year contract ended Feb 15 my last payment was Jan 15. On March 15, 2020, Sonnet tried to take 186 dollars from my account. I thought this was some kind of error but it wasn’t. I called them and asked why they were taking money from my account. They said it’s for your policy I said my policy was up on Feb. They said they just renew it if you don’t call and tell them. I said - "So, you guys renew policies without asking the customer?" They said they sent me an email that they didn’t send. Then later said they called me. My policy was 120 a month so I guess because I made the claim (that they won’t get back to me about or pay) the put my insurance up to 186. Long story short I would stay far away from this company. The low rate and easy sign is the only thing good about them. When it comes time to interact with them you will have problems. Oh, and when I talked to a supervisor about their cancelling my policy they said we still have to charge you for the days we insured you. What a joke I agreed to a year nothing more. I wasn’t happy and I didn’t renew. They renewed for me and overcharged me then charged me for days they insured me smh. I never even knew I had insurance with them till they took money out of my account. If I where you, I would stay far away.
Did you know that on average Ontario drivers with good driving records pay $1,805/year in auto insurance? Is your insurance rate higher? Get a free car insurance quote and start saving today.
The specialist will put you on hold just after greeting you for a long time. He keep on repeating himself without understanding the whole issue. We end up cancelling in advance. I have never make any claim and the renewal was double. Please try to see with other provider.

I had some issues during covid and a loss of job and missed one payment so they cancelled me and when I paid the amount owing and asked to continue my services not only did they say I now had to pay yearly for ONE missed payment but now I can’t even get insurance without having to pay well over $3000. Scam artists that screw their customers!!!!
