Cancelled policy for non-payment - tried to re-instate - they increased quote by $266/mo

Do not use this insurance company! Premium went up with NO reasons, personnel are not knowledgeable. The last thing that they mentioned was that due to COVID-19 their corporate email shut down. What? They have grit to raise premiums and charge extra money from me but do not have the opportunity to fix their own corporate email...
My policy went up twice in two years even though I had no accidents and only one minor speeding ticket (out of 3 I have had my entire life). When I asked them why it went up (after waiting on the phone for over an hour) they told me that other Johnson insured individuals made claims that they couldn't afford, so their customers were being charged more to cover the costs...excuse me? I finally decided to cancel. When I did, they told me I would be refunded in 5-10 business days. I waited. It didn't come, so, once again, I contacted Johnson and they informed me that it would take over a month for me to have my funds returned. They do not communicate well, they do not care about you, and they do not give the best rates. There are other places you can go. Trust me. I'm saving just under 500 dollars a year since I switched from Johnson.
Did you know that on average Ontario drivers with good driving records pay $1,805/year in auto insurance? Is your insurance rate higher? Get a free car insurance quote and start saving today.
One claim experience, complete disorganization and customer care. Anytime you'd like to call for the information you'll be waiting 30-40 minutes plus. Auto insurance pricing and how they manage the rates are all over the map. I've had $95, $122 and $191 per month in the past 3 years.
I've been using these guys prior to the big changes, and ever since they've been complete garbage. They put on the wrong insurance coverage on my paperwork, so when I got in a car accident I had to get it all changed for proper coverage. This rose my price from 87$ to 197$ a month. Then they raised my price again at 209$ after the renewal. Then I switched vehicles and they quoted me for 260$ a month. Great, I can manage that. I ended up paying 336$ instead. On top of this, I was told last month I'd be paying 168$ after credits. It wasn't even close. There was "no record of that quote." The customer service is absolute trash, the people on the phone sound like they hate their life, and hate yours even more. They get short with you when you ask questions. Don't even bother, look for another insurance company and save yourself from trouble. I dropped them and went with a better one yesterday. I'll gladly pay the cancellation fee to never see their name again.
You may find a good rate with them but they have the worst customer service. Long wait times on the phone and once you get a hold of them they provide absolutely no help. They do not care about your concern. Any change you do to your policy your premiums will go up without your notice.
If you have a good driving record in AB, you should pay around $110/month (women - $105/month and men - $113/month). Do you overpay? Get an Alberta car insurance quote to start saving.
Johnsons Insurance is the worst. I would never recommend anyone to go with this company. I don’t usually give reviews but Johnsons gave me a hard time and compelled me to do this. Before onboarding the client they will call you 10 times a day, give all the offers in the world, but once you’re all set they will not even bother to reply to your emails. Representatives from St.Johns were the worst customer care I have ever talked to. The agent did not know what he was talking about. He was rude and very unprofessional and he hung up on me without answering my questions. I called them again, some other agent picked up and she said things completely different than the previous agent. They will not give you valid reasons for an increase in your renewed auto premium amount. They increased my premium by 1500Cad where I had no accidents, no claims, no tickets, no address change, nothing and they did not have any valid reason to do that. I am quitting on them and switching to another company even if I have to pay them extra cause I am done with their service. It’s such a pain always!

I was away from home due to family emergency when my insurance pre-auth debits were bouncing. I got charged NSF fee's 10+ times then they cancelled my policy on April 15th for non-payment. When I got home I saw the physical letters, insurance was already cancelled... They didn't call, email or text me when the first payment was missed, I could've fixed the situation. I paid off all the arrears on May 25th and tried to re-instate my insurance, they declined and said to make a new policy. Now non-payment is on my record and Im having harder time getting re-insured. The new quote premium went up by $266/month. I declined and went to a different company.
Im fully G licensed, have no tickets, claims, and never got cancelled for non payment in over 10 years. You clearly dont reward good customers.
